TURNBULL,
Brian
Murray,
LLB
(Barrister and Solicitor)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Brian
on Friday, March 24th, 2006; in his 62nd year. Brian is survived
by his devoted wife and soulmate Rosemary
(FAUBERT) who has treasured
their life together for over 35 years. Brian was born on June 27th,
1944 to Robert and Kathleen (predeceased)
TURNBULL in Fife, Scotland.
He will be deeply missed by his cherished father and his dear
sister Kathleen
CHARLTON of Barrie, Ontario. He is also survived
by his stepmother Mary
(SIEGRIST) and her family Jan
REGIS,
Eric,
Stephen and Barry
SIEGRIST who has not only been one of Brian's
devoted caregivers but a wonderful support to Rosemary during
this difficult time. And he will be sadly missed by his many
other relatives, Friends, neighbours, and colleagues. Brian has
faced many challenges in his life with unwavering determination
and such a positive attitude. He has also had several special
accomplishments including winning a Gold Medal at the 1967 Pan
Am Games for swimming some 6 years after being seriously injured
in a car accident which left him a paraplegic at age 17. He was
named Orillia's Athlete of the Year in 1968, won several public
speaking contests over the years and coached and mentored many
aspiring young lawyers. He also made time for his community serving
on the Cancer Society, the Ethics Board for Orillia Soldiers'
Memorial Hospital, the Terriers Hockey Club, the Big Brother
Association and belonged to both the Kinsmen and Rotary Clubs.
But Brian's crowning moment was when he was admitted to Osgoode
Hall Law School at age 40 after owning and managing several small
businesses in Simcoe County and Toronto. Brian loved practicing
the law and was deeply respected and admired by Judges, Lawyers,
Court Staff and the many clients he assisted with his fair, compassionate,
non-judgmental way. Brian loved his home, maintaining his property,
working on model ships, cooking, entertaining Friends, and travelling.
He and Rosemary were fortunate enough to do extensive travelling
and particularly enjoyed visiting Brian's homeland Scotland and
spending time in the Caribbean. He leaves Rosemary, his Friends
and family with so many wonderful, funny, precious memories and
he will be so missed. Brian
TURNBULL - a friend to many; and
inspiration to all. Following cremation, the family will receive
Friends at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West Street North, Orillia,
on Monday, March 27th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, March 28th
at the Hawk Ridge Golf and Country Club, Orillia from 3: 30 until
time of Memorial Service at 4: 30 p.m. A Reception to Celebrate
Brian's Life will be held immediately following the Memorial
Service. If desired, Memorial Donations to the Orillia Soldiers'
Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, or
the charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated. Messages
