POULIN, Jean-Luc Alcide
With great sadness we announce the death of Jean-Luc POULIN on Saturday, July 28th, 2007, peacefully at his home, surrounded by his wife and children, at the age of 67. Jean-Luc died of complications attendant upon the treatment necessary in the very unequal struggle against a brain tumour lymphona.
Jean-Luc was a devoted husband to Linda (Lye) and loving father of Jean-Louis (Aida) and Danielle (Randy). Grandpa to Christian and Matthew TENNANT and Nicolas and Sebastien POULIN. Predeceased by his parents Lucienne TOURANGEAU (1993) and Jean-Louis POULIN (1942) and his stepfather Roland CÔTÉ (2007:) older brother and mentor of Gerard POULIN (Lorraine) Claire BOURGEOIS (deceased) (Rheo,) Jean-Noel CÔTÉ (Jeanne,) Solange (Sally) ROY (Paul,) Real CÔTÉ (Marj), Louis COTE, Louise LEBEL (Tom), Michel COTE and Micheline BRASSEUR (Reg.) Favourite uncle of at last count 52 nieces and nephews.
A teacher of French par excellence at O'Neill Collegiate, Dunbarton H.S., Eastdale Collegiate and Lahr Secondary in Lahr, Germany, Jean-Luc was also French Co-ordinator for the Durham Board for four years. In his ten-year retirement he indulged his love of fishing and the outdoors, spending many happy hours catching pickerel on Lake Scugog.

John died in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Saturday, July 28, 2007. He was 75. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pierrette (BOURGON;) predeceased by his son Michael, and survived by his children Graeme STEWARD/STEWART/STUART and his partner Christine NELSEN of Sechelt, British Columbia., Sandra STEWARD/STEWART/STUART and her husband David DIBBLEE of Oakville, Alan STEWARD/STEWART/STUART and his wife, Karen DAMAREN of Waterloo, a step-son Martin LEBRECHE of Mississauga, and 11 grandchildren. He will also be fondly remembered by his brother David STEWARD/STEWART/STUART and his wife Sheila of Scotland, sisters Hilda and her husband Victor DAVIS of Toronto, and Elizabeth and her husband Hugh ANDERSON of England. John was predeceased by his parents. John was educated at Aberdeen Academy and St. Andrew's University with a degree in Mathematics and Physics and a post graduate degree in Applied Physics (Electronics) winning first class honours and the Ferranti Gold Medal in Electronic Engineering. John first started working at the British Ministry of Aviations Royal Radar Establishment, Malvern, England in the Physics, Radar and Guided-weapons Division. He emigrated to Canada in 1956 and joined RCA, Montreal, to work on the midCanada Line Radar system and then many space projects that were awarded by National Aeronautics and Space Administration. He has been responsible for the development, production and launch of ten space satellites. After 25 years of working at RCA, in 1982, John joined Raytheon Canada as President. During his tenure, his achievements included the design and installation of the radar and display equipment for the modernized Canadian air traffic control system. Outside his business life, John was an avid golfer and has played many golf courses in different countries. He was a member of Conestoga Golf Course, as well as Meadowoods in Orlando, Florida. John served as a Director on the Boards of Raytheon Canada and two other Raytheon subsidiaries, the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada, Elinca Communications, the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, the City of Waterloo Economic Development Council and served from 1986 to 1992 as Deputy Chairman of the Canada/Korea Business Council. Friends are invited to share their memories of John with his family at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Tuesday, July 31 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate John's life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 11 a.m. Immediately following the service, Friends and relatives are invited to the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home for refreshments and a time to visit with the family. Following the reception, a private family committal service will held at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. Died in Kingston, Ontario on July 4, 2007, Jane SERRES, born in 1925, Maria Sarah PATTERSON, daughter of Albert Douglas PATTERSON and Evelyn Jane PATTERSON of Gaspé, Quebec. She was married three times, to John SERRES; Anthony JANIK; and Arthur PATTERSON. She is survived by her daughter, Claudia SERRES (George BOURKE,) grand_son James MOTT, many nieces and nephews, her stepchildren Nancy VANTASSEL (Jack), John SERRES, Neil SERRES (Sylvia); Christine HUDDLESTON; Shirley McCRINDLE (Bob), Reg PATTERSON (Joan), and Wesley PATTERSON (Bobbie,) and by marriage, many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Our special thanks to Doctor Patey and Doctor Sanfilippo for caring for her and to Doctor Pym for making it possible for us to share these many extra years together. Passed away peacefully with family at her bedside after a courageous battle with cancer on December 19, 2007, at the age of 86, at West Oaks Long Term Health Care Facility, where she resided since August 2007. Beloved wife of the late Gordon M. GODFREY, P.Eng. (mining), June 2, 1973. Devoted and loving mother of Gordon (Carol), Elizabeth EVERARD (Michael), Patricia, John (Vicki). Cherished nana to Ryan (Erin), Colleen, Steven, Kevin (Alaina), Dylan and Patrick. Born March 13, 1921 in Toronto to Harold (Harry) MORIN and Mary (Molly) (née BOURKE.) Predeceased by her two sisters Margaret PEACOCK and Katrine CURTIS. Mary lived in Timmins until 1956, before moving to Elliot Lake where she resided until 1967. For the last 29 years, Patricia lived with Mary in Oakville. Mary's joy for travel took her around the world. Cruising, accompanied by her daughter Patricia, was a favorite pastime over the last 15 years. Mary is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews in eastern and western Canada, especially Margaret Ann ANDES, her Friends, neighbours and life long friend Mary (Everard) LAST also from Timmins. Mary lived a quiet life dedicating time to enjoy her family. According to her wishes, only immediate family will preside at the cremation at Glen Oaks Crematorium, Oakville followed by a private interment at Spring Creek Cemetery, Clarskson, Ontario. A memorial service celebrating her life to be held in spring, 2008. Her family thanks Doctor Debra FELDMAN and Staff on the 3rd floor, East and West Wing, Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital as well as Doctor Ling HUANG and the staff at West Oaks Long Term Care Home for providing wonderful care, compassion and support to Mother and her family. We also express our deepest gratitude to Patricia, daughter and life companion for her devoted care giving to Mother in her final years. Mr. ZIMMERMAN was a long serving member of CML HealthCare's Board of Directors and, prior to his recent appointment as Chairman, acted as Lead Trustee, Vice-Chair and Chairman of the Compensation Committee for CML HealthCare Income Fund. Mr. ZIMMERMAN's leadership, extensive business experience and corporate governance expertise were invaluable to CML HealthCare.
Mr. ZIMMERMAN was the principal of Zimmerman Lawyers, Hamilton, Ontario. He also served as Vice-Chair and Lead Director of the Board of Directors of Cipher Pharmaceuticals Inc., as well as a director of a number of private corporations.

