Dear brother of Nick and Lou AZIZ, Madeline DUNN, Evelyn JONES and Delia STEWARD/STEWART/STUART all of Toronto. Dear son-in-law of Rita E. BELEC. Dear brother-in-law of John, Greg and Fay, and Bruce McDONALD, Bessie and Tom SWEAZEY, Louise and Noël MORIN. Predeceased by his sister Margaret GRAINGER, his brothers George and Bill AZIZ, and sister-in-law Charlene SPRATT. Survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. Jim was a respected member of the London-Saint Thomas Real Estate Board and a well-known restaurateur in Sarnia and London. He will be fondly remembered by many Friends and business associates. Dearly loved mother of Allan WITHEROW of Port Stanley and Linda and her husband Ken KREIGER of Saint Thomas. Predeceased by 2 sons Michael and Milton WITHEROW. Dear sister of Bill and his wife June SWEEDLAND of Sarnia. Loved grandmother of Michael and Sarah and her husband Troy BENNETT. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Velma was born in Union on July 24th, 1932, the daughter of the late Angus SWEEDLAND and the late Dorothy (STANLEY) WAITE and step-daughter of the late Thomas WAITE. Velma worked at Essex Wire a number of years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Branch 410 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Port Stanley. A private family service will be held on Saturday. FUMERTON, Robert Carl " Moose"
Died on July 10, 2006. He was preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Madeleine "Bobby" FUMERTON. He cared for her with unlimited devotion throughout their marriage and in her long battle with Alzheimers. Carl will be missed but never forgotten by the family who loved him so much and whose lives he so influenced-his children Maureen (Michael) SHIPTON, Richard (Patti) FUMERTON, Gail (Michael) SWEENEY, Paddy (Alan) FUMERTON, and Debbie FUMERTON, his grandchildren Jennifer, Kelly, Tara, Rob, Madeleine, Carlin, Margot, David, Jamie, and Lian, and his great-grandchildren Oliver, Gabriel, and Max. Carl was born March 20, 1913 in Fort Coulonge, Quebec. He left giant footprints. With little formal education he became an extraordinarily educated man through his life-long love of learning. Before World War 2, he worked as a lumberjack, a bush pilot, and a gold prospector. During the war he became a fighter pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force, fought in the Battle of Britain, provided air cover for the invasion of Normandy, and eventually became Wing Commander of the 406 night fighter squadron. His wartime exploits are legendary and he earned the D.F.C. and bar, and the A.F.C. When combat ended he was Canada's leading night fighter pilot. Following the war, after another year of prospecting, and a brief stint in China as a flight trainer, he became a successful real estate agent to major land developers in Toronto. Though he was an honoured military hero to his nation, he was even more of a hero to his family. Through the life he lived, the people he touched, and the generations who will always remember him, he will live forever. Peacefully at Aspen House, Cardinal Ambrozic House of Providence, Patricia slept away. Last surviving child of Mr. Peter SWEENEY and his second wife Dorothy DYCE. Predeceased by her brothers Francis, P.J. and John, and by her nephews Michael, Dr. David SWEENEY and survived by his wife Ethel Mae. Also predeceased by several half sisters and brothers. Survived by her half nieces and nephews Margaret RAWLLS of British Columbia, Jack of British Columbia, Kathleen of Toronto, Frank and Grace of Toronto, and the late Lawrence, and great half nieces Merelyn DOWLING and Josephine GLASS. Pat was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School Commercial Division, and worked as a secretary for several businesses, the last being the Addiction Research Foundation. Her hobbies were sewing and refinishing antiques. At Pat's request no visitation was held. A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter's Church and interment in Mount Hope Cemetery have taken place. She was the loving mother to Brian (Mary Ann), Dermot (Marie), Paul (Marie-Josée,) Pauline (Mike RONZIO,) John (Monica) and Robert and the cherished Grandma to Patrick, David, Katherine, Siobhan, Emily, Aiden, France-Anne, Christopher, Ryan, Eric and Declan. Together with her husband Derry, Una founded Swenco Limited in 1962 and through the years became a friend, mentor and "mom" to employees and business partners alike. To all who knew her, she was a teacher, dancer, choreographer, gardener, chef, seamstress, leader, entrepreneur, hostess, and true lady. She was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Most importantly she was a loving mother who nurtured and guided all of her children and celebrated each and all of her wonderful grandchildren. Suddenly and peacefully at Sunnybrook Veterans Hospital, Toronto. Don is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Marian Eleanor ACTON (née THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON of Aurora, Ontario) and father of Brenda STORR (Michael), David (Marilyn), Bill (Susan LOUBE) and grandfather of Cathy, Wendy, Sharon, Karen, Trevor and Sam. Great-grandfather of Hollye Michelle and Carter Donald CAMPBELL. Predeceased by sister Eileen (SWEET,) he leaves his sister Evelyn (Jack MacDONALD) and brother Robert (Margaret) as well as many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Ottawa, Don served as a lieutenant in the Canadian Army Corps from 1943-45, and graduated from Queen's University in 1947. He worked at Beach Foundry in Ottawa, Steelcase Furniture in Don Mills and was the owner of a private enterprise, King Smallwares. As an alumnus of the Youth Group of Saint_James United Church in Ottawa, Don devoted a large part of his life to the service of others. He was an active member of Saint_James United Church in Ottawa, Birchmount United Church in Agincourt, Lemonville United Church and Zion United Church in Carnarvon. He was also a dedicated member of the Lions Clubs in Minden and Stouffville and a charter member of the Ballantrae Lions Club. As a cancer survivor of 1959, and an active community member everywhere he lived, he has left a legacy of perseverance in the face of adversity and service to others in each community in which he lived in the 84 years God gave him. A passionate builder, fixer and gardener, Don touched the lives of many, including the campers and staff at Camp Big Canoe and Camp Kirk. Memories abound from the cottage on Boshkung Lake he built and fostered as a gathering place for family and Friends. In the past year and a half he met the challenges of A.L.S. with a sense of humour, courage and dignity. He leaves behind a legacy of a demonstrated ability to meet adversity with courage and gives credence to the adages of "live life to the fullest", and "give, and it will be given back". He will be missed. CLARK (1993.) Loving mother of Doctor Nancy and Doctor Billy GUNTER of Wesley Chapel, Florida, Michael and Jean CLARK of Sarnia and Dave CLARK of Ipperwash Beach. Ever loving husband, son, grand_son, brother, colleague and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his wife Brigit Swenson SOARES, parents Denis and Belinda SOARES, sister Sharon SOARES- VAN TASSEL and her husband Dan, grandparents Lina SOARES and Maria HENRIQUES and uncle Fr. Hygino HENRIQUES, parents-in-law Jack and Cathy SWENSON and family. Everything he did, he did with joy, dedication, passion, integrity and excellence. He was a graduate of Brebeuf School '89, McMaster University, B.Com. '93 and York University Schulich School of Business, M.B.A. '02. He obtained his C.A. in '95 and worked with PriceWaterhouseCoopers for over 10 years. He joined the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario as Director of Career Information in 2003. He was an avid sports enthusiast, lover of music and accomplished pianist. His bright light has been put out too soon. We love you, Duane.
