VAN TIL, Ellen (VAN HARMELEN)
A great woman, a gift from God. "Jesus lives: be not afraid! Take by faith God's promised surety! All our sins in Christ are paid: death is swallowed up in victory. God shall raise us from the dust: Jesus Christ, our hope and trust!" (from the C.R.C.'s Psalter Hymnal).
On Good Friday, April 14th, 2006, Ellen went to be with Jesus, the one who died for her and who said "today you will be with me in Paradise." As Jesus was raised from death so she will be praise God! Easter in heaven; wonderful. Ellen was born in The Netherlands in 1939 and came to Canada with her parents, John VAN HARMELEN and Elizabeth LAGERWEY in 1953. In 1961 she married John VAN TIL. Their family now includes: Gloria and Brian LUBBEN (Michael, Rachel, Daniel), Reuel VAN TIL (Jessica and friend Kyle; Kaeden), John and Joanne VAN TIL (Rebecca, Katie), Elaine and Greg MAY (Lauren, Anna, Evan, Olivia), Brenda and Joel MONIZ (Faith.) Ellen's siblings are: Joanne and Alvin BEUKEMA, Cor VAN HARMELEN and Kathie ROGERO, Andy and Gerda VAN HARMELEN. A brother Andre died in infancy. Friends will be received at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 716 Classic Drive, London, on Monday from 2: 00 till 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 till 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from noon till 1: 00 p.m. A service to celebrate Ellen's life will be conducted at Bethel Church at 1: 00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18th followed by interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Of Burlington and Bayfield on Sunday, July 16, 2006 in her 78th year. Predeceased by her mother Eva McLELLAN. In Belmont and London, Barb will be greatly missed by her brother James McLELLAN (Marion) neice Gail DUKIC and nephews Gary (Maria,) Dan (Lesley,) and Mark (Tricia) Great-grand-nephews Steven and Brian McLELLAN, Kyle (Jess VAN TIL) DUKIC and Shane DUKIC, Wyatt McLELLAN and great-great-grandnephew Kayden DUKIC. Having been a friend since 1949 Noni STEELS will miss Barb's wisdom and sparkling personality. Died peacefully at his dream home on the lake in his favourite chair on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 Charles Clayton William KAPLIN Sr., age 62 of Sarnia. "Darling husband, love and light of my life" Theresa (TIL) KAPLIN. Cherished father of Charles (Chuck) KAPLIN Jr. of Sarnia, Charlotte KAPLIN and Jeff ELLIOT/ELLIOTT of Bright's Grove, Tracey (Zig) KAPLIN and her husband Seamus of Sarnia and Lisa (Cookie) KAPLIN and Sid MITRA of London. Charlie left behind a lot of family, Friends and staff that will truly miss him. Charlie prided himself on his accomplishment owning Marcotte Disposal. He was a very kind, wise and amazingly good hearted man, who saw the positive in every situation. He would joke and tease anyone he loved. Charlie would help anyone who came to him and he would always find a spare dollar for Theresa to help all the stray animals she cared for. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia on Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 7: 00 p.m. Cremation will follow. Family and Friends will be received at the Smith Funeral Home on Thursday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. Please refrain from scents or perfumes at the visitation and service. Passed away peacefully on October 13th, 2006 at Saint_Joseph's Health Centre, Toronto, in his 46th year, after a brief illness. son of Philip Laurence CALLAHAN and the late Joyce Louisa CALLAHAN (TILBURY.) Husband to Lise BRISEBOIS and loving father to Kathryn. Brother to Pauline (Lloyd) FERGUSON, Pamela (Gerry) GENTILE, Audrey (John) DAVIES and Don (Andrea) CALLAHAN. Favourite uncle to Michael, Mark, Julie, Brenda, Lindsay, Rob, Alex, Chris, Julia and Patrick. A graduate of Lower Canada College and Marianopolis College in Montreal, Rob was a University Scholar at McGill University and a Lord Knolly Shield recipient as the top Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Planners graduate in Canada. Prior to a serious injury in 2005, Rob was Senior Vice President at Thermaquest International Inc. He previously served in management and commercial underwriting roles with Aviva Canada, GAN Canada, Zurich Insurance Canada and the Encon Group. Rob was also a talented and insightful writer with an exceptional intellect. He was an accomplished skier and a disciplined runner. He drew benefit and comfort from an unshakeable faith in God. He consistently reached out to those who needed his help and support. Rob lived to ensure that those around him were happy. His ever-jovial demeanor and his warm and generous spirit were the hallmarks of his character. He leaves us as a kind and gentle soul. A private family funeral will be held in Montreal.

