It is with great sadness that the family of Larry
LOOPSTRA announce
his passing on June 22, 2007 in Hamilton, Ontario after a brief
illness. Larry will be greatly missed by his wife Pamela (nee
ROSS,) his four children, Alyssa
ALKEMA

Emily
(Nick,)
Jonathan (Amanda), and Benjamin, his brothers, Chuck (Claudia),
Allard (Margaret) and Bert (Willy), his mother-in-law, Betty
ROSS, his sister-in-law, Susan
KILNER, his brother-in-law, Robert

(Jill,) his nephews and nieces and numerous other relatives,
Friends, colleagues, and patients too many to mention. Larry
was born in The Netherlands in 1941 and grew up in Groningen
and The Hague until immigrating to Canada with his parents, the
late Rev. Willem and Ekelina
LOOPSTRA in 1951. He obtained his
elementary and high school education in Hamilton, Ontario and
attended the University of Western Ontario in London between
1960 and 1966 with a degree in medicine. Larry interned at St.
Bonifice in Winnipeg, Manitoba and thereafter served 3 years
as a medical doctor with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Germany
pursuing his passion for medicine, travel, and skiing. On his
return to Canada, he completed his residency in Obstetrics and
Gynaecology and established his practice in Hamilton. Larry was
an accomplished surgeon, obstetrician and respected clinical
professor with the Hamilton Health Sciences Centre at McMaster
University, delivering thousands of newborns during his career,
as well as performing as a skilled surgeon. He pursued his career
with dedication, professionalism and caring, while at the same
time maintaining a balanced life style through family, church
and his new found love for golf. His loving, caring and selfless
nature shone through all his relationships (Galatians 5: 22-23).
Larry was an avid sailor who loved his boat Sonic Boom, winning
many Lake Ontario races. He last sailed his boat with his family
on June 10, 2007. Many thanks to Leslie

the Ancaster Canadian Reformed Church, 575 Shaver Road, Ancaster,
Ontario on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 commencing at 11 a.m. Private

"Mac" Peacefully at the John M. Parrott Centre, Napanee, Ontario
on Saturday December 15, 2007 in his 88th year. Dearly loved
husband of Evelyn; father of, Anne (Michael), and Iain (Cindy)
and the late Neil (1958-1989). Grandfather of Alex, Angus, Cameron,
Ella, Holly, and Ruairidh. Mac was born in Malaysia in 1920.
They moved back to his parents' native Scotland at age 10. His
first University degree was in English Literature, an interest
which never died. The war interrupted his studies as he spent
the next few years in the navy in the South Pacific. Medical
School was in Glasgow and soon after he met Evelyn. They emigrated
to the small town of Larder Lake in Northern Ontario and later
moved to Napanee. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in
medicine. Mac helped introduce his family to their love of the
outdoors, travel, literature and music. The family will receive
Friends at the Wannamaker-Tierney Funeral Home, 123 Dundas St.
W, Napanee (613-354-3341) on Tuesday December 18 from 2: 00-4:00 p.m.
and 7: 00-9:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at Grace United Church,
Napanee on Wednesday, December 19 at 11: 00 a.m. Reception to
follow. Interment Bethany Cemetery. Mac's family would like to

Leonard
We are deeply saddened to announce that on Wednesday December 19th
Leonard passed away peacefully with his family and Friends in
attendance. He will be greatly missed by his wife Sandra, his
five children; Damian and wife Teri, Ryan, Amy, Matthew and Cameron,
his brother Charlie and wife Susan and his many Friends and business
associates. Leonard will be fondly remembered as a person who
lived his life to the fullest. He was a committed family man,
an avid sportsman and a well respected partner with the Toronto
law firm McLean and Kerr. Memorial donations may by made to the
Canadian Cancer Society. A public celebration of Leonard's life
will be planned in the new year.
