BRAY, Julia (née HOATH)
Of Golden Dawn Nursing Home, Lions head passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2007 in her 94th year. Beloved wife of Claren BAKER of Lions Head. She will be missed by sisters Inez BYERS and Iva (Maurice) FLETCHER both of Kitchener, sister-in-law Marion HOATH of Wiarton and Verniece BAKER and step-daughters Ruth BAKER (Dave MUNN), Mary BAKER (Ron DEMARS), Evelyn (Melvin) McCUTCHEON and Leona (Murray) BAIN. Julia is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Byron BRAY, parents Tom and Mae HOATH of Hope Ness, brother Lloyd HOATH, sisters Gertrude (James) SHAW, Alma (Bill) PILKEY and Eva (Mansell) SCHALM and brother-in-law Austin BYERS. The family will receive Friends at the Bethel Missionary Church, 18 Ferndale Road, Lions head on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 from 1: 00 p.m. until the time of the service to celebrate Julia's life at 2: 00 p.m. with Pastor Charles GINGERICH officiating. Interment Eastnor Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the George Funeral Home, Wiarton. Of Hope Ness passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 in her 70th year. Cherished mother of Shelley DEBOK and her husband Tony of Owen Sound, Kathryn GREIG and her friend Mike PORTER of Owen Sound and Chuck GREIG of Vancouver, British Columbia. Cherished Oma of Dana, Justin, Jade and Dalton DEBOK and Spencer, Kaitlyn and Lily GREIG. She will be sadly missed by her mother Laura HAHN of Wiarton, sister Brenda (Barry) GILBERT of Wiarton and sisters-in-law Alice (Bill) THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON, Marg HAHN, Beatrice PRUDER and Leona GREIG. Helen was predeceased by her husband Bev, daughter Susan in infancy, father George HAHN and brother Norman HAHN. The family will receive Friends at the Davidson Chapel, 71 Main Street, Lion's head on Friday, October 19, 2007 from 2: 00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Helen's life will be held at the Bethel Missionary Church, 18 Ferndale Road, Lion's head on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 2: 00 p.m. with Rev. HILL, Ernest Hugh Knowles, B.Th., M.A., M.Li.S.
The family is saddened to announce that suddenly, as the result of a recent illness, Hugh HILL, Library director at Emmanuel Bible College, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2007 in his 50th year. Hugh was the loving husband and best friend to Gail (née McMILLAN) and adoring Dad to Liam and Miriam. He is survived by his father Stanley HILL, sister Alexis DICKSON/DIXON (Scott) of Orangeville, and brother John of Kitchener, Hugh was loved as a son by in-laws Don and Eileen McMILLAN of Owen Sound, and also leaves brother-in-law Eldon McMILLAN (Linda,) sisters-in-law, Sheila TEDFORD (Richard) and Carol WALKER (Wayne) all of Owen Sound. Also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Elva (1989.) Ernest Hugh Knowles HILL was born in Ballymena, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland on August 14, 1958, Hugh emigrated to Canada as a child with his family, residing first in Toronto and then Brampton, and following his marriage to Gail, the family settled in Kitchener, were both Liam and Miriam were born. Hugh was an ardent student of many forms of literature, but was particularly well-read in his field of Christian theology. He was a passionate collector of books and loved to search out new titles to acquire. As an ardent bird-watcher, he also amassed a collection of prints and water colours depicting many of his favourites. An accomplished musician Hugh expressed his abilities in practical ways through he and Gail's involvement in the music ministry at several Kitchener churches, most recently Bethany Evangelical Missionary Church. Friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Tuesday, October 30 from 7-9 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral services will be held at Bethany Evangelical Missionary Church 160 Lancaster St. E. Kitchener on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 2 p.m. Doctor Rev. Virgil GINGERICH, Dr. Rev. Mercifully released from suffering to a better life, Nancy Anne (née KIRKPATRICK,) in her 72nd year. Predeceased by beloved daughter Catherine (1978). Survived by loving family, husband Gary, sons Michael and Robert, grandchildren Stefanie and Andrew, daughter-in-law Helen and mother-in-law Blanche. Also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and their families, special "sister" Joyce GINGERICH of Sarnia and cousin Barry CUNNINGHAM of Colorado and their families and her many dear Friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday January 13, 2007 at the London Gospel Temple, 288 Commissioners Rd. W. Peacefully at Lee Manor in Owen Sound on Thursday July 19, 2007. In his 87th year, Nyle H. BRUNK, loving husband of Marion BRUNK (née JONES) and the late Alma (née HIPEL.) Loving father of Sharon and her husband John DANILKO, Beverley O'DONOGHUE, Rodger and his wife Jan, Gwen and her husband Neil LAMONT and Karen MORRISON. Loved grandfather and great-grandfather. Dear brother of Jean (Mrs. Allan BOWRING), Delmer BRUNK and his wife Jean, Della (Mrs. Albert WATTS), Helen (Mrs. John GINGRICH), and Betty (Mrs. Bob BORDER). SMITH, Kathleen Carrie (August 12, 1915-September 8, 2007)
Kathleen Carrie SMITH, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the age of 92 years surrounded by her family.
Kathleen was born in Simcoe, Ontario on August 12, 1915. After World War 2 Kay and her beloved husband, Walter chose to settle in Richmond Hill, Ontario and over fifty-three years, happily raised their family. They were true community builders, sharing their energy, time and talents in a variety of organizations including the community arena, the curling rink, York Central Hospital Auxiliary (a charter member with thirty-eight years of service), the Canadian Cancer Society and Richmond Hill United Church. The couple greatly enjoyed the Square Dancing Club and the Curtain Drama Club. Kay had a life long passion for the Performing Arts and in her later years took great delight in classic movies. To round out her activities, Kay owned and operated an upscale clothing consignment shop for several years. In 1999, Kay moved to Calgary to begin a new chapter in her life and to be closer to her family.
All of her life Kay provided guidance and support for all of her Friends, associates and family members and she always did this in a warm and gracious manner.
Kathleen will be lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Christine SMITH of Halifax; her daughter and son-in-law, Charleen and Chris EVANS of Invermere; and by her grandchildren, Lesley (Robert) BECHTOLD, of Maine; Geoffrey (Bridget) SMITH of Kingston; Lyndsey (Darrin) BONNELLY of Halifax; Meaghan EVANS and Kash GINIGE of Calgary; Craig (Flo) EVANS of New York; and by seven great-grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Patricia HORNE of Tillsonburg and Sheila EDEY of Sudbury; her uncle Ben SPENCE of Burlington; and by her cousins, Morleen BOUSFIELD of Toronto and Miriam FICK of Thornhill. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Walter and by her sister Joyce STANLEY.
Funeral Services were held at McDougall United Church in Calgary, Alberta on Tuesday, September 11, 2007. A Graveside Service will be held in Ontario at a later date.
