Born July 18, 1930, departed peacefully at age 77, on October 17, 2007 to his heavenly home, the Father's house, to be with Christ which is far better. Edmund leaves behind his wife he loved so dearly, Ruth (HUGHES,) his two children who he adored, daughter Barbara (David HUNTER,) son Bruce (Pamela CARR) and the six grandchildren, Carl, Glen and Heather HUNTER, Julia, Benjamin and Caroline BEACHAM who brought him great joy. Predeceased by his sister Joyce BURAKOFF and parents Roland and Evelyn BEACHAM. He will always be remembered as a gracious and caring husband, a kind and giving father and a fun loving grandpa who lived everyday for Jesus his Saviour. Walter passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, June 22, 2007 at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Helen. Much loved and devoted father of Patricia (Greg) GILLIS, Paul, Joanne, Sandra (George) POSTALIAN, Marilyn (Dave) IPPOLITO, Michael and William (Sue). Proud grandfather of Matthew, Michael, Catherine, Adam, Brian, Tyler, Sean, Greg, Leah, Jack and Julia. He will be fondly remembered by his sisters Mary WATSON and Betty MARSHALL and his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Josephine BURBIDGE. Walter served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War 2. He practiced dentistry in Hamilton for 37 years and was a past president of the Hamilton Academy of Dentistry. Following a debilitating stroke in 1989 Walter returned with courage and determination to lead a full life and enjoy his passions - golf, gardening and bridge and poker games with his Friends. A quiet hero has gone to heaven. Family will receive Friends for visitation at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers at 8: 30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church (50 Brucedale Ave East, Hamilton) on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Rene was active all her life with dancing, golfing, theatre, bridge and walking. She was proud of her independent living in her residence up to her sudden illness. Passed away unexpectedly, on the 26th of June 2007, while vacationing in St. Petersburg, Russia at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife Lotti of 45 years, daughter Oona and sons Brian and Patrick. Fondly remembered by Gerard, Ronda and Lisa and greatly missed by his 6 loving grandchildren: Cullen, Nina, Ella, Mia, Cameron and Sophie. Born in Haarlem, The Netherlands on May 5th 1933, Harry was a Merchant Marine for 10 years before coming to Canada and making Ontario his home. He attained his degree in Civil Engineering and worked for Ontario Hydro for 30 years. His great joys included his children, grandchildren and studying the history and events of World War 2. Born February 12, 1947, died peacefully at the Hill House Hospice, Richmond Hill, Ontario on Fri. September 7th, after a long illness. Charlotte was the very much loved wife of Gordon Cornelius, sister and sister-in-law of Audrey SUTTON and Douglas FAIRWEATHER of Vernon, British Columbia, Lorraine SUTTON and Robert BURCHER of Clarksburg, Ontario, Denis and Gwen SUTTON, nephews Shane and Wade MILLER of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Charlotte was active in the United Church as a "young leader" in both Explorers and Canadian Girls In Training and then became a vibrant member of Bethel #5 in the International Order of Saint_Job's Daughters and the honored Queen. Charlotte graduated as a pediatric nurse at Children's Hospital, Winnipeg, completed graduate studies in Operating Room nursing at Montreal General and was appointed Operating Room supervisor at Kelowna General. Leaving nursing Charlotte worked in medical sales until she joined Gordon in retirement. Charlotte married Gordon in 1991 and to join him in his passion for golf she joined Toronto Ladies, Ladies became an important part of her life making a whole new set of Friends. In 1997 they established a winter retirement home in Florida, at University Park Country Club, Florida where her passion for the game really matured and again making many new golfing and lifelong Friends. Charlotte's intoxicating smile and zest for life will be deeply missed by her loving family and multitude of Friends everywhere. Gordon and families would like to sincerely thank the many caregivers who helped her maintain some reasonable quality of life during 2+ years of treatments. A Memorial Service and Celebration of her life will be held at Thornhill Golf and Country Club, 7994 Yonge St. on Sat. September 22nd at 1 p.m.

