At the Kincardine and District Hospital on Wednesday, July 12th, 2006, at the age of 77 years, the former Pat PATTERSON, formerly of Toronto and Bruce Township, wife of the late Dick BALFOUR, and mother of Mary Elizabeth of Owen Sound. She is survived by her sisters Thelma FIELDS of Winkler, Manitoba, Gladys and her husband Herbert WAGAR of Sturgis, Saskatchewan, Elaine PEPPLE of Kelowna, British Columbia, and by her brother Blake PATTERSON of Kincardine. She will also be missed by Dick's brother James BALFOUR and his wife Margaret,▼ and by his sisters Barbara HORNE and Mary BALFOUR, all of London. Predeceased by her brothers-in-law Merv PEPPLE, Raymond▼ FIELDS, and William HORNE. She is also survived by her nieces and her nephews. A graveside service will be conducted in Roy's Cemetery, Russelldale, Ontario, (East of Exeter), on Monday,▼ July▼ 17th, at 11.30 a.m., with the Rev. Janet SINCLAIR officiating. FIELD, Jean Hunter Roy (née WADDELL)
Passed away peacefully on February 8th in her 92nd year. Jean was born in Glasgow, Scotland on August 6, 1914 and immigrated to Canada in 1926 with her sister Betty, her mother Agnes and father William. Her husband Harold predeceased Jean. Loving and devoted mother and mother-in-law of Richard FIELD and Julius BORJA of Toronto and Brian and Dorothy FIELD of Gabriolla Island. Her grandchildren and spouses, Christina FIELD and Steve WAGGOTT of Markham and Alexis and Chris KEMP of Ommee, Ontario as well as her great-grandchildren Peter, Aaron, Maxwell and Hunter will sadly miss Jean. Jean worked at Eaton's College Street store as a young woman and married Harold in 1938. She was a keen tennis player throughout her life and enjoyed her summers at Port Cunnington on Lake of Bays. During the fifties it was still the time of the big band sound in Muskoka and a group of Friends would travel by launch to Bigwinn Inn for many Saturday nights filled with dancing and laughter. Jean loved to play bridge and golf with her many Friends at St. Georges Golf and Country Club over a period of thirty years. Jean would smile when telling us about her hole in one at the 6th. In her latter years she was the primary care giver to her husband during his decline and she worked tirelessly to make him comfortable until his passing. The family thanks Rev. Dr. David WINSOR for his many visits to Jean and the staff at Thorncliffe Central Park Lodge for their wonderful care and compassion to Jean during her five years as a resident. At her own request Jean has been cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at Kingsway Lambton United Church, 85 The Kingsway on Sunday August 6th 2006 at 2 p.m.

Karen McVITTIE, beloved wife of Melvyn “Mike” McVITTIE of Owen Sound, passed away at Grey Bruce Regional Health Services in Owen Sound on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at the age of sixty three. Karen is remembered as a loved daughter by her parents Carleton and Evlyn (MARSHALL) KNIGHT of Meaford. She was the loving mother of Teresa and her husband Greg WAGHORNE of Innisfil, and Michael and his wife Lisa McVITTIE of Ingersoll and she will be sadly missed grandmother 'Nan' of Marcus and Jason WAGHORNE and Zachary and Kenton McVITTIE. Karen will be remembered as a dear sister by Forrest KNIGHT and his wife Jean of Meaford, Karle and her husband John CHAPMAN of Bayfield, and Tally and her husband Ken ALMAS of Meaford. She is also fondly remembered by her several aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and their families. A private family funeral service, officiated by Doctor Brad CLARK, will be conducted at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Thursday, November 16, 2006 with cremation to follow. Schneider Inc., owned and operated the Magic Meal Shoppe before moving to Bayfield where he became interested in Municipal Government. He represented Stanley East on the Council for the Municipality of Bluewater for over 5 years and was a Director on the Bluewater Rest Home Board for 2 years before ill health forced him to retire. After a very short illness, with her husband by her side, on Friday, February 10, 2006, at Toronto East General Hospital. Chris was the beloved daughter of Katharina and the late Andreas WAGNER, and loving wife of Doug ALLEY. She will be sadly missed by her sister Ingrid, brother-in-law David YOUNG, and she was proud of her many nieces and nephews. Chris was an avid runner, cyclist and traveller. Chris loved to entertain and her gourmet meals will be sorely missed by everyone, in particular the members of the Contrada. EBY, Herbert Clifton
Herbert Clifton EBY of Feversham passed away in Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre on January 7, 2006 in his 90th year.
Herb was born in Elsinor, Ontario on August 8, 1916, the son of the late Gideon and Georgina EBY. In 1926 the EBY's left the farm at Elsinor and moved to Feversham and purchased what was to become known as "Eby's Store".
Herb aftended public and continuation school in Feversham and in 1936 he married Madge DAVIDSON. The young couple resided in the apartment above the family store and Herb worked for his father. In 1937 their son Stephen was born and shortly thereafter, Herb, Madge and baby moved to Barrie where he worked at a hardware store and drove a taxi.
In 1946 they returned to Feversham to take over the general store as the elder EBY's moved to Walters Falls. In 1950 their daughter, Sally May, was born. Herb purchased an insurance business from Norman HARRIS and for the next 15 years he and Madge operated the store and the insurance business.
Herb was an active member of many community organizations and as many of his generation was involved in getting what is now known as the "old community centre" established. He enjoyed many years in the bowling league there. The church was an important part of the EBY's life and for 40 years Herb was an Elder at Burns' Presbyterian Church in Feversham.
1986 was a landmark year for the EBY's as they celebrated 40 years of operating the store, their 50th wedding anniversary and made the decision to sell the store and retire to the home they purchased in the village.
Left to mourn his passing are Madge, his wife of 69 years, son Steve, daughter Sally, son-in-law John HOOD, grand_son Kevin HOOD, sisters Marguerite FORSYTH and Marion DOBIE as well as many nieces, nephews and Friends.
A funeral service was held in Burns Church on January 10, 2006 with Dr. David GLADWELL officiating. Pallbearers were Kevin HOOD, Todd ARMSTRONG, Scott ARDIEL, Bill BRISTOW, Wayne DAVIDSON, Lonnie HUDSON. Honourary pallbearers were Elmer MULLIN, Bruce DOUGLAS/DOUGLASS, Lloyd HUDSON, Burt HALE and Murray LASHOVICH.
Flowerbearers were Reta PHILLIPS, Bonnie DAVIDSON, Carol WAGSTAFF, Mary Lynn McCAULEY, Pamela BRISTOW, Cindi ALLEN, April HUBBARD, Lois PLUMMER and Jane ARDIEL. An excellent eulogy was provided by Burt HALE and a reading by John HOOD. Evelyn DARGAVEL and Kenton HUDSON shared their gift of music and Burt HALE, Rev. Charles JACKSON, Barbara SHIER and Kenton HUDSON sang "Because He Lives". Following the service a large crowd enjoyed the wonderful lunch organized by the Osprey Museum Committee assisted by Friends in the community.
Herb will be remembered for his quiet, gentle manner and he will be missed walking the streets of Feversham with his wee dog Lori.

Dear mother of Simon and his wife Gail, of Wiarton, and Hilbert and his wife Diane, of Wingham. Cherished grandmother of Ross, Julie, Jamie, Brett, and great-grandmother of four. Survived by her sisters Nellie, of the Netherlands, and Mary, of Georgetown. Predeceased by brothers Rijk, and Hilbert. Jansje worked at Smith and Stone in Georgetown for over 30 years.
