SYMONS, Margaret Elizabeth (née WIVELL)
Age 85, a resident of the Maples Home For Seniors, Tavistock passed away peacefully on Thursday November 16, 2006. Born in Downie Township, daughter of the late John WIVELL and the former Elizabeth STRICKERT. Margaret worked at the Stratford Normal School for many years and then at the London Psychiatric Hospital until her retirement. Beloved wife of the late Jack SYMONS who predeceased her in 1983. Loving mother of Linda WILKERSON and Marjory SMITH. Dear grandmother of Ken, Tricia, Scott, Michael (Tracy), Adam, Jean, Bruce and Ray. Two great-grandchildren Janelle and Braden. Also survived by sister-in-law Hazel WIVELL, niece Heather SMITH (Frank,) nephews Peter WIVELL (Audra) and Paul WIVELL, grand nieces and nephews Kate, Ryan, Jakob, Stephanie and Kaitlyn. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by daughters Joan in infancy and Mary Murch, brothers Bill and Norman, son-in-law Alvin WILKERSON. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Sunday, November 19th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. Mr. Bob THRALL will officiate. Interment will follow in Avondale Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Maples Home For Seniors -- Residence Council through the funeral home.

Cherished father to Nancy PICKEN (Tim,) and Paula THRALL. Remembered by sister-in-law Ethel FENTON. Predeceased by son-in-law Brent, brothers Richard and Johnny and sister Edie. Passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side after a lengthy battle with cancer on Wednesday, March 1st, 2006 at the age of 73. She will be sadly missed by her 6 children: Bill, Tom, Lynne, Dianne, Greg and Kim and their spouses, her 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and her dear friend Cathy. Special thanks to her daughter-in-law Joanne, Dr. KASSIRER, nurse Liza, Personal Support Worker Debbie and the rest of the Palliative Care Team for the excellent care they gave during her final days. Friends will be received for visitation at Oshawa Funeral Service "Thornton Chapel", 847 King St. West (905-721-1234) on Thursday, March 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, March 3rd at 1: 00 p.m. Cremation and interment at Thornton Cemetery. Lelia SWACKHAMER, beloved wife of the late Cecil SWACKHAMER and daughter of the late Dalus and Sarah (MOORE) JUDSON. Predeceased by brothers Harold (Lolita,) Leighton, and Ross (Lorraine,) and sisters Audrey (Ray) CHRISNEY and Eleanor (Howard) THREAPLETON. Survived by sister-in-law Marjorie JUDSON. Much loved aunt of Craig JUDSON, his wife Ann and their family. Lelia will be remembered by a loving circle of nephews and nieces in Canada and the United States and other family and Friends. Died peacefully at his residence at King Gardens, Mississauga on Friday, November 17, 2006 in his 85th year. Husband of the late Charlotte Ruth GIBSON (2003,) brother of Glyn (Shirley) of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and the late Ray (1944); father of Heather (John DICKSON/DIXON) of Kingston, Ray (Saskia) of Etobicoke, Wendy (John THORPE) of London, John (Lynn) of Mansfield, Elizabeth of Etobicoke, and Gillian (Paul STREET) of Mississauga. Grandfather of Erin DICKSON/DIXON (Gordon McCANCE) and Katharine DICKSON/DIXON, Jocelyn, Hilary and Dinah THORPE, Matthew and Stanley HILCHEY, Declan WILLIAMS, Emma, Maggie and Rebecca STREET. Dear friend of Canon Carol THROP of Winnipeg. Harry served as an Anglican priest in the Diocese of Toronto at Saint Peter's, Maple Lake, and St. Elizabeth's, The Queensway, before returning to his home city of Halifax as Rector of old Saint Paul's in 1955. He was active in the General Synod of the Anglican Church of Canada and served as its Prolocutor. In 1964, he was appointed Rector of Saint_James the Apostle in Montreal, where he also served as principal of Montreal Diocesan College. In 1979 he became General Secretary of the Anglican Church of Canada, serving Primates Ted Scott and Michael Peers until his retirement in 1987. In retirement he served as Acting Principal of Wycliffe College, Associate Rector of Trinity Church, Streetsville, and as Priest-in-Charge of Saint Paul's, Bloor Street, St. George'son-the-hill, Islington, St. Bride's, Clarkson, St. Chad's, Toronto, Christ Church, Mimico and St. Matthew's, Islington. Most recently he served as Honourary Assistant at St. Matthew's, Islington. Funeral details are not complete. Arrangements are entrusted with Turner and Porter Butler Chapel, Etobicoke, 416-231-2283. Predeceased by her sister Frances BOULAINE and brothers George and William CHATTERTON. Sadly missed by her sister Rose THOMPKINS of Windsor and her sister-in-law Georgina CHATTERTON of Stourbridge, England.
