WAREHAM,
Jessie (née
BORDEN)
Died peacefully at her home near Priceville, Ontario, surrounded
by her family on Monday, July 2, 2007 after a courageous and
graceful struggle with cancer, which defeated her body but never
her spirit or sense of humour. Born in Toronto on October 12,
1936, Jessie is survived by loving husband and best friend, Tom
WAREHAM, daughters Mardi and Jacquie, son Michael and wife
April,
and son Joe and wife Alison. Sadly missed by grandchildren Amber,
Courtney, Rebecca, Callum and Maggie. Dear daughter of Millie

Jessie graduated from the University of Western Ontario
in London as a journalism major and was a lifelong member of
Gamma Phi Beta sorority. A resident of Cambridge (Galt) for many
years, she was editor of the Lifestyle section of the Cambridge
Reporter daily newspaper and was a driving force in the creation
of the Cambridge Volunteer Bureau. She was also president of
the Cambridge Chapter of the University Women's Club. A lifelong
interest in dolls and handicrafts led her to start a home business,
Rainbows Fabrics. She and Tom enjoyed traveling all over Ontario
to craft shows and gave much joy to their customers and fellow
vendors. Jessie also loved to cook for Friends and family, and
her annual gifts of Christmas cookies were coveted by all who
were lucky enough to receive them. She touched many lives with
her kind words and generosity, and even in her final days continued
to give all she could to her family. We will miss her. The family
would like to thank the oncology unit nurses staff at Owen Sound

during this time. A private service for immediate family will

of life for extended family and Friends will be held in Cambridge

GOETZ,
Peter
Henry (1917-2007)
Beloved dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, passed away on Tuesday,
August 28, 2007 just shy of his 90th birthday. He was born on
September 8, 1917, in Slavgorod, Russia, where he was raised
on a collective farm by his parents, Henry and Justina. He immigrated
to Canada in 1929 along with his parents and his brother Henry.
His baby brother Siegfried was born during the ocean voyage to
Quebec City. The family then settled in the Kitchener-Waterloo
area. Peter attended Kitchener Collegiate Institute where he
met his future wife, Helena
WARKENTIN. In his thirties, Peter
pursued an accounting career with B.F. Goodrich. He was, however,
an avid sportsman, becoming recognized as a 'scratch' golfer
at the Westmount Golf and Country Club. His passion for the arts
eventually eclipsed his interest in sports. By attending Saturday
morning classes at Waterloo College, now Wilfred Laurier University
and joining the Kitchener-Waterloo Society of Artists in 1946,
Peter developed his artistic skills. He also added a daughter
Jean Margot to the family in 1946 and a son, Peter Andrew in
1949. Peter was elected to the Canadian Society of Painters in
Watercolour in 1960 and the Ontario Society of Artists in 1963.
Exhibitions include the National Gallery, Ottawa; the Rotunda
Gallery, London, England; La Scala Gallery, Florence, Italy
the Galleria International, New York City and the Art Gallery
of Ontario. During his seventy plus years as a respected Kitchener-Waterloo
Artist he received numerous rewards and accolades and was a respected
member of the community. His work is in the collection of Her
Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the City of Waterloo, the Kitchener-Waterloo
Art Gallery, the London Regional Art Gallery, the National Club
in Toronto, the Universities of Guelph, Waterloo and Wilfred
Laurier and many, many private homes. Peter was predeceased by
his parents, his brother Henry and his wife Helena. He is survived
by his daughter Jean (David)
HOOVER, his son Peter (Louella)
GOETZ and his brother Siegfried (Corinne)
GOETZ. He will be greatly
missed by his long time friend and companion Dora Melville

Jock, our beloved patriarch, died peacefully at home on November 28,

Sarah (David

John
(Gillian
BISHOP,) Michael, Julia,
Sean, Claire, Will, Emma and Hayden; step grandchildren Justin
and Andrea; and his sister Judith
LYWOOD of Bath, United Kingdom.
Jock was born in the Golders Green area of London on November 18,
1921. He graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in
Civil Engineering during World War 2, and immediately joined
the Royal Air Force. In between flying Wellingtons, he was smitten
with Barbara 'Bill'
WHATLEY and married her on October 12, 1946.
Jock and Bill set out to start a new life in Canada in 1948.
He worked as an engineer with Alcan in Kingston and Montreal,
and then moved to Stelco in Hamilton, where he worked in Sales
Engineering until his retirement. Jock and Bill enjoyed retirement
years both in Ontario and then in Victoria, British Columbia
until her death in 1997. Jock then started a new chapter in his
life, turning his energies to community service. He arranged
for thousands of used tennis balls to be shipped to poor children
abroad. While dealing with loss of eyesight, he became an innovator,
champion and spokesperson for people with low vision. He lived
life fully to the end, with the help of his dear friend Barbara
Riggs and his family. We will all miss his zest for life, sense
of adventure and endless curiosity. The times spent at the cottage
on Lake of Bays, at the house on Sanibel Island and more recently
at the cottage on Salt Spring Island will stand out in memory,
as will images of Jock the master sailor and woodworker. In lieu
