BENDER, Ronald Cecil (1946-2007)
Retired Teacher Ottawa Carleton District School Board. 1st recipient of the Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence in Science, Technology and Mathematics. Recipient of the University of Waterloo Descartes Award
Passed away in Ottawa, on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Best friend and husband of Sharon Ann (nee BOYD) for 37 years. Loving father of Matt (Jennifer BELLMAN) and Amy; proud and doting Papa of Callum. Dear brother of Pat (Jim BARBER,) Judy (Tim OLAVESON) and Rob. Cherished son-in-law of Mrs. Velma DUNN. He will be fondly remembered by his entire family and his many, many Friends. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks for the exceptional care and compassion Ron received from Doctor HUEBSCH, Doctor TAY, Sheryl McDIARMID, Gail MacARTNEY, Harry HOPKINS, and the staff of both 5 West and the Intensive Care Unit at the Ottawa General Hospital. Memorial visitation will be held at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Rd (at Albion Rd, one block east of Bank St) on Sunday, June 17th from 12 noon-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. and Monday, June 18th from 9: 30 a.m. until service time in the Chapel at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that a donation be made in Ron's memory to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, Rm H2411, 40 Ruskin St. Ottawa, Ontario K1Y 4W7 or the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, 503 Smyth Rd. BOWDEN, Edna (née SHAW)
Of Lions head passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, December 30, 2006 in her 92nd year. Cherished mother of Elaine (Ivan) WHITE/WHYTE of Lions Head, Marian (Al) PROCTOR of Ajax, Lenn (Gloria) BOWDEN of Strathroy, Murray BOWDEN of Sarnia, Dianne (John) INNES of Brantford and Sharon (Peter) FRANCIS of St. Albert, Alberta. She will be sadly missed by 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Edna was predeceased by her husband Bill, parents Myrtle (PARSONS) and Charles SHAW, brother Norman SHAW and grand_son Robbie BOWDEN. The funeral service to celebrate Edna's life was held on Sunday, December 31, 2006 at the Bethel Missionary Church, 18 Ferndale Road, Lions head at 3: 00 p.m. with Pastor Billy STRACHAN officiating. Interment Eastnor Cemetery. The pallbearers were David PROCTOR, Sean FITZPATRICK, Sandy INNES, John HUEHN, Shantie SIVARAJAH and Murray MIELHAUSEN. At Lee Manor in Owen Sound Tuesday morning August 21, 2007. Howard CRUICKSHANK of R.R.#3, Allenford, in his 92nd year. After a valiant struggle, Howard has gone home to be with his Lord. Beloved husband of Edith (MacDONALD.) Loved father of Barbara (Robert) HUEHN of Sauble Beach, Mary (Orville) GUNSON of R.R.#3, Tara, Jean (Phillip) HUTCHINS of Port Perry, Ruth VAN ECK of Bognor and George CRUICKSHANK of Owen Sound. Lovingly remembered by his nine grandchildren; David GUNSON, Carol Ann (GUNSON) BERNARD, Justin, Craig, Ryan, Tara and Paul HUTCHINS, Jeffrey and Lisa VAN ECK and one great-granddaughter Emma BERNARD. YUSKEWICH, John
Passed away after a courageous and well fought battle with Emphysema at Laurentian Hospital in Sudbury on June 20, 2007.
John was born in Ukraine on April 4, 1904, in the Village of Werchrata, Rawaruska District Halychyna, son of the late Petro YUSKEWICH and Anne (HUK.)
He was predeceased by his sister Maria SMUT, cousins Doris GUAY and Polly CZEREWKO.
John came to Canada in 1948 to Wishart, Saskatchewan, sponsored by Fred G. Bzdel. He went to Winnipeg in 1949 to his aunt Julie TYPA, where he worked for the C.N.R. In 1950 he moved to Sudbury where he worked for Inco in the mines and smelter until his retirement in 1984. At the mine he was known by his fellow workers as "Fur Coat Johnny".
John is survived by his nephew Michael DUDA, his wife Louise and their son Sebastien in Montreal. Nieces Katyryna KUZMIAK and Maria SZCZERBIK both in Ukraine. Cousins Harry TYPA, Joanne HEALEY and Helen HUEN in Winnipeg, Michael CZEREWKO in Havelock. Joan PETERS, Janet PETERS, Steve PETERS, Joseph PETERS, his wife Irene in Saint Thomas.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Staff at Westmount Retirement Home and the Doctors and Nurses at Saint_Joseph's and Laurentian Hospitals.
Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, Sudbury. Funeral Mass in Saint Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 40 Notre Dame Ave., Tuesday, June 26th, 2007 at 10 a.m. Interment in the Civic Cemetery, Second Ave. Donations to Saint Mary's Church or charity of your choice would be appreciated. On Monday January 8, 2007 with her family at her side at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie in her 60th year. Donna of New Lowell, beloved wife of Bill. Loving mother of Charlien STULL, Loralee and her husband Jim RAWN, Bill and his wife Wendy and Patrick. Cherished grandmother of Kyle, Jessica, Denise, Spencer, Miranda, Caroline and Nicole. Dear daughter of Donald and Norma HUESTIS. Donna will be missed by her siblings Myrna and Brian DYKEMAN, Richard HUESTIS and Vincent and Marjorie HUESTIS and by her father-in-law Percy CASEY and the entire Casey family. Passed away peacefully in Richmond Hill, Ontario on October 12, 2007. Born in Edmonton, Alberta on November 11, 1920 to the late George Heath MacDONALD and Dorothea (HUESTIS) MacDONALD. Beloved mother of Robert Bruce WILSON (Bogusia), Heather Joan WILLSON and John Stuart WILSON (Angela.) Beloved grandmother of Rebecca WILLSON, Mathew WILLSON, Simon IWADE (Nao) and Karen IWADE. Recently, delighted great-grandmother of Leon IWADE. Married May 29, 1943 to Bruce Franklin WILSON of Edmonton until his passing in 1991. Cherished companion of Richard CORBETT of Unionville, Ontario. A Bachelors of Arts graduate of the University of Alberta in 1942, Joan spent her married life in Edmonton, Calgary and Thornhill, Ontario and was active in many volunteer activities including the University Women's Club (President of North York Chapter), Consumer's Association of Canada (Toronto), Ontario Golf Association (where she taught the rules of golf and assisted in organizing tournaments) and Living and Learning in Retirement at York University (President for 2 years). A long time member of York Downs Golf Club, she served on the Club's Board of Directors for 4 years and as president of the ladies section. Her passions in life included bridge, golf, gardening and travel, whether to experience new far-flung destinations, or to visit Friends and family in Western Canada, Israel or Japan. Her enthusiasm for life was hard to keep up with, and even at 86, she was a bundle of energy, always concerned about looking after her family and Friends before herself. Friends will be recieved at Highland Funeral HomeMarkham Chapel (northeast corner of 16th avenue and 404) on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service on Tuesday October 16th at 10: 00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment at Elgin Mills Cemetery.

PAPOE, Robert M. " Bob"
Bob died unexpectedly in his sleep on Friday, December 7, 2007 at the age of 52. His family and Friends will remember him for his love of politics, the written word, the Dallas Cowboys and for his strong opinions. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Betty and Jim and his older brother Jim. He is survived by his sister Mary-Anne HUESTIS (Chris,) Laura SINCLAIR (Gordon) and his sister-in-law Peggy PAPOE. Bob was a larger than life character, a devoted uncle to Jeffrey and Peter HUESTIS, Alex and Patrick SINCLAIR, Katie PAPOE and his four footed friend Brodie. He will be sorely missed. HUESTON, Arthur MacDiarmid
At his residence on Saturday, October 20, 2007. Arthur MacDiarmid HUESTON of Aylmer died peacefully in his sleep of old age in his 93rd year.
Beloved husband of the late Lois (FERGUSON) HUESTON (1993.) Dear father of Jane HUESTON of Ottawa, John HUESTON and his wife Karen of Aylmer and Joan HUESTON of Windsor. Loved by grandchildren Brett, Renée and Eric HUESTON of Aylmer. Brother of Edward HUESTON of London and the late Margaret WATSON and William HUESTON.
Born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on April 28, 1915, son of the late Henry and Edith HUESTON. Arthur was the owner of The Aylmer Express, among the few independent publishers left in southwestern Ontario. He came to Aylmer in 1947 and was an active member of the community. He was a past member of the Sarnia Kinsmen Club, past president of the Aylmer Rotary Club, a former member of Aylmer Town Council. He was a founding director of Pleasant Valley Golf Club. He was a member of Col. Talbot Branch #81 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Aylmer. Mr. HUESTON was a veteran of the Second Great War, a lieutenant with the Essex Scottish Regiment in their raid on Dieppe. He spent the remainder of the war in a prisoner of war camp at Eichstadt, Germany.
Friends may call at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 11: 00 a.m. The Rev.