He was born July 6, 1932 in Hove, Sussex to the late Edwin and Doris (AYLING) BURFOOT. Michael▼ practiced anaesthesia 48 years in the United Kingdom, Montreal, Saudi Arabia, Toronto and Vermont. He was Chief of Anaesthesia at the Lakeshore General (Montreal) and the Fanny Allen (Burlington) hospitals. Lately, his most rewarding professional experience was with the sight-saving medical charity, Orbis in Libya and Uganda. At home, he had a passion for building and landscaping; completing three homes in Vermont with gardens and ponds. He is also cherished by his wife, Susan BURGESS and many dear Friends. Norman graduated from the University of Toronto, in 1960 on scholarship and qualified as an Actuary in Toronto in 1970. A third generation Toronto Kiwanian active member and a President during the 85th Anniversary year. A windsurfing enthusiast, a solid Bridge player, and golfer, he will be missed here and take his place in celebration with God. Gerald LE DAIN was born in Montreal in 1924, son of Eric LE DAIN and Antoinette WHITHARD. He attended McGill University briefly prior to volunteering, at the age of 18, to serve with the Canadian Army in World War 2 from 1943 to 1946, as a Gunner with the 7th Medium Regt., R.C.A., seeing action in Holland and Germany in 1945. In 1946, he attended Khaki University in England where in a fateful debate he met his wife of 48 years, Cynthia Emily Roy.
After returning to Canada in 1946, he obtained a B.C.L. degree from McGill University, winning the Gold Medal. He pursued his studies in France, obtaining a Docteur de l'Université from the Université de Lyon. He was called to the Bar of Quebec in 1949 becoming a Q.C. in 1961. During the 1950's and 1960's, Gerald practised law in Montreal, with Walker Martineau, and as a partner in the firm of Riel, Le Dain, Bissonnette, Vermette and Ryan where he was counsel to the Attorney General of Quebec in constitutional cases, and in the legal department of the Canadian International Paper Co. For eight years during this period he was a professor of law at McGill University.
In 1967, he became dean of Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. From 1969 to 1973, he chaired the Commission of Inquiry into the Non-Medical Use of Drugs. Two years later, he was appointed to the Federal Court of Appeal. He was elevated to the Supreme Court of Canada in 1984. He served on the Supreme Court for four years and retired in 1988. He was made a Companion of the Order of Canada in 1989.
Gerald LE DAIN lived life with exuberance and passion, with integrity and a strong sense of responsibility, and with a profound commitment to Canada. The warmth of his personality, the power of his intellect, and his ability to bring clarity to complex issues enriched us all.

Born 16 May 1932 in Glasgow, Scotland. Died 16 September 2007 in Toronto. Graduated in Medicine from Glasgow University. Served in Royal Air Force as a Medical Officer in Rheindahlen, West Germany. Immigrated to Canada in 1968 and worked in family medicine in Toronto. Also served as Medical Officer of Health with The Toronto Scottish Regiment and as Commanding Officer of 25 Medical (Toronto) Company. a volunteer with several charities, especially Out of the Cold and Raise the Roof. A man of wisdom with many talents and a zeal for life, he played many different roles: poet, singer, actor, soldier, physician and gardener but above all a husband, father and grandfather. He was loved by all those who had the good fortune to know him. Darling husband of Rita McKENZIE (née BURGOYNE,) beloved father and father-in-law of Donald, Janice, Diane, Sandy an Deborah, and proud-grandfather of Malcolm, Simon and Gillian. Nora was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, on July 18, 1928, the daughter of Maria-Theresa BURKA (Prague) and Lonja CEBOTAREV (Russia.) Nora was a Professor of Sociology and Anthropology for many years at the University of Guelph. She is survived by cousins and nieces and numerous former students, colleagues and Friends. On Friday, October 5, 2007. Survived by his wife Hans, daughter Johanna (Joleen) KAY and son-in-law Rex KAY, and granddaughters Tatjana and Zahavah. Also survived by his sister Mieke DELLOYE of Belgium and her seven sons and their families. Born September 1, 1927 in Gennep, The Netherlands Frans immigrated to Oakville in 1963. Though he never lost his love for The Netherlands Frans adored exploring Canada behind the wheel of a series of favorite cars. He criss-crossed the country with his wife and daughter and he and Hansje spent their retirement exploring the small towns, Native communities and art galleries of Southern Ontario. Frans loved reading history, listening to jazz and making his granddaughters laugh. He faced cancer with courage, wit and astonishing physical and emotional strength. Barb was a proud member of the Hanover Police Service Board, serving three terms over 13 years. She was also a member of the Hanover Public Library Board from 1985 to Survived by her daughter Michelle (Shawn) HAGGERTY of Fergus, son Wayne BURK/BURKE (Susan MARTELLOTTI) of London, grandchildren Megan (Shawn) SIMPSON, Leslie BURK/BURKE, Dana BURK/BURKE, Theron HAGGERTY and Marissa HAGGERTY, great-grandchild Alex SIMPSON and step-granddaughter Shauni HAGGERTY. Felix HARE
Felix HARE, a resident of M'Chigeeng, died at the Laurentian Hospital in Sudbury on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at the age of 78 years.
