2007 at 1: 30 p.m. at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Hanover.
Rev. John POLACK officiated. Interment in Hanover Cemetery. Memorial
donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Bible Society
or the Arthritis Society were appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Suddenly but peacefully at his son's home in Cambridge on June 28
Syd▼ died in his 87th year. Husband of Ruth Eleanor (Rush)

Dear father of Stephen (Dee), the twins Brian and Beverly and
Grandfather to Brett, Timothy, Morgan, Kaitlyn and Samantha and
Great-Grandfather to Michele, Jade and Curtis. Syd was born in
Niagara Falls and leaves one sister Claire
ELDER of Campbell
River, British Columbia and many nieces and nephews. Syd served
six years in the Royal Canadian Air Force in World War 2, followed
by a number of years in sales in the K-W area. Out of his deep
faith, he felt called to become a candidate for ministry - the
first from First United Church, Waterloo - a decision made at
Five Oaks. His family supported this decision and awaited his
ordination in 1964. Syd's ministry continued as a student at
Christ the King and Bloomingdale United Churches. After ordination
the family moved to Oakville (Munn's United Church and a new
church development, Trinity United). Other churches served included
Burkholder, Hamilton and Trinity, Thorold until his retirement
in 1986. Over the years, Syd was very active in Presbytery and
Conference, even in retirement. He proudly completed his B.A.
at Wilfrid Laurier University in 1991. Syd and Ruth square danced,
traveled and cruised extensively while maintaining their cottages
at Sauble. It was a joy to have North Sauble Community Church
overflowing for their 50th and 60th Anniversaries. It is with
regret the 65th wedding anniversary will not happen on Labour
Day weekend 2007. Two memorial services will take place, Tuesday
July 3, 2007, 1 p.m. at Christ the King United Church, 167 Thaler
Ave., Kitchener and Saturday July 7, 2007, 1 p.m. at North Sauble
Community Church. Interment of cremated remains at Lakeview Cemetery,
Meaford, Ontario. Your expression of sympathy may be made to
