Two die in head-on crash
One man was returning from a wedding, the other was a dad killed
on Father's Day.
By Jonathan
SHER,
Sun
Media,
Mon.,
June 18, 2007
The Father's Day weekend turned tragic for two families when
what began as a simple traffic manoeuvre near Stratford ended
with two men dead and a 11-year-old girl in critical condition.
Dusk had fallen Saturday when two vehicles crashed head-on along
Highway 7 eight kilometres east of Shakespeare.
The driver of a westbound car, Jeremy
CRINKLAW, 30, of Stratford,
had been returning home after celebrating his sister's wedding.
He edged his car into the eastbound lane as if to get a view
before passing another vehicle, witnesses: told police.
Instead, he collided head-on with an eastbound car.
The crash killed
CRINKLAW and the driver of the eastbound car,
Douglas STEWARD/STEWART/STUART, 50, of Oakville, who'd been sitting next to
his 11-year-old daughter, Emily.
"It's very tragic," Perth Ontario Provincial Police Const. Glen
CHILDERLEY said yesterday.
The girl suffered "life-threatening injuries" and was taken to
MacMaster Hospital in Hamilton, he said.
The crash closed traffic for several hours and Ontario Provincial
Police investigators were trying yesterday to confirm what had
happened.
