LILL, Robert George (January 10, 1918-September 16, 2007)
Bob, beloved husband of Mary, passed away peacefully on a beautiful sunny day on Sunday, September 16, 2007 surrounded by his family in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 89 years.
Bob was born in Toronto, Ontario and was raised in Belleville, Ontario and Corbyville, Ontario. He graduated with a B. Sc. in geology from Queen's University in 1940. In addition to being a devoted husband, he was a father extraordinaire to his four children, and the world's best Grandpa. Bob, a professional engineer, had a long and distinguished career as a petroleum geologist and executive, pursuing his profession in the Caribbean and South America as well as in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Bob, a true gentleman with a resolute hold on a fine set of values, loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was an avid golfer, skier, sailor and sportsman who enjoyed a wonderful retirement including many years in Rio Verde, Arizona.
Bob will be celebrated and remembered for his astute observations, business acumen and a tremendous sense of humour. He will definitely be missed and remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Besides his soulmate of sixty-one years, Mary, Bob is survived by his four children, Marilyn (Len HENDRICKSON,) John (Phyllis,) David (Colleen) and Steven (Esther); and his ten grandchildren, Rob, Christie (Cory), Tom (Kristy), Mary-Catherine, James (Jen), Marilyn, Geoff, Caroline, Brady and Matthew. He was predeceased by his parents John William and Christian Mitchell LILL; and his brothers Jack (Mary) and Ted (Peggy).
A Celebration of Bob's life will be held at McInnis and Holloway'S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, Alberta) on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 10: 30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. At Woodingford Lodge on Monday, January 8, 2007. Gladys Jean PROUT (née LILLEY) of Woodstock in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Albert Henry PROUT. Dear mother of Jim and his wife Diane of B.C., Gerry and his wife Bev of Alberta, David and his wife Linda of Woodstock, Ruth Anne WEISLER and her husband Terry of Princeton and Marie PROUT of Meaford. Loved grandma of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also survived by Alec LILLEY and his wife Wilma of Princeton, Harriet CASLER and her late husband Harold of Princeton, Ina LITTLEJOHNS and her late husband Harry of Wooodstock, Blanche LILLEY and the late Clarence of Norwich and Phyllis LILLEY and the late Arthur of Woodstock. Gladys is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by her children Alberta, Raymond and Robert. Friends may call at the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004) on Thursday, January 11, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday at 11: 00 a.m. with Rev. Marian HAGGERTY officiating. Interment later in Princeton Cemetery. Contributions to the Old Saint Paul's Anglican Church Princeton, Floreat Rebekah Lodge Princeton or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Peacefully at the Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound on Thursday evening July 5, 2007. In her 80th year, Grace Hunter TAUNTON (née BAXTER.) Beloved wife of the late Roy Wilfred TAUNTON. Loved mother of Bruce TAUNTON and his wife Kay, Janice and her husband Lorne PARKIN, Steven TAUNTON, Kim LANG and Christopher TAUNTON and his wife Teirney. Loving grandmother of eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Bill BAXTER and his wife Audrey. Predeceased by her sister Jean LILLIE. Interment will be in Oxenden Cemetery.
