OESTRICHER. He was
born and raised in Strathroy, Ontario and graduated Master of
Science in Physics from the University of Western Ontario. He
began his research career in industry and retired as Professor
Emeritus from Ryerson University, Department of Electrical Engineering,
where he was a caring and committed teacher. Bob loved classical
music and sang baritone in many choirs including the Orpheus
Choir of Toronto, The Toronto Classical Singers and church choirs
at Bethesda and Jubilee United Churches. He was an enthusiastic
gardener, an avid reader and life-long learner. He will always
be remembered for his sense of humour, love of puns, crosswords,
wordplay and candid photography. The family will receive Friends
at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview
Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East) from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday,
November 14 and from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, November 15. A funeral
service of Remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 16
in Jubilee United Church, 40 Underhill Drive, Toronto. If Friends
so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Diabetes
Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. Condolences
and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.

Much loved
uncle and great uncle of many Auer and Ross nieces and nephews.
Dear friend since childhood of Henry Humphrey Moulton and Fred
Pillsbury, and of their wives Betsy and Bina.
Thanks to the staff of the Griffith McConnell Residence and the
Aylmer Must agency for their friendly, cheerful care.
Lew lived a full life: boyhood in New England; education at Milton
Academy and Harvard College; service in the South Pacific as
an officer in the U.S. Navy; employment with Dewey and Almy in
Cambridge and Montreal, with Alcan in Montreal, Ross Cutter in
Waltham, and Cambridge again with Harvard University Press; and
outdoor pursuits including sailing, cross country skiing and
walking. He retired in Montreal, spending time in voluntary activities
in the community and learnt to curl at the Royal Montreal Curling
Club. Lew's happiest moments were in the company of his family
and Friends.
Memorial service Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at 2 p.m., at the
Unitarian Church of Montreal, 5035 De Maisonneuve Blvd. West,
Montreal.
