Born in Riceton, Saskatchewan. Peacefully at McMaster University Medical Centre on Monday, May 28, 2007 in her 89th year. Predeceased by her husband of 46 years F. Hugh BRENNIAN (2006) and her husband Gordon R. MILES (1944.) Survived by sisters-in-law Billie and Ruth and several nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered by her many Friends. Wanda exhibited a most inquisitive mind and was an active supporter of the Hamilton Arts Community until her death. Cremation has taken place. Interment at a later date in Lachute, Québec. Donations in Wanda's name to the Juravinski Cancer Clinic would be appreciated.

After spending a wonderful Christmas at home with family and celebrating his 85th birthday, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre on the morning of January 1, 2007. Bill will be deeply missed by his loving wife Kay of 52 years; daughters Pat BRENTNALL (Leonard) and Janet IRWIN (Drew;) sons Gordon (Sharon) and Glenn (Cathy) grandchildren Cole, Craig, Kaley, Andrea, Trent, Lee, Liam and Megan; brother Bob (Olive;) sister-in-law Lucy MOTTOLA; brothers-in-law Joe CANTAFIO (Louise), Till CANTAFIO (Lucille), Tony CANTAFIO (May) and Peter CANTAFIO; cousin Gaylene CHESNUT (Brian) and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was born in Winnipeg on December 29, 1921, at the Victoria Hospital. He grew up on Garfield St. and at the age of 19, enlisted in the Royal Canadian Artillery, serving his country in World War 2. Bill and Kay settled in Fort Garry and raised their family. Bill was an employee of the Federal Government for 34 years until his retirement. His greatest enjoyment was to spend time with his family and Friends both at home and at the cottage on Engineer Lake. He loved to laugh and had a flair for story telling. Music was his passion and he was a talented musician capable of playing a variety of instruments. We will forever miss you, but will always cherish the memories of you laughing, singing and playing music. Special thanks to Gaylene and Brian, Barb and Dave Ahronson, Monika and Bill Gerullis for all your support. Our family would like to thank the staff at the Victoria Hospital 4 south and Riverview Health Centre 3 East for their kind care during these last weeks. At Rubidge Retirement Home, Peterborough on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, 2007 in his 85th year. son of the late Henry HICKEY and Katherine O'BRIEN. Dear brother of Barbara MURRAY, and Maureen MULHALL and her husband Vernon, of Peterborough. Predeceased by his sister Helen HILAND and her husband Edward, William HICKEY and his wife Norma, and his brother-in-law Richard MURRAY. He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews; Edward HILAND (Antonia), Katherine McKEEN (Stuart), Peter HILAND, Sheilagh BRESKEY (Jeffrey), Mary MULHALL, John MULHALL (Susan), Bishop Michael MULHALL, Henry MULHALL (Cara). John HILAND predeceased.
Fr. HICKEY was born in Peterborough on September 20, 1923 and educated in Saint Peter's elementary and secondary schools. Following his studies at St. Augustine's Seminary and the University of Saint Michael's College, Father HICKEY was ordained Priest by His Excellency Bishop Gerald BERRY in the Cathedral of St. Peter-In-Chains on May 19, 1951. Father HICKEY had served in several parishes throughout his priestly life including Saint Peter's Cathedral 1951-1958, Saint_Joseph's Bracebridge, 1958-1970, Saint Mary's Church, Huntsville, 1970-1980, and Saint Mary's Church, Campbellford, 1980-1988, and in his retirement Sacred Heart Church, Peterborough. He will be fondly remembered by the Priests, Deacons, Religious, and laity of the Diocese of Peterborough for his warmth, approachability, good humour, and dedication which endeared him to those whom he served so well. Fr. HICKEY will Lie in State at the Cathedral of St. Peter-In-Chains on Monday from the Rite of Reception at 3: 00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. (Office For the Dead 7:00 p.m.)