Beloved daughter of the late W.R. MOFFAT and Fanny MOFFAT. Loving sister of Jean and her husband Walter BLACKMAN, and the late Douglas and Alan. Much loved Aunt of Kathie, Ann and Jim BLACKMAN, Larry MOFFAT and Jill SOLLY, Great-aunt of Geniesha BOURQUE, Nancy RUSHFORD and Great-great-aunt of Sarah STACEY.
Frances was a dedicated Grade One teacher at Morse Street Public School for over 30 years and a long time member of EastMinister United Church.

Pat is survived by her six children, Phillip (Ann), Patricia (Willy), Paul (Lenore), Peter (Laura), Anna (Philippe), and Julia (Mark,) and her grandchildren Samantha and Andreas BRUEGGER, Jacob and Claire BOURQUE, Michael, Louise, and Elizabeth BOURQUE, Alexandra, Sebastian and Charlotte POTTER. Pat was the daughter of Thomas LEE and Charlotta Cantfell LEE, of Halifax, Nova Scotia and sister of Peggy, (deceased), Blanche (deceased), Jennie, Paul, Robin, Mary, Heidi, and Sandy. Pat was a graduate of The Convent of The Sacred Heart ('44) and the Maritime School of Social Work ('46), York University (B.A. Psych '71). SMITH, Kathleen Carrie (August 12, 1915-September 8, 2007)
Kathleen Carrie SMITH, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the age of 92 years surrounded by her family.
Kathleen was born in Simcoe, Ontario on August 12, 1915. After World War 2 Kay and her beloved husband, Walter chose to settle in Richmond Hill, Ontario and over fifty-three years, happily raised their family. They were true community builders, sharing their energy, time and talents in a variety of organizations including the community arena, the curling rink, York Central Hospital Auxiliary (a charter member with thirty-eight years of service), the Canadian Cancer Society and Richmond Hill United Church. The couple greatly enjoyed the Square Dancing Club and the Curtain Drama Club. Kay had a life long passion for the Performing Arts and in her later years took great delight in classic movies. To round out her activities, Kay owned and operated an upscale clothing consignment shop for several years. In 1999, Kay moved to Calgary to begin a new chapter in her life and to be closer to her family.
All of her life Kay provided guidance and support for all of her Friends, associates and family members and she always did this in a warm and gracious manner.
Kathleen will be lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Christine SMITH of Halifax; her daughter and son-in-law, Charleen and Chris EVANS of Invermere; and by her grandchildren, Lesley (Robert) BECHTOLD, of Maine; Geoffrey (Bridget) SMITH of Kingston; Lyndsey (Darrin) BONNELLY of Halifax; Meaghan EVANS and Kash GINIGE of Calgary; Craig (Flo) EVANS of New York; and by seven great-grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Patricia HORNE of Tillsonburg and Sheila EDEY of Sudbury; her uncle Ben SPENCE of Burlington; and by her cousins, Morleen BOUSFIELD of Toronto and Miriam FICK of Thornhill. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Walter and by her sister Joyce STANLEY.
Funeral Services were held at McDougall United Church in Calgary, Alberta on Tuesday, September 11, 2007. A Graveside Service will be held in Ontario at a later date. Stephen was born in Montreal on January 13, 1931. He was a retired employee of Dominion Textiles, and a member of the Atwater Club and the MAAA.
Beloved husband of the late Patricia (1996), he is survived by his son David and his daughter Laura (Jean BOUTIN) and grandchildren Charles,▼ James,▼ Edward,▼ Erika and William HARRIES; and Jonathan, Caroline, Emilie and Olivier BOUTIN. Beloved▼ brother and brother-in-law of Doctor John HARRIES and Eleanor HARRIES. Predeceased▼ by his brother Martin (Mary-Pat MANAHAN.) He is survived by a dear friend and companion, Irene Reed.

