Waabaankwad of South Bay (Wikwemikong) passed away at the Plummer Hospital in Sault Sainte Marie in his 75th year.
Loving son of Margaret and John (Paul) WAHSQUONAIKEZHIK, both predeceased. Dear stepson of Daniel and Julia WEMIGWANS. Loving father of Viola (late Frederick) RECOLLET of Sault Sainte Marie and Robert MADAHBEE of Ottawa. Beloved grandfather to Holly (Albert,) Tracey (Jamie), Crystal and Rheal. Great grandfather to Chelsey, Eva-Marie, Hayden and Wassnodeh. Dear brother to Theresa HASWOOD (Tully) of Rock Springs, New Mexico, Christina SINOBERT (Cecil) of Sagamok, Bernadette RECOLLET (Stanley, predeceased) of Wikwemikong, Josette WAHSQUONAIKEZHIK (Brad) of Sudbury, Jean DEBASSIGE of Sudbury, Ernest (Annette) of Keshena, Wisconsin, Gabriel of Birch Island, Francis (Beverly) of Sault Sainte Marie, Luke (Tara) of Fort Alexander, Manitoba, Christopher of Sudbury, Thaddius LAVALLEE of Wikwemikong, Tina McCURLEY (Ken) of Birch Island. Predeceased by siblings Rita, Annette, Bertha, Celina, Patricia, Ida, Joseph Louie and Adam. He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, adopted and step-family members, extended family throughout the pow wow circle, Friends. Archie enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing baseball, step dancing, joking and story telling. Archie attended numerous pow wows, carrying the Veterans Staff. Archie served in WW2 and the Korean War. Rested at South Bay Community Centre from 7 pm, Thursday, December 21, 2006 until the Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at 11 am. Burial in Veterans Cemetery.

Funeral Mass was in Saint Gabriel Lalement Church, Birch Island on Monday, June 18th, 2007 at 11 am. Interment in the Birch Island Cemetery. Friends called after 2 pm, Saturday.

MADDEN, Thomas Ernest
In Bradenton, Florida on December 22, 2007. Born in Toronto on August 15, 1914, Ernie started his career with John Wood Company and retired from the Federal Department of Communications as Chief Financial Officer in 1976. Predeceased by his first wife Kathleen (née KAY) in 1970 and his second wife Hope (née ROGERS) in 2003. He leaves children Doreen JOHNSTON (Dick,) Sharon WILL and Tom, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Survived by his brother John (Rose) and predeceased by his brother Doug and sister Isobel. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, January 3 at 11: 00 a.m. at Albion Gardens Presbyterian Church, 80 Thistledown Blvd., Rexdale. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

On Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at age 89. Beloved husband of Ferne (MADDOCK) for 65 years. Loving father of Jane (Arthur SEDGWICK) and Nancy (Alan SALMON.) Fondly remembered by his grandchildren James, Laura, Karen and Tricia, Wendi, Scott and Jennifer and his 10 great-grandchildren. John was the last surviving son of the Rt. Rev. A.D. DEWDNEY and Alice HANINGTON and was a teacher at the Royal Conservatory of Music for 38 years. Private family arrangements have been made. Died peacefully in Barrie, on June 9th, 2007. Born in Toronto 1941, son of the late Ruth and Clare ALEXANDER. Beloved husband of Elfriede. Sorely missed by his extended family. Son-in-law of Anna STRAUB and the late Herbert, brother-in-law of Ursula McNEIL / GOWER (Richard) of Creemore. Brother of Doctor Gail Alexander MADELL of Orillia, Bruce (Andrea) of Toronto, David (Judy) of Sudbury, and Rick of Huntsville. Much admired uncle of Taylor and Brandon McNEIL of Creemore, Andrew (Kim,) Bob, and Dan MADELL of Kimberley, British Columbia, Matt (Alesia) and Mark of Sudbury, Pam ALEXANDER of Toronto, and Chris ALEXANDER of Kabul, Afghanistan. Great uncle of Sophie of Sudbury. Attended Oakville Trafalgar High School and Queen's University. Called to the Bar of Ontario 1969, Crown Attorney for Simcoe County 1984 to 2004. Recently retired to cottage country. Member of the Mad River Golf Club and active in Old Timers' Hockey. John will be remembered for his zest for life and his utmost devotion to family and Friends. His life's work was the pursuit of fairness in the criminal justice system. His passions included skiing, golf, windsur fing, water skiing, hockey, and tennis. John considered each day a blessing and his positive nature did not abandon him during his most difficult illness. He is an inspiration to us all. Friends may call at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home (Clapperton and Worsley Streets) Barrie, on Thursday, June 21st from 2: 00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9: 00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held from Collier Street United Church, 112 Collier Street, Barrie, on Friday, June 22nd, 2007, at 1: 00 p.m. The Alexander and Straub families express sincere thanks for the care given to our John by the medical teams at the Princess Margaret Hospital (Toronto) and the Royal Victoria Hospital (Barrie). In loving memory of Frederick Leland RUSSELL, a veteran of WW2 and the Lincoln and Welland Regiment. He died unexpectedly at his home early on Friday, January 19, 2007 at the age of 83.
Born to Alex and Bessie (LUSCOMBE) RUSSELL on January 27, 1923.
Survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Beulah. Cherished father of Evelyn RUSSELL- BAEHR of Kitchener, Barbara and Keith FLAHERTY of Southampton, Esther (Peter predeceased) SMITH of Gore Bay, son-in-law Jim TAILOR/TAYLOR of Tehkummah. Much loved grandfather of James (Cheryl) TAILOR/TAYLOR of Guelph, Tammy (Jason) BOWERMAN of Barrie, Patrick (Stephanie) FLAHERTY of Port Elgin, Christopher BAEHR of Kitchener. Special great grandfather of Rebecca TAILOR/TAYLOR, Jessy and John PRIGIONE, Kaitlyn BOWERMAN, Liam and Karlie FLAHERTY. Will be missed by surviving sister Justeen and husband Ron ANSTICE of Tehkummah. Predeceased by sister Irene and husband George VANHORN. Remembered by brothers and sisters-in-law Shirley and Gene MADEO, Sandra FRANK, Dennis QUACKENBUSH, Ralph Junior (predeceased), Garry and Bonnie QUACKENBUSH, Bob and Bonnie QUACKENBUSH, Eleanor and Bob JEWELL and many nieces and nephews. Fred loved the outdoors, he rode his ATV, worked in the woods, and operated his own sawmill. He enjoyed wood working, restoring furniture, and was known for his prize winning pumpkins. His greatest love was for his wife and family. A visitation was held Sunday at the Tehkummah Pentecostal Church and a funeral service took place Monday, January 22 at the church as well. Burial will be in the spring at Hilly Grove Cemetery. Donations to the Pentecostal Church or to the Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary would be greatly appreciated in Fred's memory.

The family received Friends at the Fawcett-McEachern Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, Durham Friday from 10 a.m. until 12: 30 p.m. Funeral Service was held in the Funeral Home Chapel at 12: 30 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2007. Cremation followed.

Passed away surrounded by the love of her family at Country Lane nursing home in Chatsworth on Friday, December 21st, 2007 in her 93rd year. The former Irene COLLINGWOOD was the beloved wife of the late Lloyd WOODS. She is the loving mother of Pamela (Les) MCINNES/MCINNIS, Linda (Clayton) MADILL, Bill (Valerie) and Tom (Lynda.) Her memory will be cherished in the hearts of her 11 grandchildren: Anthony, Deborah (Randy), Todd (Cathy), Lezlie (Bob), Michael (Rhonda), Bruce, Murray (Leanne), Sharon (Shawn), Trevor (Elaine), Adam and Courtney as well by her 9 great-grandchildren: Alicia, Brittany, Jayla, Kyle, Katie, Colton, Kennady, Cory (Natasha) and Kiera. Peter died peacefully in Toronto on November 29, 2007 at Saint Michael's Hospital. Beloved husband of Diane (née MADILL) and father to Robin, Kenny, and Jamie. Remembered by his sisters Diana RIDLEY (Michael,) Derry CARR (Steve,) brother Richard, father-in-law J. Arthur MADILL, sister-in-law Jennifer MADILL, brother-in-law Kenny MADILL (Rochelle,) nieces, nephews and his extended McLernon family. Born and raised in Montreal, Peter moved to Toronto in the 1970's. His entire career was centred in the investment business, retiring early from Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce World Markets in the spring of 2006. Peter's passions included fishing, hunting, golf, and summers in North Hatley, Quebec. His family extends their sincere gratitude to the professionals at Saint Michael's Hospital in Emergency, Step-Up (14th Floor) and Intensive Care Unit. Their outstanding care and support was deeply appreciated. Peter, independent by nature, embodied life to the fullest and we will miss him. A service will be held at The Unity Church, 173 Eglinton Avenue West, Toronto (2 stoplights west of Yonge Street) on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 2 p.m. Parking is available next door at the Morley Bedford Funeral Home.
