With great sadness we announce the death of Jean-Luc
POULIN on
Saturday, July 28th, 2007, peacefully at his home, surrounded
by his wife and children, at the age of 67. Jean-Luc died of
complications attendant upon the treatment necessary in the very
unequal struggle against a brain tumour lymphona.
Jean-Luc was a devoted husband to Linda (Lye) and loving father

A teacher of French par excellence at O'Neill Collegiate, Dunbarton
H.S., Eastdale Collegiate and Lahr Secondary in Lahr, Germany,
Jean-Luc was also French Co-ordinator for the Durham Board for
four years. In his ten-year retirement he indulged his love of
fishing and the outdoors, spending many happy hours catching
pickerel on Lake Scugog.

was predeceased by his parents. John was educated at Aberdeen
Academy and St. Andrew's University with a degree in Mathematics
and Physics and a post graduate degree in Applied Physics (Electronics)
winning first class honours and the Ferranti Gold Medal in Electronic
Engineering. John first started working at the British Ministry
of Aviations Royal Radar Establishment, Malvern, England in the
Physics, Radar and Guided-weapons Division. He emigrated to Canada
in 1956 and joined RCA, Montreal, to work on the midCanada
Line Radar system and then many space projects that were awarded
by National Aeronautics and Space Administration. He has been
responsible for the development, production and launch of ten
space satellites. After 25 years of working at RCA, in 1982,
John joined Raytheon Canada as President. During his tenure,
his achievements included the design and installation of the
radar and display equipment for the modernized Canadian air traffic
control system. Outside his business life, John was an avid golfer
and has played many golf courses in different countries. He was
a member of Conestoga Golf Course, as well as Meadowoods in Orlando,
Florida. John served as a Director on the Boards of Raytheon
Canada and two other Raytheon subsidiaries, the Aerospace Industries
Association of Canada, Elinca Communications, the Kitchener-Waterloo
Symphony Orchestra, the City of Waterloo Economic Development
Council and served from 1986 to 1992 as Deputy Chairman of the
Canada/Korea Business Council. Friends are invited to share their
memories of John with his family at the Erb and Good Family Funeral
Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Tuesday, July 31 from
2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate John's life
will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday,
August 1, 2007 at 11 a.m. Immediately following the service,
Friends and relatives are invited to the Fireside Reception Room
of the funeral home for refreshments and a time to visit with
the family. Following the reception, a private family committal
service will held at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. The

SMITH, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother
passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the
age of 92 years surrounded by her family.
Kathleen was born in Simcoe, Ontario on August 12, 1915. After
World War 2 Kay and her beloved husband, Walter chose to settle
in Richmond Hill, Ontario and over fifty-three years, happily
raised their family. They were true community builders, sharing
their energy, time and talents in a variety of organizations
including the community arena, the curling rink, York Central
Hospital Auxiliary (a charter member with thirty-eight years
of service), the Canadian Cancer Society and Richmond Hill United
Church. The couple greatly enjoyed the Square Dancing Club and
the Curtain Drama Club. Kay had a life long passion for the Performing
Arts and in her later years took great delight in classic movies.
To round out her activities, Kay owned and operated an upscale
clothing consignment shop for several years. In 1999, Kay moved
to Calgary to begin a new chapter in her life and to be closer
to her family.
All of her life Kay provided guidance and support for all of
her Friends, associates and family members and she always did
this in a warm and gracious manner.

BOUTWELL, and sister of John. Heather was born
in Vancouver, and spent most of her childhood in British Columbia
and Alberta. After graduating from teacher's college, she met
future husband Alex and they spent two years in England before
settling in Montreal. Then, to Oakville, and Toronto, followed
by retirement in Victoria, in 2004. Heather was determined, and
achieved everything she put her mind to. Heather taught primary
school in Canada, and England. She established a successful English
as a Second Language business in Toronto, where her students
not only viewed her as a teacher, but as a friend and confidant.
Heather was a creative artist, and designer, whose love of flowers
and gardening led to her certification as a Master Gardener in
2005. She subsequently served as gardening chair for her strata
housing council, where she initiated several grounds beautification
programs. Heather was optimistic, openminded, and had a smile
for everyone. Loved by all who met her for her warmth and kindness,
Heather will be dearly missed by family and Friends. A memorial
service to celebrate Heather's life will be held at 10 a.m. on
Monday, September 24th at First Memorial Funeral Chapel located
at 4725 Falaise Dr., Victoria, British Columbia Sincere thanks
to the Victoria Cancer Agency and Victoria Hospice Society for
their kind care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Victoria
