SINCLAIR,
Margaret
The family of Margaret
SINCLAIR would like to express our heartfelt
appreciation for all the support we have received since the death
of our beloved mother. In her last few weeks we were overwhelmed
by the wonderful care given by the Parameds, the Victorian Order
of Nurses nurses and the tender assistance provided by Peggy
Luxton's staff of Caring Hands. We will always be grateful to
Dr. CHAN for the medical services he continued to provide for
our mother. The floral tributes, donations, cards, gifts of food
and other expressions of sympathy have been very comforting to
us throughout this difficult time. We were deeply touched by
the provision of a catered meal in our home courtesy of the culinary
talents of Ruth
BUTLER, May
HOWES, Tina
WATSON and Ben
WILTON.
Thank you to Rob Fawcett and his excellent team for their attention
to every detail. We could not have asked for more consideration
on our behalf. A special thank you to the staff at Hair Fair
for styling mom's hair exactly as she would have liked, complete
with the little net. Mother always wished her service to be conducted
from Gentle Shepherd Church and her wish was granted with special
gifts of beauty. We thank Pastor Ann
GILLIES for her thoughtful
message and her kind words of comfort, her son, Matthew, for
his mastery of the sound system and the lovely harmony of Dianne
CARLSON,
Judy
MacNEILL and Irene
LITTLE, skillfully accompanied
by Heather
WIGHT.
Krista
BULLOCK's piano solo was a special tribute
to her great-grandmother. We extend sincere appreciation to the
Gentle Shepherd Women, under the capable coordination of Joan
McGEE, for providing such a delicious lunch. Reverend
PRINCE's visit
to our home on Christmas Eve day will always be a treasured memory.
Perhaps the best way we can thank this community in its entirety,
is through Mom's own words which we recently discovered in a
written message to her family, "God bless you all".

MORRIS (Bert.) He is
uncle of Bruce
RADFORD (Rosemary), Brenda Radford
MILLION (Rob)
the MORRIS children - Debra, Lee, Sheri, Bob, Bill and Brad -
and of the Drew-Brooks - Alan, Neil and Paul. He and the late
Richard CHATER co-founded one of Canada's largest retail clothing
conglomerates, Grafton Group Ltd. Bill retired as Chief Executive
Officer and Chairman in 1992. He was appointed a Member of the
Order of Canada and received an Honorary Doctorate from St. Francis
Xavier University, Nova Scotia. His interest in education led
him to create undergraduate ongoing scholarships for the following
universities: Toronto, York, Western Ontario, Waterloo, Guelph,
Prince Edward Island, Memorial, Manitoba and British Columbia.
His many grand-nieces and grand-nephews will remember him for
his financial assistance in achieving their higher education
goals. At the University of Toronto, he established the Nona
Macdonald Visitors Centre and the Macdonald Heaslip Walkway at
Hart House Theater. At Ryerson University, Heaslip House for
Continuing Education opened recently as did The Macdonald Heaslip
Theatre at Sheridan Institute, Oakville. Other significant gifts
have been made to Shaw Festival, Soulpepper Theatre, Toronto
Symphony, Canadian Opera Company, Art Gallery of Ontario, Design
Centre and Banff Centre for the Arts. He was a dedicated fundraiser
and board member of Care Canada and Canadian Liver Foundation.
He made major gifts to United Way, Rotary Club and Hincks Institute.
Hospitals that benefitted from his giving include: Sunnybrook,
Women's College, St. Michael's and Toronto General. An avid golfer,
he held club memberships at Rosedale, Toronto Hunt; and
in Florida
at The Oaks he scored a 77, one-less-his-age, this January. A
skilled fly fisherman, he belonged to Ristigouche Salmon Club,
New Brunswick, and to the Caledon Mountain Trout Club, Ontario.