Stephen was born in Montreal on January 13, 1931. He was a retired employee of Dominion Textiles, and a member of the Atwater Club and the MAAA.
Beloved husband of the late Patricia (1996), he is survived by his son David and his daughter Laura (Jean BOUTIN) and grandchildren Charles,▲▼ James,▲▼ Edward,▲▼ Erika and William HARRIES; and Jonathan, Caroline, Emilie and Olivier BOUTIN. Beloved▲▼ brother and brother-in-law of Doctor John HARRIES and Eleanor HARRIES. Predeceased▲▼ by his brother Martin (Mary-Pat MANAHAN.) He is survived by a dear friend and companion, Irene REED.

MacKENZIE, Heather (née BOUTWELL) (1943-2007)
Peacefully on September 17, 2007 following a courageous 5 year battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Alex MacKENZIE, sister-in-law of Bruce MacKENZIE, and niece of Katharine MacKENZIE. Cherished mother of Andrea and Scott. Doting grandmother of Brady and Kylie, and mother-in-law of Andrea MacKENZIE née MURPHY. Beloved daughter of Irene and Don BOUTWELL, and sister of John. Heather was born in Vancouver, and spent most of her childhood in British Columbia and Alberta. After graduating from teacher's college, she met future husband Alex and they spent two years in England before settling in Montreal. Then, to Oakville, and Toronto, followed by retirement in Victoria, in 2004. Heather was determined, and achieved everything she put her mind to. Heather taught primary school in Canada, and England. She established a successful English as a Second Language business in Toronto, where her students not only viewed her as a teacher, but as a friend and confidant. Heather was a creative artist, and designer, whose love of flowers and gardening led to her certification as a Master Gardener in 2005. She subsequently served as gardening chair for her strata housing council, where she initiated several grounds beautification programs. Heather was optimistic, openminded, and had a smile for everyone. Loved by all who met her for her warmth and kindness, Heather will be dearly missed by family and Friends. A memorial service to celebrate Heather's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 24th at First Memorial Funeral Chapel located at 4725 Falaise Dr., Victoria, British Columbia Sincere thanks to the Victoria Cancer Agency and Victoria Hospice Society for their kind care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Victoria Hospice Society would be appreciated.

Proud father and devoted baseball fan, Carl died peacefully, after a brief illness, on Monday, October 22, 2007 in Ottawa. Predeceased by his wife JoAnne and son Larry (Sue MALONEY.) Survived by daughters Barbara (Graham FRASER,) Katrine, Anne and son Joe, and by grandchildren, Malcolm (Stacey DEWOLFE,) Nick (Glenda HEATHCOTE), Colin (Courtnay SCHAPANSKY), Luke, Cain, Spencer and Kate and great-grandchildren, Lydia, Owen, Satisa, Patrick, Meike, Graycee and Isis. Interment Service at 3 p.m. Monday, October 29th at Park Lawn Cemetery, 2845 Bloor Street West, Toronto. The family wishes to acknowledge the caring staff at New Edinburgh Square.
