plenty of time for her real passion which was her children. She
also found time to tend to her gardens, work on her scrapbooks,
and play the occasional round of golf.

of the C.W.L. and a wonderful mother who made innumerable trips
to swimming, dancing and music lessons, soccer, hockey and schools,
all of which produced terrific memories, great Friends, and a

and cousins. Her special gift for Friendship leaves many with
warm and fond memories. Born in Stratford, Ontario, Betty grew
up in Waterdown and Burlington. She taught elementary school
in Kingsbridge, North Bay, Terrace Bay and Thunder Bay where
she also worked as a Christian Living Consultant with the Catholic
School Board and provided leadership in the revision of Catholic
curriculum for primary grades in the 1980s. Following her retirement
in 1987, Betty and Bill made their home in Burlington where they
enjoyed family get-togethers, celebrations and many cultural
and sporting events. A lifelong reader, Betty especially appreciated
her book club. She taught and regularly attended aquafit classes
at the Y. She looked forward to bridge games, fun luncheons and
walks in Spencer Smith Park. She was an active member of the
Newcomers Club. During these years she grew in her faith and
belief in God who granted her many blessings, including a peaceful
death, gently and lovingly cared for by her family and the staff
and volunteers at Carpenter Hospice. We are deeply grateful for
their support and compassion. We also thank Doctor Ernest
HAJCSAR
for his concerned and timely care. A memorial mass will be celebrated
at St. Raphael's Roman Catholic Church, 4072 New Street (at Longmoor,
east of Walker's Line), on Friday, September 28, 2007 at 11: 00 a.m.

Bessie was a graduate of Queens University (1937) and the Ontario
College of Education. She taught in Cardinal and Thunder Bay.
After living in Toronto for 25 years Bess and Ross moved to Ottawa
where Bess was an editor with the Canadian Forestry Service and
Parks Canada. Bessie was predeceased by her sister Ruby, her
son Brian and her husband of more than 50 years Ross. She is
survived by her brother Howard of Brockville, her daughter Judith
(Charles) VAN

many Friends will miss her sparkling wit and her sense of style.
Her curiosity and love of travel took her all over the world,
from photographic safaris in East and South Africa to the Yangtze
River Valley in China. She was an avid card player and reader
of Canadian literature. Donations in memory of M.J. may be made

as a young man and served 35 years with the Stratford P.U.C.
Ken and Joan retired to Durham, “God's Country”, in 1992 so he
could build their dream home, Leatherwood Ranch, and do all the
things he loved. His love of the outdoors and wildlife was reflected
in all his wood carvings, leatherwork and the numerous things
he created. He was an active member of the Ontario Federation
of Anglers and Hunters, South Grey Hunters Association, Ducks
Unlimited and the Royal Canadian Legion in Durham. He was so
proud of recently shooting his 1st wild turkey! A Celebration
of Ken's life will be held at his home, Leatherwood Ranch (R.R.#4
Durham, 303400 Southline), on Sunday, July 22nd at 2 p.m. As

Most of all she was passionate, loving and caring about her family.
Maude sacrificed to give her children the very best she could