Other recreational clubs were Tadenac in Georgian Bay and Griffiths
Island. Two highlights of a favourite sport, Ballooning, were
soaring over The Alps and participating in the 200th Anniversary
of Ballooning, starting from Place de la Concorde, Paris. His
love of wine was enjoyed with the members of The Tastevin des
Chevaliers and The Commanderie de Bordeaux societies. In the
1820's, the Heaslips immigrated to Ontario from County Wexford,
Ireland. This Irish background may account for his convivial
and generous nature. Unfortunately, the 'luck of the Irish' ran
out when heart disease, prevalent in the family, became his problem
in later years. Thanks to superb surgery, he survived two by-pass
operations at Toronto General Hospital where he has been a decade-long
patient of Dr. Douglas
WIGLE, his friend and cardiologist. Stricken
suddenly at his Florida residence, he succumbed to a stroke.
An organ donor at his death, he gave the ultimate gift - his
liver so befitting a benefactor of the Canadian Liver Foundation.
Bill HEASLIP will be remembered always, by his wide-ranging coterie
of loyal Friends; by George and Joan
REYNOLDS, by Carmelita and
Danny ALCALA and by his wife's family, the Macdonald clan. Family
and Friends are invited to celebrate his life on Monday, May
8, 2006 at Rosedale Golf Club, Toronto from 5: 30 to 8:00 p.m.
If desired, a charitable donation may be made to any of the above-mentioned
universities or to Theatre Museum Canada, 77 Bloor St. West,
Ste. 1903, Toronto, Ontario M5S 1M2.

VANDERVELDE,
René
Martinus (1935-2006)
René Martinus
VANDERVELDE passed away at the age of 70 on Friday,
April 7, 2006 after a long, courageous, and determined battle
with prostate cancer. His great love of life, expansive spirit
and sense of humour touched everyone who knew him. René was born
May 12, 1935 in Leeuwarden, in the Dutch province of Frysland.
He spent much of the German occupation of Holland on the Harmsma
farm in Joure, Holland. René's secondary education began with
a degree in Hotel Management in Holland. Continuing his studies
in Canada, he earned his M.B.A. from the University of Windsor
in Ontario. René married Claudette
DEMERS and had two daughters,
Gabrielle and Nadine. The family later moved to Alberta where
he worked as District Manager of Versafood Services. René's life
took an unexpected turn in the mid-seventies, while looking for
fossils. After coming across the little known fossilized gemstone
Ammolite, René traded his chef's cap for a white cotton slouch
hat and took to fossilhunting full time. René developed and owned
the Natural History Museum in Banff until 1981. Korite was purchased
in 1979 with partners James Rae and Bill Jarvis. Pierre Paré
and Wilson Yip joined the partnership and together they built
Korite Minerals. They started Canada Fossils in 1985. Rene was
instrumental in having Ammolite recognized as a gemstone, marketing
it worldwide. For his accomplishments he was awarded the Alberta
Centennial
Medal in 2005. René married Shelley
VOLLANS in Banff
in 1986. They loved scuba diving. Together they traveled the
world, diving in such remote spots as Tonga and Malaysia. Shelley
was a strong and loving supporter of René throughout his long
illness. Shelley retired from her career as a Speech Pathologist
to spend more time with René in his remaining years. René enjoyed
cooking. He was a lover of fine food and wines, and an active
member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs. An avid outdoorsman and
fitness fanatic, René loved to swim, scuba dive, sail, cross
country ski, hike, jog and bicycle. He had a great love for the
arts and was passionate about classical music. He was a spirited
bridge player and keen collector of antique silver. René is survived
by his loving wife, Shelley
VANDERVELDE; his daughters Gabrielle
and her spouse Jill
WIGLE; and Nadine and son-in-law Scott
KRAFT
granddaughters, Gabrielle and Béatrice; sister Betty
PORTEOUS,
their extended families, and a very large circle of Friends and
business associates. Funeral Services will be held at McInnis and
Holloway'S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary,
Alberta) on Saturday, April 15, 2006 at 10: 00 a.m. Forward condolences
through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Because René was a lifelong
supporter of the Red Cross, the family asks that in lieu of flowers,
memorial tributes be made directly to the Canadian Red Cross,