Craig TILFORD and his partner Sharon OLMSTEAD of Caledonia and William E. TILFORD and his wife Marion CUNNINGHAM of British Columbia and Glenys and her husband John ROSE of Massachusetts. Dear step-father of Aaron and his wife Kristi HENOP of Hamilton and Kimberley Ann HENOP and her fiancé Gary SWICK of Stoney Creek. Predeceased by a sister Elsie RIMMINGTON. He was Past President of the Saint Thomas Golf and Country Club, a former member of the Saint Thomas Curling Club, Past President of the Saint Thomas Kiwanis Club (1972), Past Lieutenant Governor of E.C. and C. Kiwanis International. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas until Monday morning and then to Saint Mark's United Church where funeral service will be held at 11: 00 a.m. Cremation to follow, with his ashes to be interred in Union Cemetery. He served as President of the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographical Society. Predeceased by his beloved wife Frances Mary. Loved daughter-in-law of Aloisia BULPITT of Caledon East. Sister of Albert MILLEY (Verna) of Alberta, Eileen RAYMOND of Newfoundland, adopted sister Eileen IRISH (Peter) of New Brunswick, Joan RODRIGUEZ (Cecil) of Ontario. Sister-in-law of Georgina MILLEY of Newfoundland and niece of Al MILLEY of Toronto. Those who knew Edith will remember her for her optimism, strength and courage against a number of physical challenges in recent years, her infectious laugh, her ability to tell humorous and captivating stories and her unrelenting love for her grandchildren, Sarah SAVAGE of Toronto, Fuad AZZEH of Sudbury, and Geoffrey SAVAGE of Toronto. She will be deeply and sorrowfully missed by her children Timothy and Marilyn SAVAGE of Toronto, Kymm and Wael AZZEH of Sudbury, and Pamela SAVAGE of Toronto. Wife of the late George MOLOCK. Dear sister of Marisse LOUISY of St. Lucia, Roberta SCOTT of Owen Sound, Richard SCOTT of West Hill and Kaye GYLES of Guelph. Leona will be sadly missed by her aunt Beatrice TILLMAN of Owen Sound, her daughter-in-law Bev POLLARD of Kincardine and her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Morton James and Eliza Jane SCOTT, two sisters Vivian COURTNEY and Laverne SCOTT, a brother Douglas SCOTT and a niece Wendy SCOTT. George was a long-time resident of Sarnia, a member of Temple Baptist Church in Sarnia and also attended Colonial Woods Missionary Church in Port Huron. He was an employee of Sears and W.J. Barnes. Beloved husband of Marilyn DENOMY. Loved father of Sharon (Gordon) KELLY of Thamesville, Ontario, Brian DENOMY, Gerald (Sue) DENOMY of London, Ontario, Wayne DENOMY of London, Ontario, Jon (Robin) WIGGINTON of Frederick, Maryland, Janis (Bill) WIGGINTON of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dear grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Grandfather of Leslee, Sam, Wayne, Raymond, Shawn, Sam, Jennifer, Tanya, Kelly and Sherri-Lynn. Brother of Roy TILLOTSON, Lois TILLOTSON and Dolly WILSON. It is with great sadness that we announce our precious Pat, at the young age of 80, has passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. She leaves her husband of 14 years, Gordon MONTGOMERY. Predeceased by her first husband of 36 years, George Edward HOWARD and her parents Grace and Albert DAVIS. Left behind are her treasured children George HOWARD (Catherine,) Susan MILNE (Dwight,) Marilyn SELLICK (Dave), Darlene UNDERWOOD and Ron MONTGOMERY, her grandchildren Jim (Lisa), Kelly (Bill), Cheryl (Chris), Scott (Jen), Tracy, Shawne (Debbie), Ian (Roula), Nancy (Roger), Sarah, Paul, Candace and Dustin… having many fond memories. Pat was also the proud great-grandmother of 11. Pat is survived by sisters Dorothea CULLEN, Marion BRISLEY and Dot DAVIS. Predeceased by siblings Ronald, Emily and Ted. In loving memory of James "Luck" Ralph Tilston, who passed away peacefully
on his beloved Manitoulin Island on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at the age of
92. Luck taught grade school for many years, in Budges, Sheguiandah and
Little Current. He had a life filled with adventures and enterprises, such
as farming, restaurant owner and trucker. He was a private, quiet man, who
chose his words with care. He wrote many poems that were shared in the
Expositor. He enjoyed a simple life and never wanted to leave his Island
roots, except for brief excursions. Born to Ellen Isabelle (née Grierson)
and William Beresford Tilston on March 2, 1914. Predeceased by his beloved
wife Vivian Frances (née Sim) Tilston (November 15, 2002). Loved by his
children Jane Tilston (David Pellerin) of Elliot Lake, Jim and wife Louise
of California and son Christopher (predeceased 1963). Forever remembered by
grandchildren Heather Kiedyk of Tavistock, Lara Kiedyk Fraser (husband Jeff)
of Mt. Brydges, Andrew R.L. Keidyk (wife Tammy) of Barrie, Carey Jane
Fiorello (John), Chancey Tilston, Shannon Tilston, Jamie Tilston, all of
California. Special great grandfather of Brandon and Courtney Keidyk, Keiran
and Braeden Fraser, Alyssa, Giovanni and Mia Fiorello. Being the youngest in
his family he is predeceased by all his siblings Pat and husband Alf
Sellers, John Tilston, George and wife Lorna Tilston. Survived by two
sister-in-laws Ann and Christine Tilston, both of B.C. and Vivan's family,
Grenville (predeceased) and wife Cecelia Sim, Mildred (Sim) and Perc
Sparling, both predeceased, James and Gene Sim, both predeceased, Hilda Sim
Heberer (predeceased), Grant Sim (predeceased). Sadly missed by his nieces
and nephews especially by nephew Peter Tilston. Visitation was 2 - 4 and 7 -
9, Sunday. Funeral Service was at 2 pm, Monday, March 20, 2006 at St. Paul's
Anglican Church, Manitowaning, Ontario, the Reverend Canon Bain Peever
officiating. Burial in Hilly Grove Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements in
care of Island Funeral Home, Little Current, Ontario.
