A resident of Wallaceburg, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 27, 2006 in her 83rd year. Lucy was a 58 year member of the Catholic Women's League and daughter of the late Giovanni and Mary (CELLOTO) SIMONATO. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd WISBY. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Enrico (Rick) and Carolyn WISBY, Ruth and Ivan BILODEAU, Michael and Antoniette, Mary-Lou and David ROSS, Nancy BELL and Robert WISBY. Dear grandmother of Ryan, Jeff, Brent, Matthew, Samantha, Jonathan, Christopher and Natasha. Great-Grandmother of Jayden. Sister of the late Enrico SIMONATO. Dearly loved mother of Barbara JONES and her husband Harry of Union. Cherished grandmother of Douglas E. JONES and his wife Cathy ROSS of Calgary, Alberta, David A. JONES and his wife Joanne of Saint Thomas, Beverly STAFFORD of Saint Thomas, Deborah JONES of Dubai, U.A.E., and Alison JONES- REID and her husband Andy REID of Horseshoe Valley. Also survived by 5 great grandchildren, Jordan, Brady, Riley, Cassie and Austin. She was the last surviving member of her own immediate family, having been predeceased by 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Born in Walthamstow, England, February 2, 1906, the daughter of the late Francis and Matilda WISE. In keeping with Mrs. BEEVOR's wishes, there will be no public visitation. Cremation has taken place. Died September 30th, London Ontario of acute myelogenous leukemia. Tom was born in Chatham, Ontario, and graduated from the University of Western Ontario, Meds '61. He interned at Saint_Joseph's Hospital in London, Boston City Hospital, and the Royal Victoria Hospital, and the Royal Edward Hospital, both in Montreal. He practised respirology and taught at Saint_Joseph's Hospital and the University of Western Ontario since 1968. Retiring from Saint_Joseph's Hospital staff in 2002 he entered private practice in 2003 and continued working until his illness was diagnosed in August 2006. Tom is survived by his wife of forty-five years, the Reverend Mary McDowell WOOD of Shawville, Quebec, and their five children, Judith (Sigurd EIDSMO) of Denmark, Jane (Blair CRAWFORD) of Ottawa, Sarah (Rob BALLANTYNE) of Toronto, Pete of Hubbards, Nova Scotia, and James (Christine THORPE) of Toronto. Grandchildren are Julia, Thor and Jarl EIDSMO, Annie▼ and Liz CRAWFORD, and Mark, Ben and Sam BALLANTYNE. Tom▼ is also survived by his sister, Mrs. Ida Jean "Terry" (David MARTIN) of Ottawa. Tom returned to university recently and received his Honours B.A. in Art History and Criticism (with distinction) from the University of Western Ontario. Tom lived life to the fullest, and he lived it in style. Some of his essays have appeared in the Globe and Mail. He traveled widely, including extensive walking tours in Europe. He supported the arts and he cherished Friendship. Tom was an entirely generous and adoring husband; he was a father who delighted in, admired and respected each of his children; and he was a faithful brother. He was a fair and gracious colleague, and a kind and astute doctor who practiced and taught the art of medicine. He was a perceptive and eloquent teacher. In all things, Tom was "A good and faithful servant to his life's end". Our family feels a profound gratitude for the superb care Tom received in Oncology and Palliative Care at Victoria Hospital from Doctor Jo-Anne HAMMOND, her Resident Doctor Yishai WISE, the support staff, and the wonderful nurses for their infinite kindness to us. He was also foreman for the Town of Wiarton for 12 years. Mackenzie), Harry LAY of Toronto (Isabel, Harry, James, Honor.) Born in Barrie, Ontario 1919 (parents: Harry M. LAY and Janet Lindsey KING, sister of Prime Minister W.L.M. KING.) Harry flew for the Royal Canadian Air Force 1939-1945 as a squadron leader and was awarded the A.F.C.; he continued private flying to age 75. After the war he graduated from the University Of Western Ontario, and the family lived for several years at Chantecler Hills Estate in Ste. Adele, Quebec. He spent many years in Ontario as a consultant to the precast concrete industry. Harry's great love was gardening and the country property at Violet Hill, Ontario. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters Nelson LAY, John LAY, Jean DUNLOP and Rosabel OATES. He will be remembered by many nieces and nephews and their children. Private family service on Friday March 10th at Ross Funeral Chapel, 135 Walton Street, Port Hope. Predeceased by his mother Isobel Reid Hall LINESS, in 1974 and his father Edward (Scotty) Liness in 1975. Jim is survived by his brother Ian John LINESS of Bridgenorth, his sister Christine LINESS- MURCHISON of Peterborough, and his dear friend, caregiver and long time companion, Lydia WISSEKERKE of North York (Toronto.) He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews Donna TUGWOOD (Bob) of Bowmanville, Leslee HUDDLESTONE of Peterborough, Scott MURCHISON (Vicki) of Courtice, and great-nieces Holly, Brooke, Tara, Jill, Breanne and Nicholas, a brand new great-nephew. Also will be sadly missed by his doctor, friend and baseball buddy, Tom BACHER. Jim, a sportsman and a gentleman, and a great teacher of sports was affiliated with pro and semi-pro baseball in the Toronto area for many years as a player, coach and manager. He also was affiliated with the Harness Racing Association, owning, training and driving in Toronto, Barrie, Peterborough, Orangeville and in the States until a training accident cut his career short.
