Of Saint Thomas, on Thursday, February 16, 2006, at the L.H.S.C. (Victoria Campus), in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of the late Louie SURA (Oct. 9, 1997) and dearly loved mother of James "Jim" and his wife Carole SURA of Delaware and Monica and her husband Mike GIORGINI of London. Loved grandmother of Melissa SURA and Marc and Erica GIORGINI and loved great grandmother of Dawson. Dear sister of Kathryn TOTH of Windsor, Clara TERDIK of Simcoe, George VINCE of Chatham and the late Louie and Andy VINCE. Rosie was born in Mol, Yugoslavia on May 14, 1923, the daughter of the late Louie and Victoria (HORVATH) VINCE. She has resided in Saint Thomas over 40 years and previously of Rodney. She was a retired Custodian for the Catholic School Board. Rosie was an active member of Saint Anne's Church and was a Choir member and a member of the Catholic Women's League. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas until Monday morning and then to Saint Anne's Church where Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11: 00 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Angels' Cemetery. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home Sunday at 4: 00 p.m. Visitation Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Saint Anne's Church Building Fund or charity of choice.

Dearly loved father and father-in-law of Gregory and Wendy of Norwich, Stephen of Brantford, Karen and William SARGENT of British Columbia, Carol Ann PROUSE of British Columbia, Debra and Ed LONG of Port Dover and Peggy VINCE of Tillsonburg. Will be sadly missed by his thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Predeceased by his first wife Ruby (CRITCHER,) brothers Kenneth and Robert and sisters Marjorie, Dorothy and Evelyn. Mr. PROUSE was a proud 60 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #158 Port Dover, a Veteran of World War 2 serving in the Calgary Tank Corp. and a life member of the Tillsonburg Shrine Club. Loving and dedicated husband for 56 years to Ruth (née DENNIS,) loving and proud father to Cheryl NICHOL and her husband Robert of Kitchener, Marilyn ANDERSON and her husband Jim▼ of Aurora, Richard SANDS and his wife Jacquie▼ of Oakville and Douglas SANDS and his wife Lori▼ of Saint Thomas. Don adored his 10 grandchildren Matthew, Ian, Darren, Lauren (and husband Mike), Lesley, Catharine, Amy, Dylan, Meg and Shelby. Also survived by his sister Ruth and husband Fred VINCENT and family of Toronto, sister-in-law Lila SIM and family of Hamilton and brother-in-law Lorne DENNIS and wife Shirley▼ of Calgary. Predeceased by brother Franklin,▼ mother Margaret and father Les SANDS. Don▼ showed his commitment to family his entire life, and he will be sadly missed. Don resided his entire life in his favourite city of Sarnia. Born on March 22, 1926, Don attended Sarnia Collegiate Institute and Technical School High School and entered the Royal Canadian Air Force when he turned 18 during World War 2. Don provided for his family by operating the Tilden franchise, joined by Ruth and each of his children as they grew, until his retirement in 1985. Don was a lifetime member of Saint Paul's United Church, and was active in its athletics in his early years into adulthood. In recent years he was active at the Inn of the Good Shepherd, and was a charter season ticket subscriber to the Sarnia Sting. A great fan of hockey, Don was also a Montreal Canadiens fan since childhold, and enjoyed the friendly competition among his offspring that supported Toronto and Detroit. Don also loved dogs, and his neighbours often knew which one of his children was home based on the colour of the dog Don was walking. Friends will be received at the D.J. Robb Funeral Home, 102 North Victoria Street, Sarnia, on Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be conducted at Saint Paul's United Church (360 Devine Street, Sarnia) on Monday October 2nd at 11: 00 a.m. A private interment will be held. It is with great sadness that we announce that Jim passed away on October 7, 2006 at the Garry Armstrong Home in Ottawa. Jim was born on December 13, 1917 in Hibbert Township. Predeceased by his parents Wilbert and Mabel Margaret (FAWCETT) ANNIS, brother Gordon and daughter Evelyn FISHER (David deceased.) Lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Marie (née VINCENT,) his daughters Dorinda McCARTHY and Sandra WALKER (David,) grandchildren, Melanie, Lori (Bob), Matthew (Kendra), Michael, Meagan, Erin, Alicia and Jessica, sisters Frances NELLIGAN (Frank deceased) and Doris McDERMOTT (Robert deceased.) Jim graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College, in Guelph. Following his graduation, he practiced for a year at Blyth, Ontario before joining the Department of Agriculture with the federal government. He was assigned to Vancouver until 1948 and later worked in Windsor, Toronto, Regina, Ottawa and Moncton retiring