It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of James Louis (Lou) ALLARD on May 22nd, 2007 at the age of 62. Adoring and loving husband for over 36 years of Mary ALLARD (McLEOD.) Proud and devoted father to Margaret and husband Chris JOHNSON, Marc and wife Mary Beth WHITE/WHYTE, and son Michael. Loving grampa to Mackenzie and Madelyn JOHNSON. Beloved▼ son of the late James and Catherine ALLARD of North Bay. He is survived by sisters Victorine DOUCETTE (Henry) of North Bay and Catherine ROBB (Brad) of Etobicoke, and their families. "Uncle Lou" will be missed dearly by Mary's twin sister Martha, her husband David HEATH, their children and by her brother Rev. D.J. McLEOD.
Lou loved spending time with his family and Friends at the summer cottage he and Mary built. His other passion in life was teaching and his dedication and commitment to education will not be forgotten. He made the most of his retirement, traveling with his wife and Friends, working on his gardens, developing his golf and curling games, and taking long walks with his beloved dogs. Lou's competitive fire was most evident during nightly cribbage games at the cottage. Quiet yet confident, Lou will be forever remembered for his patience, spirit and kindness. We will miss his guidance, sense of humour, and loving nature.
Visitation will take place on June 7th at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Collingwood between 6 and 9 p.m. Funeral service will be June 8th at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Collingwood at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Collingwood Collegiate Institute to establish an award in Lou's memory or the Collingwood Humane Society. Of Tobermory passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2007 in his 79th year. Cherished father of Delbert (Joann) RANEY of Owen Sound, Marlene (John) GERVASI of Owen Sound, Wayne (Jill) RANEY of Tobermory and Marsha ROBBINS of Stokes Bay. He will be sadly missed by 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and was a special friend and companion of Eleanor MONK of Owen Sound. Rusty was predeceased by his wife Edith, his parents, brother Bill, sister Shirley and son-in-law Joe ROBBINS. Rusty was a long standing member of Masonic Cedar Lodge #396 and the Ramoca Shrine Club. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 4, 2007 from 2: 00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9: 00 p.m. at the Tobermory United Church. Passed away September 3, 2007 at Toronto East General Hospital after a brief battle with cancer in his 79th year. Loving father to Moira and Martin, loyal friend and confidante to countless neighbours and parishioners. Also survived by his loving sister Kathleen ROBBINS and her children Marion and Patrick back home in England, and predeceased by his brother Dennis. Steadfastly abiding by the highest moral standards, Tony was a Chartered Accountant as well as an enthusiastic rugby player, theologian and raconteur. He loved to share his great enjoyment of food and song with Friends and even strangers. A funeral mass will be held at 10: 00 a.m. on Friday, September 7th at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church, 50 Hoskin Avenue in Toronto where he was a popular fixture for the better part of thirty years. NIHON, Robert Alexis
It is with infinite sadness that we announce that Robert Alexis NIHON, son of the late Alexis NIHON and Alice NIHON (née ROBERT,) passed away suddenly on the morning of August 10. 2007, at the age of 57. He is survived by members of his immediate family, his wife Carolyn, and his two sons, Robert II and Gregory, and his step-daughter Montanna CHESTER, his brother Alexis II (Cornelia,) his sister Claudette and many nieces and nephews. He will also be sorely missed by his countless Friends all over the world. Bob NIHON - as his Friends knew him - was often described as larger than life, and his kind and generous spirit will remain with us. Mr. NIHON engaged in diverse business initiatives as a merchant banker and entrepreneur. His successful stewardship of the real estate company named for his father, the late Alexis NIHON, has been well documented. His other successful ventures in all corners of the globe ranged from financial services to mining to real estate to technology. Notably, Mr. NIHON had recently assembled for his Family Office (Nihon Global Partners) an advisory Leadership Council comprised of many former world leaders and senior business leaders. Mr. NIHON was the Honorary Consul for Canada to The Bahamas from 1997 to 2006. He was also a member of the New York Stock Exchange in the 1980's. In 2002, Mr. NIHON was awarded Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee Medal for his significant contribution to Canada abroad. Mr. NIHON was a philanthropist and as such very proud to support a vast array of charities in the Bahamas, Canada and abroad, especially those supportive of children and youth initiatives. Among others, he had been serving since 1987 as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Governor General's Youth Awards program for the Bahamas and as a Director of the Canadian Lyford Cay Foundation. Mr. NIHON was a tremendous athlete, with a great love of tennis and golf and, in earlier days, of broomball, racquetball, and squash. He was also a diver, a fisherman, and a yachtsman, and he was most in his element captaining Friends and family on the waters near his home in Nassau, Bahamas. He was also very proud to have wrestled in the 1968 Summer Olympic Games in Mexico City, and in the 1970 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, Scotland. Mr. NIHON was a loving and loyal