Passed away after a courageous battle with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's
Diseases on Friday, November 16, 2007. Beloved husband of Margaret
father to Matthew (and Susan) and Peter (and Katherine); Pops
to Michael and Andrew; Grandpa to Alex, Michael and Eric; brother
to Doctor Ernst
WALTER (and family) and predeceased brother Arthur
(and family). John graduated from McGill's Macdonald College
with a degree in Food Engineering. John met Margaret in Truro,
Nova Scotia. They were married on a lovely spring day in the
Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. Shortly after their marriage
they were transferred to Vancouver, British Columbia. John and
Margaret planned to stay only a short time; however, they found
they could not afford to relocate back to Nova Scotia. They eventually
fell in love with the mountains and the ocean and made West Vancouver
their beloved home ever since that long train journey across
the country many years ago. They returned to Nova Scotia many
times. John was extremely proud of his family as they were of
him. J.L. will be greatly missed, but long remembered and loved
by his family and Friends. As anyone remembering John will recall,
if you ever needed an opinion, J.L. was always willing to provide
you with one! John was a well known and respected executive in
Canada's food industry, having worked with many of the leading
national and international companies, such as: Canada Dry, Nabob
Foods, Nalley's and Lifestream. John was also an experienced
and avid skier. His six-season ski show on the Canadian Broadcasting
Corporation in the 60's/70's called Ski View introduced many
to the new and emerging ski areas in the Pacific Northwest. John
served as a Director on the Vancouver/Garibaldi Olympic Committee
in Canada's bid to host the 1976 Winter Olympic Games. The Walter
family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the wonderful care provided
to John from the staff of Inglewood and Lynn Valley care centres,
and a special thanks to Doctor L. Janz for his support over the
years. At the request of John, a private, family service will
be held. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Parkinson's

would be greatly appreciated. Those wishing to provide condolences

Footprints
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along
the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his
life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the
sand; one belonged to him, and the other the Lord. When the last
scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints
in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his
life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that
it happened at the very lowest and saddest times is his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.
Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk
with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you the most you would leave
me. The Lord replied, My precious, precious child, I love you
and I would never leave you. During those times of trial and
suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was that
I carried you.