After a very rich and full life, and surrounded by love, on Friday, October 19, 2007 at Saint Michael's Hospital. Throughout her life Ruth was a loving and caring daughter, sister and friend. She is survived by her sister-in-law Aileen COLLINSON. Predeceased by sisters Edith SHONIKER (Thomas,) Florence WALBANK (Thomas,) Claire MacDONALD (Dean,) Dorothy BRESNEHAN (Clifford) and brothers Ernest COLLINSON (Mae) and William COLLINSON. Ruth will be remembered for her warmth, smile, sense of humour, unfailing spirit and her zest for life. She will always be thought of with much love by her nieces, nephews and many Friends, especially by her long-time companion Joan EVELEIGH. DRAPER of Melbourne, Florida; daughter Barbara HAYNES and grandchildren Julia and Douglas HAYNES of Whitby, Ontario. A small family service will take place with interment in Virden, Manitoba. BRAILEY, Moira Joyce (July 18, 1919-June 3, 2007)
Died peacefully at West Park Long Term Care Centre. Joyce suffered for many years with a debilitating heart condition and osteoporosis. She always managed, however, to be cheerful and interested in all her family. Her husband, George died in 2003. Joyce leaves two daughters, Seonaid BRAILEY and Moira MacRAE (Garth.) She was a truly wonderful Nana to Justin MacRAE, Krista BRAILEY, Gail MacRAE (Allan LAURENT), and Heather MacRAE (Chris O'CONNOR). Joyce had a very special relationship with her great-granddaughter, Jordan TUCKER- MacRAE and great-grandchildren, Sam and Leigha BRETT, Haley MacRAE, Finlay and Emma O'CONNOR and Philippe GIGUERE. Joyce was born in Scotland, the youngest of 5 girls. She had a degree in Art and always enjoyed costume design. She spent her career as a teacher and found her happiest and most memorable time at Bialik Hebrew Day School, where the students, staff and families became long standing Friends. Joyce lived at West Park Long Term Care Centre for her last 5 years. She and her family appreciated the help and support provided by the dedicated staff, who treated her with kindness and dignity. It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Danielle (born May 26, 1975) at the Spectrum Health Centre, Grand Rapids, Michigan on May 28, 2007. Danielle is the loved, adopted, daughter of Sam and Yvonne BONDI of Mindemoya and the loving partner of David BELLES of Grand Rapids. Danielle leaves her brothers Owen (friend Debbie), Michael (Wendy), Steven (Rhonda) and sister Michelle (Steve) HART of Manitoulin, Matthew (Marilena) of Lansing, Michigan. Danielle will also be lovingly remembered by her Aunt Nina BONDI and family of Stoney Creek, her Great Aunt Rose BONDI, Uncle Sam BONDI and Grandmother Josephine BONDI all of Newmarket as well as many other Aunts, Uncles and Cousins in Midland and Penetanguishene. Danielle will also be sadly missed by her other family members, Aunt Kim BREWER, Uncles Wes and Charles BREWER and loving cousin Allison BREWER all of Little Current. Danielle was predeceased by her Uncle Don BREWER as well as her loving grandmother Wanita BREWER. Danielle leaves a legacy of service to her ministry of helping others through her pet project of Christian Street Intervention, a program that she initiated in Grand Rapids, and so energetically championed with the help and support of her dear partner David as well as JR, Jake, Christy and others. She was generous with those who were in need wherever they might be in the world and she dedicated her life to the care of her family. As a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, she worked quietly and diligently to help bring the churches in her community closer together through events like the Good Friday Walk. As her children grew up, Gail developed a passion for the investment business and economics. She became a stockbroker, then a teacher (Investing for Women; Branksome Hall) and later took up writing for newspapers in Montreal and Toronto, latterly becoming a free-lance reporter for the Report on Business in the Globe and Mail. She was passionate about her garden, flowers and plants. She adored her pets, cats in early years (Johnny and Fluffy) and Labrador Retrievers in later years (Anna, Lucy and Holly). She loved walking with her dogs, and spending parts of her summers on Lake Huron (Grand Bend) and Lake Simcoe (Shanty Bay). She was delighted by the Opera Atelier and attending the theatre. She cherished entertaining family and getting together with old Friends. Gail was uncomplaining and encouraging to those around her as she faced a difficult and debilitating challenge over the last months. A private service was held for the immediate family after her death and a celebration of her life will take place in October (details of the arrangements for this event will appear in these columns in late September/ early October). Passed into the loving arms of Jesus on October 19, 2007 at Saint Michael's Hospital following a brief struggle with cancer. Loving and devoted husband of Dorine (LAM,) cherished father of Justin and Jerome. Dear son of Jean (Jacqueline) COUTURE. Dear son-in-law of Che Kai (Dorothy) LAM. He will be fondly remembered and will be greatly missed by many relatives and Friends. The family is grateful for the loving care of the nursing team in the Palliative Care Unit of Saint Michael's Hospital, Doctor Christine BREZDEN- MASLEY, Marge BAKER and Sam NARAIN. Visitation will take place at Giffen-Mack "Scarborough" Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 4115 Lawrence Avenue East (one block west of Kingston Road) on Wednesday, October 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, October 25 at 11 a.m. in Saint Martin De Porres Roman Catholic Church, 4179 Lawrence Avenue East (at Morningside Avenue) with reception in the parish hall. Cremation and interment to follow on a later date. If so desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
