SCURR,

Jim passed away on November 3rd, 2006 after a courageous battle
with Parkinson's disease and cancer, in his 78th year. Cherished
husband of Joan and devoted father to Michael and Elizabeth (Liza),
beloved grandfather to Daniel, Adam and Kathryn. He also leaves
two great-grandchildren, many close Friends, former colleagues
and football alumni, all holding a special place in his heart.
Jim was born in Hamilton but spent most of his life in Toronto
where he joined the sea cadets at a young age, attended East
York Collegiate, married his high school sweetheart and began
his first career as a professional football player, for the former
Toronto Balmy Beach football club and briefly, the Ottawa Roughriders.
Attending night school while raising a family, Jim retired from
football and began his second career with Bell Canada, followed
by Motorola Canada and finally Petro Canada where he held the
position of Senior Vice President until 1984. From that time
until retirement, Jim worked in consulting, as an independent
and, finally, with AON Reed Stenhouse. Jim and Joan retired
full time to the Muskoka cottage in the mid 90's. During his
retirement, Jim found time to run for Lake of Bays council and
spent 3 years as a councilman before moving to London in 2003.
An avid baseball and football fan, his most precious time was
saved for time with Joan, at their retreat in Portugal or on
the dock in Muskoka with a glass of wine, along with family and
close Friends. A wonderful husband, father and friend who was
full of grace, warmth and humour throughout his life, he will
be dearly missed. A memorial gathering will be held at the Westview
Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Saturday, November 11th,
2006 at 3: 00 p.m. with an opportunity to pay respects to the
family one hour prior to the service. A reception to follow.
For the wonderful care that Jim and his family received, please
consider a donation to the Parkwood Hospital Foundation. Email
