BEATRICE
STARK
MADDEN
(NEE
McBAIN)
In memory of Beatrice Stark Madden (née McBain) passed away peacefully,
surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at West Lincoln
Memorial Hospital in Grimsby, Ontario. Bea was born at home, in Edmonton,
Alberta on November 9, 1919. Bea is survived by her husband of 57 years,
Ewart and their 7 children--John (Kim), Ted (Shirley), Carolyn (Dave), Allen
(Mary Jane), Bev, Paul (Jackie) and Mary (Gary), their 19 grandchildren and
1 great grand_son. Bea is predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Janet McBain,
her sisters Pauline and Dorothy and brother, Allen and sister-in-law,
Marion. Bea graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of
Education and taught in rural Alberta. She was Assistant of the Christian
Education for the Manitoba Conference, under Reverend Peter Gordon White,
specializing in girls work,
CGIT.
After marrying Rev Ewart Madden and
relocating to Ontario, Bea balanced her life with raising her large family
and her active role as a minister's wife. Life in the ministry meant
relocating to different homes every few years. Because of this, Bea, Ewart
and family found stability in a "home" in Providence Bay, Manitoulin Island
where all the family could come together year after year. After their
retirement in the mid 80's, Bea and Ewart spent months of every year
enjoying each other and the peacefulness of their cottage. Bea and Ewart
moved to the Albright Centre in December of 1985 and have really enjoyed the
fellowship that they have there. Visitation was held on Saturday, January 21
from 2-5pm at the Tallman Funeral Home, 3277 King Street, Vineland, Ontario
(905) 562-5454. A Memorial service for Beatrice Madden was held at Albright
Manor in Beamsville, Ontario on Sunday, January 22, 2006 at 4: 00pm.
Greetings were to be read at the service, sent by noon January 22 to the
following email address: tmadden@rogers.com. In lieu of flowers, please make
a donation to the Covenant House Toronto: www.covenanthouse.on.ca or
416-204-7063. Those of us who knew Mom knew that she went through life with
a sparkle in her eye and contentment in her heart!! We love you Mom!!
Peace be with you.
