Peacefully at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Friday, December 15, 2006, Mr. Lary LUSCOMBE of Strathroy and formerly of Saint Thomas in his 74th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Wilma (CONNOR) LUSCOMBE (2004.) Loving father of Barry (Lorri) LUSCOMBE, Jeff (Nancy) LUSCOMBE all of Saint Thomas and Brenda (Darren) THIRKETTLE of Strathroy. Will be sadly missed by loving grandchildren Ashley PODEBRY, Chris, Melissa, Steven, Laura, Jodie, Shayne, Lindsay and Jenna THIRKETTLE, great-grandfather of Christian. Survived by his sisters Kay DUBYK and Dorothy PROCTOR, sisters-in-law Hazel LUSCOMBE and Ruby (George) LEVERTON all of Saint Thomas and brother-in-law Ken EDMISON of London. Predeceased by brother Fred "Sparky" LUSCOMBE. Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Denning Bros. Funeral Home, 32 Metcalfe St. W., on Sunday, December 17, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 18, 2006 at 11: 00 a.m. with Rev. Dearly loved husband of Margaret (WIEBE) MOLCJAN and loved father of Lyda Ann and her husband Henry STERCZEWSKI of Cambridge and Timothy David and his wife Karen MOLCJAN of Orangeville. Dear brother of Alicja PAWLAK, Alfreda (PODLEKSI) and her husband Charlie ROBERTS and Maria and her husband Roy WAKELY of Saint Thomas and Greta EIFERT of Montreal. Loved grandfather of Matthew, Emily, Chynna, Trevor and Olivia. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Jan was born in Poland on June 8, 1937, the son of Emil and Lydia MOLCJAN. He was an ordained Pastor and a member of the Good News Christian Centre. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas where funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11: 00 a.m. Interment to follow in Elmdale Cemetery. 78 Halifax, passed away peacefully September 7, 2006, in Halifax. Born in Montreal, he was the only son of Colonel R. Saint_J. MacDONALD, M.D.F.R.S.I., and Elizabeth Marie SMITH. He was a judge at the European Court of Human Rights, Strasbourg, and Senior Scholar in Residence, Faculty of Law, University of Toronto. He graduated from St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish (B.A. 1949), Dalhousie Law School (LL.B. 1952), London University (LL.M. 1954), and Harvard Law School (LL.M. 1955.) Judge MacDONALD served as Lecturer in Law, Osgood Hall 1955-57, Professor 1957-59; assistant editor of Ontario Reports and Ontario Weekly Notes 1956-57; Professor of Law, University of Western Ontario, 195961; Professor of Law, University of Toronto, 1961-67; Dean of Law 1967-72; Dean of Law, Dalhousie University 1972-79, Professor of International Law 1979-90. He was the only non-European judge of the European Court of Human Rights, Strasbourg 1980-98, member Permanent Court of Arbitration, The Hague 1984; Honourary Professor in the Law Department Peking University 1986-98, World Academy of Arts and Science 1983-86. He became an officer, Order of Canada, 1984, and Companion of the Order of Canada 2000; Gold Medal, Founding President of the Canadian Council International Law 1988; read law with McInnes, MacQuarrie and Cooper, Halifax; called to the Bar of Nova Scotia and of Ontario 1956; Consultant, Department of External Affairs, Prime Minister's Office (Ottawa) and Republic of Cyprus (1974-78); Canadian Representative to United Nations General Assembly 1965, 1966, 1968, 1977, 1990; Advisor, American Law Institute; author of articles and essays in numerous professional journals and books; Sub-Lieut. He was a renowned scholar, notable for his definitive work on the rule of law in international relations. Described as a 'citizen of the world', he was recognized for his profound commitment to the universal protection of human rights. It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, Dad and Grandfather, with his family by his side at the Avalon Care Centre, Orangeville, on Friday, September 15th, 2006 in his 81st year; devoted husband of Marvene (née HIGGINS;) much loved dad of Catherine TRUDEAU (Norm,) David (Terri) and Lisa PODOLAK; cherished and loved "Paw" of Lindsay, Luke, Kati, Joshua, Billy, Julia "Dee Dee", Anna and Benjamin predeceased by his parents Mildred and Lorne and his sister Audrey McNALLY. He will be sadly missed but will live on in the hearts of people he loved and touched. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Avalon Care Centre for their kindness and compassion. Passed away at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife and best friend of her husband of 25 years, Joel WEINSTEIN. Will be missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins and many Friends. Livia graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto, in 1977. Her loss will be felt greatly by all her colleagues at the Department of Justice Canada, Tax Law Services Section, where she was Deputy Section Head.
