Suddenly at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Friday, February 3, 2006, George Patrick Michael BARRETT of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, age 85 years, Veteran of the Second World War. Beloved husband of the late Minnie BARRETT. Devoted father of Diane BARRETT of Ottawa, Philip BARRETT of Toronto, and Cathy (Bill) BUSTARD of Charlottetown. Loving grandfather of Donald (Barb) BARRETT of Ottawa, Leanne (John) BENOIT of Covehead, Lindsay FOSTER of Stratford, Carey (Cheryl) FOSTER of New Haven and Carolyn (Vito) FURLANO of Toronto. Proud great-grandfather of Griffin and Alia BARRETT, Chloe and Brady BENOIT. Brother of Bruce BARRETT, Joan (Hughie) SKEELS, Frank (Betty) BARRETT, and Edna (Corbett) MacDONALD, and the late James BARRETT, Gordon BARRETT, and Mary STACK. Brother-in-law of Janos SIPOS. Remembered lovingly by numerous nieces and nephews. Resting at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel, Charlottetown until Wednesday at 9: 45 a.m. then transferred to St. Dunstan's Basilica for Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment later in the Roman Catholic Cemetery. If so desired, memorials to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. At Huronlea, Brussels on Sunday, September 17, 2006. Mr. Earl HEYWOOD of Wingham, age 89 years. Beloved husband of Martha (THIEL) HEYWOOD of Wingham. Dear father of Patricia and Bob COOK of Kincardine and Grant and Jeanette HEYWOOD of R.R.#2, Wellesley. Loving grandfather of Kathy and Greg WHITLEY, Jennifer and Chris MICHAELS and Jenessa and Kianna HEYWOOD. Great-grandfather of Tristan, Blaine, Hannah, Jacob and Natalie. Predeceased by his parents Victor and Lucinda (KRAFT) HEYWOOD and his sister and brother-in-law Marie and Harold WILTON. Canada's Number One Singing Cowboy, Earl worked at CKNX Radio and Television starting in the 1940's. He composed over 350 songs including his signature song Moonlight on the Manitoulin Island. He recorded on the RCA label. Earl was a past Executive Director of the Stratford Musician Association a regular performer on the CKNX Barn Dance and later toured and recorded with the "Heywood Family". One of his many accomplishments was the formation of the Barn Dance Historical Society. SKELLY, Mary Margaret (née ANDERSON)
(May 24, 1922-March 18, 2006)
On March 18, 2006, after a short but valiant battle with cancer, Mary Margaret SKELLY, aged 83 years, slipped away peacefully into the hands of God. Daughter of the late Robert and Esther ANDERSON, Mary touched the hearts of all whom she met and will be deeply missed by William, her loving husband of 60 years, her four children Rob, Fran (John), Joy (Bert), and Brenda (David), her three grandchildren John, Ben and Katie, and her many Friends in her church and community. She is predeceased by her loving granddaughter Pauline. The deep loss of our wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother is eased by the memories we all hold of her devotion to us and to God. Mary and her husband Reverend William SKELLY served the Presbyterian Ministry in churches in Ballyarnett, Northern Ireland, and in Ontario, St. Andrews in Drayton, St. Andrew's in Thorold, Alexandra in Brantford, St. Andrews in Tillsonburg, and Knox Presbyterian Church in Dunnville. Mary devoted her life to serving others with kindness, grace and hospitality. A very special thank you to the Caregivers at Princess Margaret Hospital and Providence Health Care Centre. Visitation at the Hammond Funeral Home and Chapel, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold, will be held on Monday and Tuesday from 2: 00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9: 00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on March 22nd at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Thorold, across the street from Hammond Funeral Home. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery, Thorold. Donations in Mary's name can be made to the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Memorial Fund in Thorold, Ontario.