to London, Ontario in 1978. He and his wife moved to Ottawa in the spring of 2005. Bonnie had lived most of her life in Orwell. Bonnie was a veteran of the second world war, she packed artillery ammunition in Montreal. She had become a great-grandmother to Timothy NEALE on November 29, 2006. Diana, elder daughter of David Kilvert BALDWIN and Patricia Peck BALDWIN, born in Hamilton, Ontario, on October 2nd, 1920, was educated at King's Hall, Compton, Québec, made her début in 1938 at the St. Andrew's Ball, Montreal, and spent her early married life as the wife of an Royal Canadian Air Force officer during World War II, stationed at Alliford Bay, Queen Charlotte Islands, British Columbia. She lived most of her life in Montreal, resided briefly in Keeseville, New York and spent the past 28 years in Toronto. To her family and Friends, she was loving, loyal, strong in the face of adversity, and very beautiful. The family would like to thank neurosurgeon Doctor Frederick VINCENT and the staff of the CRCU at Sunnybrook Hospital. The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Gerald ORSINI, of Phoenix, Arizona, went home to meet his heavenly Father on Saturday, December 31, 2005. Born in Toronto, Jerry moved to Arizona in 1967. He had two primary devotions: the Lord, to whom he dedicated his life; and his family, specifically his wife, Betty, whom he loved very, very much. A fluent speaker of Spanish and longtime, active member in St. Agnes Parish, Jerry was instrumental in bringing Mass in Spanish to the St. Agnes community. He served as an usher, lector, and Eucharistic minister, also delivering communion to the sick and homebound. He ministered to the migrant workers alongside Cesar Chavez, and also was very active with the Comunidad de Base faith ministry. A tireless advocate for the poor, Jerry worked for many years with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, stocking the St. Agnes pantry, delivering food boxes, and serving meals at the soup kitchen. Ever faithful to the Blessed Mother, Jerry spent much of his spare time making hundreds of rosaries for Our Lady's Rosary Makers to send to the missions around the world. Toward the end of his life, Jerry's priority shifted to caring for his wife at home. Jerry is the beloved son of the late Emilio and Sarah (née FEEHLEY) ORSINI and dear brother of Rita LETTNER, Basil VINCENT (deceased,) Sister Eleanor (deceased), and Father Frank (deceased). He is survived by Betty, his wife of 40 years; his daughters, Corina, Laura, and Ann; his granddaughter, Samantha; and his grand_son, Eric. Died peacefully at home, on July 13, in Montreal. Ruth Goldberg COHEN, his beloved wife of 57 years, was at his bedside. He was 92 years old. Edgar COHEN was born in Montreal on October 28, 1913. He was the son of Abraham Zebulon COHEN, a coal merchant and scion of the Jewish Montreal, and Malca (VINEBERG) COHEN, an erudite and witty conversationalist. He was the brother of Arthur, Riva and Elsa. He attended Roslyn School and Westmount High School. He went to McGill University and graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in 1934. Upon the sudden death of his father in 1937, he abandoned plans to study medicine and became president of L. Cohen and Sons Ltd., founded by his grandfather, Lazarus COHEN. There he introduced innovations such as profit-sharing and rebuilt a struggling business. He sold the company in 1959 and entered real estate as a consultant, running Yarco Building Corp. and LJA Investments; he successfully represented a consortium of investors in the United States and Western Canada. His real loves, though, were travel, writing and learning. After 13 trips to Europe and extensive archival research, he wrote Mademoiselle Libertine: A Portrait of Ninon de Lanclos, the 17th century French libertine. It was published in 1970 in Canada, the United States and Britain. He also wrote poems, limericks, short stories, commentary and satire, which appeared in publications including The Canadian Forum and The Montreal Star, as well as a novel and a memoir (unpublished). From 1977 to 1980 he was president of The Canadian PEN Centre. He was a member of the Board of Governors of Jewish General Hospital, a trustee of Congregation Shaar Hashomayim, chair of his McGill class reunion, and a member of the Friends of the McGill Library, the Writers Union of Canada and World Federalists. A student of history, biography and the Bible, he was a lover of opera and the outdoors, a sailor, a skier and tennis player, a wry and funny observer, a loving husband, an attentive father and unfailing friend. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, and his sister, Elsa RUBIN; his children Lenore, Judy and Andrew, and their spouses Paul HARRIS, Michael JACOBS and Mary GOODERHAM; and his grandchildren Michelle, Kenny and Andrew HARRIS, Jesse JACOBS, and Alexander and Rachel COHEN.

