Cherished mother of Elaine (Ivan) WHITE/WHYTE of Lions Head, Marian (Al) PROCTOR of Ajax, Lenn (Gloria) BOWDEN of Strathroy, Murray BOWDEN of Sarnia, Dianne (John) INNES of Brantford and Sharon (Peter) FRANCIS of St. Albert, Alberta. She will be sadly missed by 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Edna was predeceased by her husband Bill, parents Myrtle (PARSONS) and Charles SHAW, brother Norman SHAW and grand_son Robbie BOWDEN. The funeral service to celebrate Edna's life was held on Sunday, December 31, 2006 at the Bethel Missionary Church, 18 Ferndale Road, Lions head at 3: 00 p.m. with Pastor Billy STRACHAN officiating. Interment Eastnor Cemetery. The pallbearers were David PROCTOR, Sean FITZPATRICK, Sandy INNES, John HUEHN, Shantie SIVARAJAH and Murray MIELHAUSEN. Cherished grandfather of Holly-Ann and Joseph James GOODERHAM- SAMAKESE, Christopher and Mark GOODERHAM, Stuart Gooderham SMITH (Alexandra), Jennifer Smith SILLS (Chad SILLS) and great-grandfather of Ethan SMITH and Morgan, Braiden, Victoria, Brooklyn and Owen SILLS. son of the late John Leys GOODERHAM and Beryl Olive BUCHANAN, Jim is also predeceased by his brother Peter Buchanan GOODERHAM and his wife Mary, all of Toronto. FITZPATRICK, Joan Elizabeth (née COWIE)
Born in 1920, died peacefully on December 12th, 2007 at Mount Sinai Hospital of pulmonary fibrosis. She was the beloved wife of the late Honourable John James FITZPATRICK, Q.C. and will be greatly missed by her family and Friends.
Joan graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1939 at age nineteen, was an officer in Navy Intelligence in the Second World War, then married and moved to Toronto where she raised her family of eight children. Joan was an avid student throughout her life, especially interested in Chinese history and culture. She lead a group from the Royal Ontario Museum to China in 1975, joined the Board of the Royal Ontario Museum in 1995, and was honored as one of the 'Three Joans,' for her dedicated service to the Museum in 2005. Joan was curious, resourceful and undertook her projects with indomitable energy and determination. Later in her life, she became a volunteer and supporter of the Friends of Schizophrenia. She had a wonderful ability to look beyond her own problems and engage with Friends, ideas and the larger community.
She will be mourned and missed by her children, Kathleen (David SECCOMBE), John FITZPATRICK, Margaret Ann (Charles HANLY), Moira (Bob MacDONALD), Janet (Paul MORRISON), Sheila (Ed STEVENS), Jim (Suzanne Brown FITZPATRICK), Joan (Pim ROMCOLTHOFF), and by her twelve grandchildren, Will, Roger, Jenny, Kaeli, Michael, Drew, Brendan, Elizabeth, Katie, Patrick, Carl and Teija, to whom she was a loving and attentive grandmother
The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, December 15th. Funeral Mass will be held in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 78 Clifton Road at 10: 00 a.m. on Monday, December 17th. Loving mother of Sharon (Robert) RALPH, Patricia (Shane) MUENCH and Rick EYBEL. Cherished nana to Corry (Cassie), Courtney (Greg), Robyn, Alysia, Victoria and beloved great-grandmother to Gemini, Alexis, Carter, Hayden and Ethan. She will be sadly missed by her brother Donald FITZSIMMONS and her sisters-in-law Shirley MCINNES/MCINNIS and Ruth EYBEL and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her brother Roy FITZSIMMONS and parents Tom and Annie FITZSIMMONS and brother-in-law Glen EYBEL. Our Mom lived most of her life in St. Catharines and moved to Sauble Beach in 1985 after our Dad retired from General Motors. She had many family and Friends in this area.
