ZOSKY, Joseph " Joe"
A man for all seasons passed away peacefully at Forest Hill Retirement home on April 3, 2006 in his 95th year. The man with the million dollar smile and enough warmth to melt an iceberg was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and devoted friend to any and all who knew him. Joe was the consummate sportsman who, as a young man, played several organized sports in Toronto including hockey, football and his passion - baseball. After his playing days he spent many years as an umpire in several semi-pro leagues. He was a constant fixture at Blue Jays baseball games from opening day in 1977 until a stroke disabled him at age 90. Joe was born and spent all his life in Toronto, becoming a successful business man in the jewellery manufacturing trade. His beloved wife of 55 years, Hilda (née SHERMAN) died in 1986 and he lost his eldest grandchild Cheryl ZWEIG in 1989 and his son-in-law Sam ZWEIG in 1980. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his daughter Temi ZWEIG, his son Jack and wife Louise, his grandchildren Lorne (Lori), Dana (Adam), Stacy (Brian), Jennifer (Russell), Rachel and Luke, his great grandchildren Hayley, Courtney, Jaymie, Jesse, Samantha, Taylor, Dylan, Zachary, Lenna, Seth, Mason and Sydney. A special thanks to Lisa, Jilian, Jemma and Juliette - his loving caregivers. Service will be held at Adath Israel Synagogue on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at 11 a.m., interment at Bathurst Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
