Passed away at the General and Marine Hospital, Collingwood on Thursday, May 24, 2007. Marie GIFFEN of R.R.#2, Minesing, In her 83rd year. Beloved wife of the late Russell SAGE. Dear mother of Nelson (Judy) SAGE of Thamesville, Howard (Brenda) SAGE of Orr Lake and Glen (Vivian) SAGE of Wasaga Beach. Loved grandmother of Greg (Georgina), Colleen, Christa (Dave), Craig (Christy), Darren, Brad and Melissa. Great-grandmother of Kayla, Olivia, Shelby, Tristian, Sydney, Reaghan and Jadyn. Sister of Norm (Della) GIFFEN and the late Wilfred (Gilda) GIFFEN. Friends may call at the Lynn-Stone Funeral Home, Elmvale from 12-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Went to be with his Lord at Lee Manor on Wednesday, September 5th, 2007, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of the late Gladys GIFFIN (2006.) Beloved father of Ina (Howard) BENTLEY, Owen Sound, Daryl (Debbie) GIFFIN, Barrie, Valerie (Wolfgang) SCHMUDE, St. Catharines. Dear grandfather of Scott and Jeremy BENTLEY, Seann and Kyle GIFFIN, Bryanna McMANUS, Aaron and Andrew SALIBA and great-grandfather of Zoya GIFFIN. Survived by his sisters Ilene ENOS, Olive ENOS and Ruby CONVERY. Predeceased by his granddaughter Taryn GIFFIN. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday, September 9th from 2: 00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, September 10th at 11: 00 a.m. Interment White Chapel Memorial Gardens. GIFFORD, John Marston (1916-2007)
Died peacefully, courageously and with grace in his 91st year after a long series of illnesses at Kingston General Hospital on Thursday, May 31, 2007. Known as "Giff", "Poppy Giff" and "Grampa Giff", he was also husband to his pre-deceased wife, Barbara or "Cuddie" (née MacNEE) for over 47 years. He was a soldier, business executive, senior public servant and consultant. As a father his values, role model, people skills and humour will be carried forward by his sons, Tony (Nancy MOOERS) with their daughters, Lee SIMMS (Mike), Sally and Kathleen, Andy (Leslie DENMAN,) and Walter (Josephine CUMMING) with their sons, Peter and Matthew, and daughter, Kate. As a Great-Grandfather he is survived by his two cherished great-grandchildren, Charlie and Elspeth SIMMS. His family will remember and cherish his wonderful joke telling and laughter, his love of reading, music (especially jazz) and learning, his charity and community work, his attentively listening when we needed advice or a nudge to do the right thing, Deepest thanks are offered to the staff at Briargate Retirement Home and the doctors and nurses at Kingston General Hospital for their care, kindness and advice to John and his family. The family will receive Friends at the Robert J. It is with great sadness that we announce his sudden passing at home, Saturday August 25th 2007 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of 61 years to Madeleine. Much loved father of Jim (Janet), Harry, Cathy (Jean DANSEREAU), Geoff, and Jo (Walter GIFFORD). Proud grandfather of Blair, Jared, Pax and Leah, Jennie and Geoff, Pascal (Shelly), Michele (Mathieu), Stephanie (Nicolas) and Jessica (Keven), Peter, Matthew and Kate; and great-grandfather of Sofia, Olivier, Eloise and Benjamin. Survived by his sister Betty THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON. Predeceased by his brothers Donald and John. Hal will be especially remembered by many other close family members and longtime Friends. Born in Bashaw, Alberta, World War 2 Royal Canadian Air Force flight lieutenant and instructor, graduated from Queen's medicine 1951, he practiced family medicine in Kingston until 1986. Hal's great passion for life and family and his love of genealogy and history gave him the strength and courage to face his many medical challenges. Family and Friends will be received at the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Blvd. at Highway 2) on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial Service to be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 11 a.m. with reception to follow.
