Born▲ January▲ 20, 1913 to Eunice Olivetta MUNRO and Charles Ernest HARDY, Margaret▲ died peacefully on April 20, 2007 at the Village of Tansley Woods, Burlington, with her family close by. Affectionately known as "Dee", she is survived by her daughters-in-law Cathy PLEWES of Oakville, Ontario, and Donna PLEWES of Edmond, Oklahoma step-daughters Marilyn HOLMSTROM, Nancy▲ WARD, and Joanne MYERS grandchildren John, Kimberley, Amanda and Derek; nephews John PLEWES of Naples, Florida, and Don PLEWES of Toronto, Ontario niece Pam SCHMIDT of Napanee, Ontario. She was predeceased by her husbands Doctor Campbell PLEWES and Doctor James EVERSOLE; her sons James PLEWES and Doctor John PLEWES, and her daughter Mary PLEWES; her sister Doris HARDY and her brother James HAWKINS. Her courage in the face of so many losses and declining health, her sense of humour and love for her family will be treasured by all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, 89 Dunn Street, Oakville. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

At the Montreal General Hospital on Sunday, December 9, 2007, after a mercifully brief illness 10 days before her 94th birthday. She was the beloved wife and best friend of the late Victor HAMILTON loving daughter of the late Georges HARDY and the late Hannah (WILLIAMS) HARDY. Much loved sister of the late Dorothy ASHWORTH (Bill) and the late Helen PERRY (Don.) Predeceased by nephew Wayne PERRY and sadly missed by dear niece Judith HOLST of Norway and her children; as well as caring nephews David, Tony, Peter ASHWORTH; their spouses and children. Rita took great pride in being the great-great-great-aunt of 11. On Tuesday, July 31st, 2007 Dit as he was affectionately known, passed away peacefully in Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Marilyn, predeceased by his first wife Jackie, loving father to Kim (Bob), Steph (Bruce), Sara (Doug), Pat (Joanne) and David (Josie). Fondly remembered by grandchildren Britt, Kim, Shae, Samantha, Kerrie, Adam, Jessica, Everett, Brendan, Joshua and Jessica along with two great-grandchildren Ali and Hannah. He will be sadly missed by his loving sisters Sherry, Sheelah and their families. Born on October 7, 1929 in Kingston, Ontario, Dit enjoyed a rich and successful career in the mining industry including past Presidency of the Prospectors and Developers Association, working with his mentor Frank Joubin, attending the opening of the Holt-McDermott Mine and joining American Barrick in the early years. He also was instrumental in establishing the Mining Hall of Fame in Elliot Lake. Dit will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who loved the game of golf, the town of Kirkland Lake, riding his golf cart with his grandchildren, playing his banjo and sharing his wonderful mining experiences. In her 89th year, peacefully passed on with support of family at her side on Sunday, November 18, 2007. Loving wife of the late Harry BLEASDELL (1996) and beloved Mother of Joanne BLEASDELL, Donna MALLETT (Mike) and Carolyn HOLT (John) who will always cherish and remember her devotion to family and Friends, always caring and helping others first in spite of her battle with polio since the age of 29. Also survived by her 8 grandchildren Michelle, Teresa (Glen), Richard (Kerry), Steven, Brian (Leeanne), Derek (Lisa), Tammy (Don), and Colleen (Andrew). Loving her smile and warmth forever are her 13 great-grandchildren, Austin, Sam, Megan, Liam, Brett, Zachery, Alycia, Mackenzie, Aidan, Ella, Nathan, Julia and Jessica. Special thanks to Maureen for her loving help for over 20 years to Mom and Dad. DE CANDOLE, Nancy (née LUCE)
Nancy DE CANDOLE passed away peacefully in Qualicum Beach, British Columbia on December 3, 2007. She was 96. She was the last member of her generation and was predeceased by her husband Corry, brothers Charles and Arthur and sisters Rachel NASH and Kathleen LUCE. She is survived by her four children: daughters Janet HOLT and Clare BENNETT (Keith) and sons James and Richard (Wendy,) Luce and de Candole nephews and nieces in the U.S., England, New Zealand, Kenya and Zimbabwe, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. Nancy was born to Richard and Mary LUCE on April 25, 1911 in Derby, England. Her father was a medical doctor who during World War I served as the Director of Medical Services of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force and later became a Member of the British Parliament. As a teenager Nancy attended Sandecotes School for Girls where she excelled in music. In 1931 she attended the Royal College of Music in London obtaining an A.R.M.C. in piano. While in London she met her husband Corry and they were married on January 30, 1933 in Bombay where Corry received his first posting as a medical doctor with Royal Army Medical Corp. They returned to England in the late 1930s and immigrated to Canada in 1951 where Corry took positions as a physiologist with the Department of National Defence first at a research lab outside Medicine Hat, Alberta then in Toronto. In 1965 they retired to acreage outside Qualicum Beach where Nancy lived for over 40 years. Nancy taught piano for nearly 70 years and was an inspiration to many students. Many people were also touched by her Christian faith and generous heart. In the 1950s she became an Associate with the Sisters of Saint_John the Divine based in Toronto. In Qualicum Beach she was a long-time member of Saint Mark's Church, founded an inter-denominational meditation group and was active in local peace and environment initiatives. She also served as pianist for the Parksville Community Choir. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice. A memorial service will take place on December 8 at Saint Mark's Anglican Church, Qualicum Beach.
