Kathleen Carrie
SMITH, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother
passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the
age of 92 years surrounded by her family.
Kathleen was born in Simcoe, Ontario on August 12, 1915. After
World War 2 Kay and her beloved husband, Walter chose to settle
in Richmond Hill, Ontario and over fifty-three years, happily
raised their family. They were true community builders, sharing
their energy, time and talents in a variety of organizations
including the community arena, the curling rink, York Central
Hospital Auxiliary (a charter member with thirty-eight years
of service), the Canadian Cancer Society and Richmond Hill United
Church. The couple greatly enjoyed the Square Dancing Club and
the Curtain Drama Club. Kay had a life long passion for the Performing
Arts and in her later years took great delight in classic movies.
To round out her activities, Kay owned and operated an upscale
clothing consignment shop for several years. In 1999, Kay moved
to Calgary to begin a new chapter in her life and to be closer
to her family.
All of her life Kay provided guidance and support for all of
her Friends, associates and family members and she always did
this in a warm and gracious manner.
Kathleen will be lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law,
