Of Hanover, passed away suddenly as the result of an automobile accident on Saturday, August 11, 2007. She was 33. Survived by her husband Bernard “Bernie” LANTZ, infant (6 weeks) son Tanner William LANTZ, parents Ralph and Pauline DIEMERT of R.R.#5 Mildmay, maternal grandmother of Mary Ann GRUBB of Hanover, sisters Lori (Charles) VICTOR of Toronto, Lisa (Peter) PROUDLOVE of Barrie, brother Joe DIEMERT (friend Janelle) of Regina, Saskatchewan, parents-in-law Harold and Hazel LANTZ of Neustadt, brothers-in-law Grant (Theresa) LANTZ of Hanover, Durwin (Sheila) LANTZ of Mount Forest, Brian LANTZ (friend Julie) of Hanover. Predeceased by grandfather Philip GRUBB and grandparents Joe and Marie DIEMERT. Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Thursday 2-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 24, 2007 at 10: 30 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Hanover. Father Mervin PERERA officiating. Interment in Holy Family Cemetery, Hanover. Pallbearers will be Joe DIEMERT, Charles VICTOR, Peter PROUDLOVE, Grant LANTZ, Durwin LANTZ and Brian LANTZ. SMALLMAN, Lois Adeen (née LLOYD) M.D., (F.R.C.S.C)
On Thursday, December 28, 2006 in Toronto, after a lengthy illness borne with grace and courage. She was the beloved wife of William Wilson SMALLMAN, Q.C. for 46 years. Dearly loved mother of Anne (Timothy GALLAGHER) and Catherine (John GRANT.) Cherished grandmother 'Lolo' of Connor, Claire and Carlyle GALLAGHER and Emma, Nicole and Elizabeth GRANT. She leaves her sisters Mary McCABE (Toronto) and Nora KERR (Sarasota, Florida) and her brother Tracy LLOYD (Beaconsfield, Quebec). A private family committal was held on January 4, 2007 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Lois was first educated at Hillcrest School and Moulton Ladies College. She graduated from Victoria College in Home Economics and the University of Toronto in Medicine. Under the Addison Memorial Fellowship from Victoria College she spent her last year of medical school at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. She then continued her education in London, England as an R.S. McLaughlin Travelling Fellow. She visited the eye clinics of Europe before returning to Toronto to begin her practice of ophthalmology. Practicing under her maiden name, Doctor Lois LLOYD was a neuroophthalmologist at the Toronto General Hospital, the Hospital for Sick Children and the Toronto Western Hospital. She was also an associate professor at the University of Toronto Department of Ophthalmology. Lois was a pioneer. She was the first woman to receive an F.R.C.S.(C) in ophthalmology and the first woman to be given an R.S. McLaughlin Travelling Fellowship in surgery. She also had the privilege of being invited to join the American Ophthalmological Society. Lois took great joy in sharing time with her family, playing sports and spending summers in Muskoka. She was a champion golfer, diver and swimmer at U of T. At the age of 15 she won low net at the Ontario Junior Golf Championship. She was also a four-time ladies golf club champion at Muskoka Lakes Golf and Country Club. She constantly contributed to her community. Following her graduation, Lois received the Gold Key from University of Toronto for outstanding contributions to student life. She was Vice-President of the student council and President of the Medical Women's Undergraduate Association. Lois was a true lady. She was softspoken and gentle in nature. She had high standards. Her inner strength and kindness toward others knew no bounds. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, 230 St. Clair Avenue West (2 blocks west of Avenue Road) on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 11 a.m., followed by a reception at the Church. If desired, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario (1-888-473-4636), the Parkinson Society of Canada (1-866-264-3345) or the Hospital for Sick Children Foundation (for Ophthalmology) (1-800-661-1083). We regret to announce the death of Mrs. J. Ruth Lloyd HENDERSON, beloved widow of the late William E. HENDERSON, well known teacher at Saltus Grammar School Bermuda and organist at the Bermuda Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity; of South Court Ave. Paget, Bermuda in her 55th year. A Requiem Mass celebrating her life was held on Tuesday September 11, 2007 at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity at 11: 00 a.m. A Private Interment followed in Wesley Methodist Cemetery, Pembroke. It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley at the Guelph General Hospital, on Sunday, September 23, 2007. Shirley (née STONE) SIBBALD, in her 90th year, was the beloved wife of the late John (Jack) SIBBALD. She will be remembered by her daughters Nancy (Jim DAVIDSON,) Sue (Jim TAILOR/TAYLOR,) and daughter-in-law Connie SIBBALD, by her grandchildren Tammie, Martyn, Robert, Kathleen, Georgina, Jonathan, Andrew, and Michael, and by her five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Shirley was a close cousin of Ben LLOYD and a dear friend of Marion HARDY. She was predeceased by her parents Reginald and Helen STONE, by her brothers Gerald, William, and Edward STONE, and by her son Doctor William SIBBALD. Helen's family is very sad to announce her recent passing. Helen died peacefully with family by her side. Predeceased by John LLOYD, her loving husband of 54 years. Cherished mother of Brian, Debbie (Henjo NETTESHEIM,) and Carol (Tim PINNINGTON,) and sadly missed by grandchildren Katy, Carly, Cameron and Adam. Survived by her sisters Frances and Billie (Dorothy), predeceased by sister Norma and brothers Whitney, Gordon and Bob. Helen enjoyed a vibrant social life with her wonderful Friends. Her inner strength touched all those who knew her and she enriched the lives of all of us who loved her.
