Chatham drowning victim identified
By Free Press Staff, Wed., August 1, 2007
A Chatham man whose body was found in Lake St. Clair Monday has
been identified, Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police said
yesterday. Seth
DEKKER, 29, was last seen about six kilometres
from shore in Mitchell's Bay on Saturday, police said.
Observers who saw him trying to get back into a small boat tried
to help him, but
DEKKER slipped out of sight, police said. The
Canadian Coast Guard, Ontario Provincial Police and the Chatham-Kent
fire department first scoured the lake where
DEKKER disappeared,
but were unsuccessful. An Ontario Provincial Police underwater
recovery unit found
DEKKER
Sunday afternoon about a mile from
where he was last seen. An autopsy ruled the cause of death as
drowning.
