On Monday December 3, 2007, at the joyous age of 100 at his home. Sam GOTFRID, beloved husband of the late Freda GOTFRID. Loving father of the late Peter GOTFRID. Loving father and father-in-law of Meg and Louis FIENBERG and much loved grandfather of Harris, all of Larchmont, New York. Dear brother of the late Nathan GOTFRID, Sadie BERG, and Harold GOTFRID. Dear brother-in-law of Rose MENDELSON. Sam practiced law in Toronto for close to 60 years. He was a well respected community leader and was loved by all who knew him. At Holy Blossom Temple, 1950 Bathurst Street, (Bathurst south of Eglinton) for service on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at 2: 00 p.m. Interment Holy Blossom Memorial Park. Shiva 77 Clarendon Avenue #402. Peacefully, on Sunday, October 21, 2007 in his 78th year at Princess Margaret Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Millie GOTLIB. Loving father and father-in-law of Wendy and Joel LEHRER, and Heidi FRANKEL. Special grandpa of Erin. Dear brother of Faye LEVEY, Tamar FREEMAN, and the late Mynne GARR, and Reuben and Issie FRANKEL. Sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. NEAMTAN, Gertrude Rhoda (née GOTLIB)
Born in Toronto March 11, 1917, died in Montreal December 14, 2007 at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late Irving Norman NEAMTAN ('Neamie') and beloved mother of Judith (Rick GORDON) of Vancouver and Nancy (Victor LAPALME) of Montreal. Grandmother to Joshua GORDON, Louis NEAMTAN- LAPALME and Gabrielle NEAMTAN- LAPALME. Dear sister of the Honorable Lorraine GOTLIB (Chris PATERSON) and the late Dorothy Gordon BUCK of Toronto. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. Gert lived a long, happy and productive life as wife, mother, friend, and dedicated social worker. Many thanks to the caregivers at Le Waldorf and her special caregiver Evina Munro for their compassionate and tender care in her last years. Peacefully, after a brief illness, at Sunnybrook Medical Centre on Monday, July 2, 2007. Nick, loving husband of Margaret (nee SMYTHE) and loving father of Janet and her husband Marko GOTOWIEC and Jim and his wife Kathy LYE. Proud and loving grandfather of James and Sarah GOTOWIEC and Heather and Joanne LYE. Predeceased by his brother Doug and will be lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law Elizabeth. Peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in her 80th year. Beloved wife of Nick, who passed away July 2, 2007. Loving and devoted Mum of Janet and her husband Marko GOTOWIEC and Jim and his wife Kathy. Cherished Nana of James and Sarah GOTOWIEC, and Heather and Joanne LYE. Dear sister of James and his wife Dorothy SMYTHE. Margaret will be sadly missed by all her family, her dear friend Phyllis Sullivan, her wealth of caring Friends, and her wonderful class of '49 (Wellesley Hospital). It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Martha Evelyn PYPER (LOCKWOOD) on October, 11, 2007 in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Donald Gardner, devoted mother of Sandy (Janet), Liz and Ian, loving grandmother of Madeleine (Tina), Tim, Donald and Rosalind and adoring great-grandmother of Delwyn. The family would like to thank Doctor G. CHRISTAKIS, Doctor N. ADHIKARI and the staff of the cardio-vascular intensive care unit at Sunnybrook Hospital for their wonderful care.
