Marston (1916-2007)
Died peacefully, courageously and with grace in his 91st year
after a long series of illnesses at Kingston General Hospital
on Thursday, May 31, 2007. Known as "Giff", "Poppy Giff" and
"Grampa Giff", he was also husband to his pre-deceased wife,
Barbara or "Cuddie" (née
MacNEE) for over 47 years. He was a
soldier, business executive, senior public servant and consultant.
As a father his values, role model, people skills and humour
will be carried forward by his sons, Tony (Nancy
MOOERS) with
their daughters, Lee
SIMMS (Mike), Sally and Kathleen, Andy (Leslie
DENMAN,) and Walter (Josephine
CUMMING) with their sons, Peter
and Matthew, and daughter, Kate. As a Great-Grandfather he is
survived by his two cherished great-grandchildren, Charlie and
Elspeth SIMMS.
His family will remember and cherish his wonderful
joke telling and laughter, his love of reading, music (especially
jazz) and learning, his charity and community work, his attentively
listening when we needed advice or a nudge to do the right thing,
Deepest thanks are offered to the staff at Briargate Retirement
Home and the doctors and nurses at Kingston General Hospital
for their care, kindness and advice to John and his family. The
family will receive Friends at the Robert J. Reid and Sons Funeral
Home, 309 Johnson Street, (at Barrie Street) Kingston on Sunday

1951, he practiced family medicine in Kingston until 1986. Hal's
great passion for life and family and his love of genealogy and
history gave him the strength and courage to face his many medical
challenges. Family and Friends will be received at the James
Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Blvd.
at Highway 2) on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial Service to
be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 11 a.m.
