Suddenly at his residence on Thursday, November 1st, 2007, at the age of 71 years, Jim ESPLEN of Port Elgin and formerly of Burgoyne. Husband of the former Elaine DANIEL. Father of Lisa of Burgoyne and Kerri and her husband Kelly ANDREWS of Whitby. Grandpa to Curtis and Connor COBEAN, and Emma and Ben ANDREWS. Brother of Norma and her husband Clare LOCKMAN of London, Jean and her husband Gord SCOTT of Allenford, and Freda and her husband Al BARBER of Baden. Jim is also survived by his sisters-in-law Margaret ESPLEN, and Doreen and her husband Bev WARK, all of Port Elgin. He will be sadly missed by his special friend Eric LESLIE, and by his several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother-in-law Mac ESPLEN. Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin, (Town of Saugeen Shores) from 2: 00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 4th, 2007. Funeral services will be conducted in Port Elgin United Church, 840 Bruce Street, Port Elgin on Monday morning at 11: 00 a.m., with the Rev. Gordon WILLIAMS officiating. Interment Sanctuary Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation or to the Bruce County Plowmen's Association would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Peacefully at John Joseph Place in Owen Sound on Thursday December 20, 2007. In her 95th year, Edith Maria GALBRAITH (ne TRAVISS,) beloved wife of the late Gordon Edward GALBRAITH. Loving mother of Jessie and her husband Elgin VANWYCK. Dear mother-in-law of Doreen (Mrs. William GALBRAITH). Loved grandmother of Bonnie (Mrs. Mark PERRY), Stacie (Mrs. Shane COBURN), Arthur GALBRAITH, Melissa (Mrs. Sean IRELAND) and Rodney VANWYCK (Lori) and eight great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son William, a sister Gertrude (Mrs. Roy MILLER) and a brother Bertram TRAVISS. Suddenly at his residence in Wasaga Beach on Monday, July 30, 2007 in his 80th year. Formerly of Scarborough and Glasgow, Scotland. Jim, beloved husband of Maureen for 55 years. Devoted father of Jim (Sandy,) John (Janette,) Gerald (Leslie,) Maureen COBURN (Rick) and David (Karen). Precious Gramps of Caitlin, Lucy, William, Jimmy, John, Barbie, Susie, Aidan, Natalie, Steve, David, Jessie, Kristian and Avril. Predeceased by his 5 loving sisters and 2 brothers. Dearest uncle of Margaret, Patricia, Letty, Leonard, Kenneth, Ewen, Elizabeth and their families. Jim will be sadly missed by all his Friends in Canada and Scotland. Longtime Employee of Lever Brothers, Toronto. Friends called at the Watts Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 132 River Road East, Wasaga Beach (1 block east of Main Street), 705-429-1040 on Thursday August 2, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. Prayers were conducted at the Funeral Home on Thursday August 2 at 7: 30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Nol Chabanel Roman Catholic Church (20th Street North, Wasaga Beach) on Friday, August 3 at 10 a.m. Interment Wasaga Beach Cemetery. KEEFFE, John, Lt. Col., O.St.J., CD (Retired)
son of the late Lt. Col. and Mrs. George KEEFFE of Saint John, N.B., in his eighty-ninth year, on October 23, 2007, surrounded by family.
He was predeceased by his wife Macil (Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service) in their sixtieth year of marriage, by his brother George (Royal Canadian Air Force) and his sister Margaret (Canadian Women's Army Corps) all of whom served overseas during World War 2, where he was twice wounded.
He leaves his children Susan (Bill ALLEN,) Shelagh (Barry COBUS,) Penny (John McKAY), Pam (George STRATTON) Michael (Kathleen McFALL), Barbara, eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Most of his business life was dedicated to the Life Insurance industry in Canada and Bermuda, where he instituted formal training for professional designations for both sales and office personnel.
Although he had been a member of many clubs in Toronto, Bermuda and St. Simons Island, Georgia, he was most proud of being a "Gunner" and a "Maritimer".
A private family service was held. A celebration of John's life will take place in Muskoka and Saint_John at a future date.
