Sloan was born in Kitchener on February 5, 1935 to Earl Sloan
SARGEANT and Margaret
(BREITHAUPT)
SARGEANT. He attended Upper
Canada College, and then went on to study civil engineering at
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. After graduation,
he worked in the commercial construction industry in project
management mainly in the Toronto area, with a few years in Regina,
Saskatchewan., until he retired in the early 90's. Sloan was
a highly talented hockey player in school and college years,
winning many honours. He then turned his athletic abilities to
curling and golf, while progressing from hockey player to 'hockey
dad'. He was a keenly competitive member of the Dixie Curling
Club in Mississauga for many years, and of the Trafalgar Golf
& Country Club in Milton.. But the high point of so very many
years was the annual '24th of May weekend' on Island B52 in Woods
Bay, Georgian Bay, with his longtime Friends, Gar, Bob, Bill
and Hub. No women or children were ever allowed. At the wish
of his family, no public funeral service will be held at this
time. A private memorial celebration will be held this summer
to scatter his ashes where the pickerel run in his beloved Woods
Bay. Memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society would
be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted

Was born on July 30, 1914, in South Porcupine, Ontario. He passed
away peacefully in the morning of January 4th, 2006 with Catherine
by his side. He served in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer
Reserve from 1942 to 1945. Began his new career as a farmer on
his beloved Ortonwood farm in the Fergus area. C.W. married Catherine
in 1983 at the Farm and in 1988 they moved to Ennisclare. C.W.
was predeceased by his son John. He will be sadly missed by his
wife Catherine, his daughter-in-law Christie and grandchildren
Bianca and Geoffrey, and sisters Gwen and Lucille and many nieces
