(Anglican), Chatham on Monday January 15, 2007 at 1: 00 p.m. At
Joan's request, there will be no funeral home visitation. Interment
of ashes in Christ Church Memorial Garden at a later date. If
you wish, charitable contributions in Joan's memory, may be directed
to Christ Church Memorial Fund or the Lung Association of Chatham-Kent.

Helen had a wonderful 65 year partnership with Mel after they
met while working at The Toronto Star. They married in 1942,
just in time for Mel to enlist in the army. Special thanks to

CHOI and the staffs at Saint_Joseph's Health Centre
and Humber River Regional Hospital for their loving care. A private
family ceremony has been held and a celebration of her life will
be held on Saturday, September 22, 2007.

ARGYLE died peacefully on December 24, 2007
in Vancouver, British Columbia, in his 90th year. He is survived
by his wife, June, in Penticton, British Columbia, daughters
Georgia Janice in California and Phyllis Joan in North Vancouver,
and brother Ray in Toronto. He was predeceased by his parents,
Percy and Kate, and brothers Sidney and Wilbur (Bill). He was
born November 22, 1918 in Grayshott, England. He received his
early schooling in Manitoba and Creston, British Columbia, and
earned his B.A. and M.A. from the University of British Columbia,
followed by a PhD in Science. Doctor
ARGYLE had a distinguished
scientific career with The Dominion Astrophysical Observatory
in Victoria, British Columbia, and The Dominion Radio Astrophysical
Observatory in Penticton, British Columbia, which he helped establish
in 1959. He participated in various technical missions including
one to the Soviet Union and authored more than forty papers,
including works on the origins of life, for scientific journals.
Dr. ARGYLE served the City of Penticton as Deputy Mayor and as
a member of the School Board. He was a man of great intellect
and uncompromising standards and is sadly missed by all who knew
him. During his final illness he was greatly helped by his long
time friend, David Hembling, who shared his love of science.
The family appreciates his compassionate support, and the kind
care extended by the staff of the palliative unit of Vancouver
General Hospital. Private arrangements entrusted to Kearney Funeral