He was born in M'Chigeeng, son of the late Louie and Sarah Hare. Felix loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting and keeping a garden. He was known for sharing the vegetables he grew with all his neighbours. He had worked in the bush for 58 years before retiring from the job he loved. He also enjoyed bingo and going to the casino. In his early years, Felix was a hobby trapper. Felix will be sadly missed by his family and Friends. Predeceased by his wife Reta (ABEL) HARE. Loving and loved father of Grace CORBIERE of Port Huron, Michigan, (Dave predeceased,) Mary Ann (Pete) BEBONANG, of Toronto, Sharon BOISSONEAU of Garden River, Monica HARE of Toronto, Chuck (Doreen) HARE of M'Chigeeng, Thelma (George) HARE of Toronto, Pearl BURK/BURKE, Connie Hare (Chris) and Brenda ARMSTRONG all of M'Chigeeng. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden loss of our son and best friend Lucas on Monday, August 6, 2007; at the age of 19. Lucas is survived by his parents Donna (nee: STEWARD/STEWART/STUART) and Ron TINSLEY. Grandson of Rhea ALDEA (Royden BURK/BURKE) and Elizabeth Jean TINSLEY 'Bubs'. Lucas will be sadly missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, Friends and neighbours. Visitation will be held at the Lake Dalrymple United Church, 278 Lake Dalrymple Road, on Friday, August 10, 2007 from 12 noon until time of funeral service at 2 o'clock. Special thanks to John for trying to save my son's life, to all the Police, Firefighters, Rescue Units, The Divers and Ambulance workers, special Friends Larry and Gail COOPER and Gayle and Maja for being there as well as our families and all of Luke's Friends from Lake Dalrymple Road, Sebright, Orillia, Pickering, Everywhere, those who called, dropped by and thought of us. With sadness, we announce the death of Harry SMYTHE of Tsawwassen, British Columbia Born October 22, 1924 in Stratford, Ontario. His family was at his side when he passed peacefully at Mountain View Extended Care on Monday, August 27, 2007. Fondly remembered as Harz. he is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Norma and five children Kathryn DONAHOE (Gordon,) Janet WHITE/WHYTE (Rod,) Joan BURK/BURKE (David), Bill SMYTHE (Mona), Barbara HARKNESS (Dave), thirteen grandchildren, one sister Susan GILBERT and many nieces and nephews. Harz led a full life with his career passion being hospital pharmacy. He retired from Vancouver General Hospital as Director of Pharmacy in 1986 and kept busy with his family and his other passion, his computer. He spent the last 4 years at Mountain View Extended Care. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff who helped ease his long struggle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Harz can donate to the Delta Hospital in Ladner, British Columbia. Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather. Michael died at home in Vermont September 25, 2007 after a dignified battle with cancer. He was born July 6, 1932 in Hove, Sussex to the late Edwin and Doris (AYLING) BURFOOT. Michael▲ practiced anaesthesia 48 years in the United Kingdom, Montreal, Saudi Arabia, Toronto and Vermont. He was Chief of Anaesthesia at the Lakeshore General (Montreal) and the Fanny Allen (Burlington) hospitals. Lately, his most rewarding professional experience was with the sight-saving medical charity, Orbis in Libya and Uganda. At home, he had a passion for building and landscaping; completing three homes in Vermont with gardens and ponds. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 53 years, Ruth (YOUNG) and 5 children; Jacqueline HARVIE (Duncan,▲) Annette (Frank BURK/BURKE), Frances, Christopher and Maria (Roth) and Jamie and Karen, also 8 grandchildren; Adam and Claire HARVIE, Jack,▲ Mia and Abigail BURFOOT, Josh BURFOOT, Gabriel BURK/BURKE- BURFOOT and Ben BURFOOT. He was predeceased by his beloved grand_son, Patrick HARVIE.