A funeral mass for Julia (CROMBEEN) JONGERIUS, age 78, of Sarnia, was celebrated on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church, Sarnia with Father Rick JANISSE as celebrant, assisted by Father Jim HIGGINS. Pallbearers were Francis VINK, Wayne CROMBEEN, Frank BISHOP, Rick CROMBEEN, Darren CROMBEEN and Ed YSEBAERT. An honour guard was formed by the C.W.L. at the mass and also provided the luncheon following the service. Interment followed in Resurrection Cemetery. Julia was a member of St. Benedict's Church and the C.W.L. Beloved wife of Chris JONGERIUS for 51 years. In Victoria, on December 9, 2006, Gerald B. TISDALL, passed away peacefully. He was the devoted husband for sixty years of the late Verna BROWN and proud father of the late Bruce (Connie) of Victoria and Paul (Marti) of Huntsville. He leaves his dear wife, Dorothy VINNELS (née STEWARD/STEWART/STUART) of Victoria. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Geoff, Sean, Dylan and Carlie; his brother Jack (Kay) of Oshawa and by Dorothy's extended Victoria Family headed by Doctor Stewart VINNELS and his wife Ann BRYDAN. Gerry was born in Swift Current March 19, 1914 and grew up in Moose Jaw and Regina. In 1932, along with his parents, he abandoned the drought and despair of Saskatchewan for the chances in Ontario. He gained employment as an office boy at the Toronto Star and the first rung on the latter to a career in journalism. His natural athletic abilities, Irish wit and inherent salesmanship marked him for success. In 1942 he joined the Daily Commercial News, a Trade journal with offices from Vancouver to Quebec City. In 1956 he became President, a position he held until his retirement in 1977. During these years he was also a Director of the Canadian Good Roads Association and the Canadian Construction Association. In Toronto he was a member of the Engineers Club and Lambton Golf Club; in Florida, golf clubs in Longboat Key and Bradenton. There will be no service at Gerry's request.

After a 14 month battle with leukemia, passed away peacefully at McMaster University Health Centre on Tuesday, February 7th, 2006. Verna's endurance, strength and courage plus her smile and determination throughout her life were an inspiration to her family and many Friends. Beloved wife of Fred (Rick), loving and proud mother of Colleen and Michael. Dear daughter of Annie VINOKUROFF. Predeceased by her dad Alfred and sister Donna. Sister of Philip (Margaret), Jimmy (Linda), Cathy (Rodney) and sister-in-law of Carol (Denis), Shirley (Richard), Patricia (Gord) and Donna (Brian). Verna will be sadly missed by her many special nieces and nephews and her many Friends. Visitation will take place at the Glen Oaks Memorial Chapel and Reception Centre located at 3164 Ninth Line (Dundas/403) in Oakville on Thursday, February 9th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 1: 30 to 2: 30 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place in the Chapel on Friday, February 10th at 2: 30 p.m. and will be followed by a reception in the Reception Centre.