father, husband and friend and this is how he will be celebrated, admired and remembered by all those who knew and loved him. The family will receive condolences at the J.J. Passed away peacefully on November 22nd shortly after his 69th birthday, after valiantly battling illness for over two decades. Beloved husband to Ruth ROBERT (MORAN) for close to 45 years. Loving father to Joseph (Linda SIU,) Mark (Jim JOHNSON) and Doug, and proud grandfather to J.R. and Tori ROBERT. Will be greatly missed by sisters Irene SMEATON, Martha HARDY and Michelle ROBERT as well as brothers Paul ROBERT (Sally) and D'Arcy ROBERT in addition to many nieces, nephews and cousins and his Aunt Irene HATCH (Auntie Smart.) Predeceased by his parents Paul and Aileen ROBERT, Ruth's parents Bob and Lorna MORAN and brothers-in-law Hagood HARDY and Gordon SMEATON. Joe was a larger than life character who will not be forgotten by all those that knew him and loved him. Joe spent his career as a stock broker and in his spare time was an avid and accomplished golfer being a life long member of Rosedale Golf Club. Aside from his love of playing the game, he distinguished himself as a member of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Golf Association and the Board of Governors of the Royal Canadian Golf Association where he participated as a Rules Official for the Canadian Open for over 25 years ultimately taking on the role of the head of the Rules Committee for the Royal Canadian Golf Association. Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Sunnybrook Hospital for their care and compassion over these past two months and to his doctor, Noah FORMAN, who has taken such wonderful care of Joe over the past 20 years. After a lengthy illness, passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 10th, 2007 in his 94th year at York Central Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Predeceased by his loving wife Marion Isabella MATHESON and his three brothers Kenneth, Russ, and Harold. Dear uncle of Peter and Gillian RICHARDSON, Penny GHARTEY, Pat HARLEY, Jim and Luba RICHARDSON, Robin and Karen RICHARDSON, Janet and Earl JONES, Judy and Rudy MEIER, Pat and David DAVIES, Michael and Sandra RICHARDSON, David and Pamela RICHARDSON, Donald and Glynda MATHESON, Rae GOURLAY, Anne and Ken ROBERTS, Ken and Debra MATHESON and Hugh and Judi MATHESON. Will also be sadly missed by his many great nieces and nephews. Norman graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Commerce and Finance in 1935. During World War 2, he served as artillery lieutenant in the 14th Field Regiment, which was instrumental in the freedom of Holland. He became President of Cheeseborough Ponds, and, subsequently President of C.C.T.F.A. After his retirement in 1983, he volunteered for a number of years as Treasurer of Hospital Special Needs. Norman led a very active life. He loved to travel, was a patron of the arts, was a sports enthusiast and had an interest in wildlife, particularly birds and racoons, whom he fed for 44 years in his backyard on Revcoe Drive. He will be dearly missed, and forever remembered. At Norman's request, there will be no service. Born 17th of April, 1937, died unexpectedly on the 27th of September, 2007. Youngest son of William Richard and Myrtle SIMMONS of Redruth, Cornwall, United Kingdom he was predeceased by his eldest sibling Raymond SIMMONS. An intensely private man, he was a life-long reader, scholar, cinephile and student of geneology, who worked as a biometrician for the Ministry of Agriculture in Northern Ireland from 1970 to 1974, and from 1974 onwards with the Pacific Forestry Research Centre in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Wartime conditions and his National Service with the Royal Air Force as a radio fitter in West Germany, formed habits of a lifetime. He has three sons, Martin, Brian and Collan (Anisa MNUYSIWALLA) SIMMONS and one grand_son, Navan James MNUYSIWALLA. He is survived by his sister Marlene ROBERTS, sister-in-law Florrie SIMMONS and their families in Cornwall, and ex-wife Anne SIMMONS. Durham Police are investigating a fight at an Oshawa townhouse complex that left one man dead. Police arrived at the complex early yesterday morning after callers reported a fight in progress. Randy Mackenzie ROBERTS, 23, of Oshawa was taken to hospital but later died. Police have arrested one man, but no charges had been laid yesterday.

The family will receive Friends at the Hulse and English Funeral Home and Chapel, 75 Church Street, (905) 684-6346 on Monday, December 17th, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, December 18th, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service to celebrate Babs life will be held at St. George's Anglican Church, 83 Church St, on Wednesday December 19th, 2007 at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow. Peacefully at Christie Gardens on December 23rd, 2007, in her 97th year. Marion, dearly beloved wife of the late Frank ROBERTS, predeceased in 2001. Dear step-mother of Peter ROBERTS (Joan) and Michael ROBERTS (Brenda.) Loving grandmother to Steven, Troy, and Adam.
Marion graduated with a B.A. from McMaster University in Hamilton and an M.A. from Brown University in Rhode Island. She was former head librarian of Thomas Fisher rare book library at the University of Toronto.
Resting at the Newediuk Funeral Home, A. Roy Miller Chapel, 1695 St. Clair Avenue West (between Keele and Lansdowne). The family will receive their Friends Wednesday, December 26 from 9: 30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Funeral service to be held at Funeral Home Chapel at 10: 30 a.m. Cremation to follow.
