After a brief illness passed away peacefully, with her dignity, April 4th, 2006 at Toronto Grace Hospital. Beloved and deeply loved wife and soulmate of George for 20 years. Predeceased by her father Thomas MILLER and her father-in-law Otheseas. Survived by her mother Margaret and mother-in-law Vicki, two brothers Tommy (Candace) and John. Loving sister of Stamy, Penny and Helen. Sadly missed by Friends and relatives. Dear mother of Mary (Chris JENNINGS) of Windsor. Predeceased by her daughter Betty (Steve RIGBEY, surviving) of St. Catharines. Dear grandmother of Carrie and Richard JENNINGS and Halley RIGBEY. Georgie was born May 10, 1927 in Smiths Falls, Ontario, she resided in Toronto until April 2005 except for one year (1951-1952) in Vancouver with her husband Earle BAKER (passed away 1987.) She was a member of the St. Paul's Anglican Church Choir for 42 years and also of the St. Paul's Singers. At her request, her body was donated to science. A Memorial Service will be held at Murray E. Newbigging Funeral Home, 733 Mount Pleasant Rd., Toronto, Ontario, on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at 7: 00 p.m. A Memorial Service will also be held at Anderson Funeral Home, 895 Ouellette Ave., Windsor, Ontario, on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of choice would be appreciated.

Peacefully in his sleep, as he wished, at his home in London, Ontario, on February 23, 2006 in his 88th year. Harold was the devoted husband and friend for 54 years of Fern SYKES (née MERRITT,) who passed away in 2000. Cherished father and father-in-law of Gail and Joe McCARTY (London) and Stephanie SYKES (Montreal.) Dear grandfather of Scott McCARTY (Dorchester) and Dr. Tracey McCARTY and her husband, Rick RIGBY (Carlisle.) Several great grandchildren will miss Grandpa Harold's warm smile, his unwavering kindness, his wit and sense of humor: Nicole McCARTY (Dorchester,) Lauren, Ryan and Erin RIGBY (Carlisle.) Harold leaves two brothers, Vern SYKES (Dundas) and Stanley SYKES (Burlington,) who, with nieces Elaine MacMILLAN (Hamilton) and Diane NICKS (Stoney Creek) and nephews Bill MacMILLAN (Hamilton,) Vern MacMILLAN (Stokes Bay,) Ross SYKES and Neil SYKES (Burlington) will mourn the passing of a fine and decent man. Harold is predeceased by his mother, Eliza and father, Harold Richard; his sisters Marion TOWNER (California) and Eileen MURRAY (Hamilton;) his son-in-law, Chuck McCARTY (London.) Harold and Fern leave many Friends and extended family in the Hamilton-Stoney Creek area where they lived for several years. A veteran of World War 2, Harold served his country overseas with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He donated his log book to the National Archives, the contents of which document a harrowing tale of a Sunderland aircraft downed in high seas off the coast of West Africa in July, 1944. A quiet hero, Harold rarely spoke of his accomplishments. When he met his lifelong love, Fern, she mentioned a friend of hers, a veteran, who was a member of "The Gold Fish Club" (fliers who had survived ditched aircrafts on the high seas). It was not until years later, after they married, that Fern learned Harold, himself, was a "Gold Fish"! He lived his life simply, with honor, truth and dignity, caring most for those near him who needed a helping hand, a shoulder to lean on, a word of encouragement, a strong but warm heart. He spread light, but as Edith Wharton wrote "There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it". Harold most often reflected the light of those he loved and who loved him. The world is less light today without that mirror. As he wished, Harold's remains have been cremated. His family will gather for a private and simple interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Home and Gardens, 2001 Dundas Street, London on Saturday March 4 at 10: 00 a.m. At 11:00 a.m. on Saturday March 4, Friends and family are invited to join together for an informal reception to remember Harold and Fern: Reception area of the Forest Lawn Memorial Home at the same address. In lieu of flowers, Harold would have suggested two appropriate tributes: donation to the charity of your choice and take a few extra hours today to spend with those you love.

Predeceased by her parents, Ambrose FLANNERY and Marjorie FITZMAURICE and younger brother Patrick FLANNERY. She is survived by her sisters Betty SWANEK, Donna JOHNSON and Shirley RIGBY (Tye:) her four children Maureen SQUIBB (Wayne), Marilyn KRAM (Robert), Gary MOFFATT (Lorri) and Greg MOFFATT (Dr. Vivian LIU) and her adored grandchildren Cristin, (Adam) Jessica, Elizabeth, Geoffrey, Jonathan, James, Jaclyn, Allison, Bryan, Jordan and Clare. Born in London, Ontario, raised in Toronto, Joan graduated from Saint_Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in 1947 as a registered nurse. She enjoyed life in St. Catharines for over 56 years as an active member of the St. Catharines Golf and Curling Club, Rodman Hall and the Rotary Club. Joan also loved her many years of traveling with family and Friends. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hulse and English Funeral Home and Chapel, 75 Church Street, St. Catharines. After a courageous battle with cancer on February 10, 2006 at St. Peter's Hospital, "Bill the Bartender" has passed away just short of his 81st Birthday. For over 40 years at Town and Country (Mutual Street, Toronto) he listened and gave advice to his "regulars", many of whom became personal Friends. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Jean (née RIGBY;) children Robyn (Shayne,) Richard, Rhonda (Tom) and Roberta; grandchildren Miranda, Kaitlyn, Kurtis (Tanya), Richard and Emily. We will miss his easy quips and quiet sense of humour. His brothers Douglas and Murray predeceased him. A grateful thanks to the 3rd floor of St. Peter's Palliative Care for their support and compassion to both Bill and his family. Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in Burlington. Hardy was born on April 24, 1927. He was predeceased by his wife Marjorie on November 25, 1999. He will be fondly remembered by his brother Cyril and his wife Rita (RIGG,) nephews, nieces, a grandnephew and grandniece, as well as by cousins Marion and Donald CORNICK and his cousin Charles (Chick) RIDOUT. Hardy worked for 37 years at the Surrogate Court for the County of York, where he was Registrar for 16 years. At Hardy's request, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at the Kitching, Steepe and Ludwig Funeral Home, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown. Predeceased by his brother Kelvin (late Eileen.) Sadly missed by his sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
