great-grandchildren Oliver, Gabriel, and Max. Carl was born March 20,
1913 in Fort Coulonge, Quebec. He left giant footprints. With
little formal education he became an extraordinarily educated
man through his life-long love of learning. Before World War 2,
he worked as a lumberjack, a bush pilot, and a gold prospector.
During the war he became a fighter pilot in the Royal Canadian
Air Force, fought in the Battle of Britain, provided air cover
for the invasion of Normandy, and eventually became Wing Commander
of the 406 night fighter squadron. His wartime exploits are legendary
and he earned the D.F.C. and bar, and the A.F.C. When combat
ended he was Canada's leading night fighter pilot. Following
the war, after another year of prospecting, and a brief stint
in China as a flight trainer, he became a successful real estate
agent to major land developers in Toronto. Though he was an honoured
military hero to his nation, he was even more of a hero to his
family. Through the life he lived, the people he touched, and
the generations who will always remember him, he will live forever.

Died suddenly but peacefully with her family at her side at Saint Mary's
Hospital, Kitchener on Monday, April 10, 2006. Una was born December 29,
1931 in Ballycanew, County Wexford, Ireland to Alice
(FORTUNE)
and Murtha
MORRIS.
She was the eldest sister to James, William,
Jane (Nolan), Murtha, Patrick and Gerald. Una was the beloved
wife of H. Dermot "Derry"
SWEENY who predeceased her in June 1998.
She was the loving mother to Brian (Mary Ann), Dermot (Marie),
Paul (Marie-Josée,) Pauline (Mike

John
(Monica) and
Robert and the cherished Grandma to Patrick, David, Katherine,
Siobhan, Emily, Aiden, France-Anne, Christopher, Ryan, Eric and
Declan. Together with her husband Derry, Una founded Swenco Limited
in 1962 and through the years became a friend, mentor and "mom"
to employees and business partners alike. To all who knew her,
she was a teacher, dancer, choreographer, gardener, chef, seamstress,
leader, entrepreneur, hostess, and true lady. She was an inspiration
to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Most importantly
she was a loving mother who nurtured and guided all of her children
and celebrated each and all of her wonderful grandchildren. Friends
are invited to share their memories of Una with her family during
visitation at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S.,
Waterloo (at the corner of King and William St.), on Thursday
from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, from 7-9 p.m. The funeral
service to celebrate Una's life and faith will be held in the
chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, April 15, 2006 at 1: 30 p.m.,

Born and raised in Ottawa, Don served as a lieutenant in the
Canadian Army Corps from 1943-45, and graduated from Queen's
University in 1947. He worked at Beach Foundry in Ottawa, Steelcase
Furniture in Don Mills and was the owner of a private enterprise,
King Smallwares. As an alumnus of the Youth Group of Saint_James
United Church in Ottawa, Don devoted a large part of his life
to the service of others. He was an active member of Saint_James
United Church in Ottawa, Birchmount United Church in Agincourt,
Lemonville United Church and Zion United Church in Carnarvon.
He was also a dedicated member of the Lions Clubs in Minden and
Stouffville and a charter member of the Ballantrae Lions Club.
As a cancer survivor of 1959, and an active community member
everywhere he lived, he has left a legacy of perseverance in
the face of adversity and service to others in each community
in which he lived in the 84 years God gave him. A passionate
builder, fixer and gardener, Don touched the lives of many, including
the campers and staff at Camp Big Canoe and Camp Kirk. Memories
abound from the cottage on Boshkung Lake he built and fostered
as a gathering place for family and Friends. In the past year
and a half he met the challenges of A.L.S. with a sense of humour,
courage and dignity. He leaves behind a legacy of a demonstrated
ability to meet adversity with courage and gives credence to
the adages of "live life to the fullest", and "give, and it will
be given back". He will be missed. Friends may call at O'Neill
Funeral Home, 6324 Main Street, Stouffville (905-642-2855) on Thursday

for over 10 years. He joined the Institute of Chartered Accountants
of Ontario as Director of Career Information in 2003. He was
an avid sports enthusiast, lover of music and accomplished pianist.
His bright light has been put out too soon. We love you, Duane.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the
R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street (at Goulding, south
of Steeles). Funeral Mass on Monday June 12th at St. Luke's Roman
