by over 20 years in Fredericton, then another 23 years in Ottawa.

the Registered Music Teachers' Associations in New Brunswick
and Ontario, music festivals in Fredericton and Ottawa and Gilbert
and Sullivan Societies in Fredericton and Ottawa. Friends are

SHAROUN,
Hilda
Emma (née
WAKULAT)
Sadly on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 in her 89th year after a
lengthy battle with cancer, Hilda died peacefully at the Baycrest
Palliative Care Unit.
Loving mother of John and his wife Gail, proud grandmother of
Adriana SHAROUN, and Cassandra, Alexandra and William
KAVLUK,
dear aunt to John
WAKULAT and his wife
Grace, and great aunt
to Robert and Tania
WAKULAT.
Hilda is survived by her younger
sister Else, nephews Rolf, Gerhard, Reiner and nieces Ingrid
and Lily along with many younger generations of family in Germany.
Hilda immigrated to Canada by herself in the early 50's to seek
a new life and some years later sponsored her nephew John to
join her in her new country. In the meantime she married Joseph
SHAROUN, had a son John, and played a significant role in establishing
a successful family business in Downtown Toronto. Predeceased
by husband Joseph in the mid 60's, life was not always easy as
she successfully ran the business and brought up a young not
always cooperative teenager.
Then as she battled her cancer she taught us all tremendous courage,
perseverance, a stubborn desire to succeed, and a will to fight
and overcome adversity with great dignity that will stay with
us for the rest of our lives.
Special thanks to Doctor Sandy
BUCHMAN who provided compassionate
care and advice throughout and to the nursing staff at Baycrest
6 West, an exceptional group of wonderful people, who were of
great comfort to Mother and the family.
A private family funeral service will be held with cremation
to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer
Society would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Turner and
Porter Yorke Chapel, 416-767-3153.
