Commander Royal Canadian Navy (Retired)
Peacefully at home on January 8, 2007 at the age of 86 years. Husband of Rosemary S. FOOTE for 49 years and the late Margaret FOOTE. Father of Elysabeth (Doug FONGER) of Victoria, British Columbia, Ted (Jane) of Montreal, Quebec, John (Mary) of Burlington, Margaret of Oakville, Tom (Karyn) of Oakville, Daniel (Evangeline) of Toronto. Grandfather of Margaret, Laura, Jennifer, Bonnie, Megan, Ian, Brendan, Regan and Oia. Great-grandfather to Meadow Leigh. Served as a naval aviator on loan to the Royal Navy overseas in Britian, Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean and Indian Ocean during World War 2. Thereafter, continued in the Royal Canadian Navy and held various sea and shore appointments in Halifax and Shearwater, Nova Scotia, and Ottawa and Hamilton, Ontario. After retirement from the Navy in 1965 was on the staff of McMaster University as Associate Registrar (Health Sciences) for the Faculty of Medicine from its inception. In 1980 became Administrative Officer, Department of Psychiatry, University of Toronto (Clarke Institute). He was also active in several volunteer agencies in Oakville. Memorial service to be held at 11: 00 a.m. Thursday January 11, 2007 at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakehore Road West, Oakville.

On Friday, October 26, 2007 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital at the age of 98. Predeceased in 1997 by her husband Archibald ("Archie") George ELPHICK. Mother of Richard Hall (Ester TIMBANCAYA) ELPHICK of Middletown, Connecticut; and Douglas James ELPHICK (Anna THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON) of Mississauga, Ontario. Grandmother of Tomas ("Omay") Ponce de Leon (Gwendolyn FONSECA) ELPHICK of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; and Nenita Ponce de Leon ELPHICK of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Great-grandmother of Ian Ponce de Leon ELPHICK and Jocelyn Ponce de Leon ELPHICK. Fondly remembered by Lorenzo DUSO, Benedict ("Ben") Edward THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON, and Lynn Shapley BOYKO. Memorial Service at the Oakview Funeral Home, 56 Lakeshore Rd. W. Oakville, (one block east of Kerr St.) on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 2 p.m. Reception to follow.

FLOOREN, Michelle (née WESTERHOUT)
Has gone home to be with her friend, Jesus, peacefully on Saturday morning, October 20, 2007 at London Health Sciences Centre Victoria Campus with her devoted and loving husband, Wayne, by her side. Born March 29th, 1972 in Clinton, Ontario. Michelle was an amazing caring Mom, and will be sadly missed by her children, Brandon, Torrie and Stephanie, all at home in Strathroy. She is also survived by her mother, Sheryl STANLEY (Albert,) brother, Steve WESTERHOUT (Tanya,) step-mom, Pat WESTERHOUT, step-brothers, Christopher and Jonathan, sister-in-law, Wanda LANG (Darryl,) brother-in-law, Jim FLOOREN, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. Predeceased by her father, Hank WESTERHOUT and her mother-in-law, Muriel FLOOREN. Michelle will also be forever remembered by the multitude of Friends, neighbours and acquaintances who shared her life. Friends may call at Denning Bros. Funeral Home, Strathroy on Monday, October 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Michelle's life will be held at the Bethel Baptist Church, Strathroy on Tuesday, October 23 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ed FONTAINE officiating. At Michelle's request, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Bethel Baptist church Building Fund would be appreciated. A tree will be planted as a living memorial to Michelle.
