Surrounded by his loving family, at the University Campus (London Health Sciences Centre) on Friday, December 1, 2006 Mr. Charles Casimir POCIUS a resident of London and formerly of Tillsonburg, at the age of 95 years. (Former Real Estate and Insurance Broker and Tobacco farmer, all in the Tillsonburg area). (Member of Saint Peter's Bascilica, London; Saint Mary's Church Tillsonburg and the Knights of Columbus #3212, Tillsonburg. Born in Chigaco, Illinois, U.S.A. son of the late Casimir POCIUS and the late former Mary SOWINSKA. Much loved husband and best friend of 18 years of Janina (RANOSHKIENE) POCIUS. Predeceased by his first wife Anastasia (TRAWCHUK) POCIUS (December 1, 1986.) Loved father, father-in-law of Loretta POCIUS of London, Monica HILLBORG of Port Dover, Gregory and Tammy POCIUS of Simcoe, Asta POCIUS of Lithuania, and Audra POCIUS of Scarborough. Proud and loving grandfather of ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. Reunited in Heaven with two beloved children Irene MAROZSAN and James POCIUS and his three brothers and his two sisters who also predeceased him. POCOCK, Rosamond " Rosie" Mary, O.D.
Born August 21, 1917, Doctor Rosamond POCOCK of Toronto, Ontario died peacefully on Wednesday, December 13, 2006. She is the only daughter of the late Doctor Hubert and the late Doctor Margaret O'Neil POCOCK. She is the sister of the late Hubert (Father Bud,) the late John (Jack and Nancy,) the late Neil O'NEIL, and Gerald (Father Gerry) POCOCK. Doctor POCOCK was a graduate of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (Missouri) with post graduate specialization in Pediatrics from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathy (Pennsylvania). She maintained a private practice from her downtown Toronto office for over 50 years. "Dr. Rose" also served as a communication officer with the Canadian Armed Forces during World War 2 and was stationed in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She is survived by her beloved brother, Father Gerald POCOCK of Ottawa and her dearest sister-in-law Jean (Mrs. Neil) POCOCK of London. She is also survived by her nephews and nieces: Peter of Toronto, Ann (PEARCE) of Woodstock, Nancy of Newmarket, Douglas (and Linda) of Oakville and Judy of Toronto. She is further survived by her great-nephews and nieces: Douglas and Emily PEARCE, Heather PIERCE, Thomas and Julie POCOCK and Sarah and Paul WATSON. During her last years, when she was no longer capable of strolling down Younge Street, Peter's letters brought her news of her Toronto home. Rosie will be long remembered for her generosity and compassion, as well as the laughter she brought to her patients, Friends and family. Following a Funeral Mass at 11: 00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 354 St. Clair Avenue West (Bathhurst/Spadina), Toronto, there will be a private burial at Mount Hope Cemetery. Father John passed into Eternal Life on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at Scarborough General Hospital. He was the son of the late Bernard and Bernarda WEELINK and dear brother of Hettie TROTTIER, Ann and her husband Alf LUCKASAVIDCH, Henry and his wife Elve and the late Roger. Uncle of David and Heather, Mary Lynne and Norm, Roger and Klaudia, John and Cindy, Paul and Joyce, Brent and Kimberly. Father was ordained to the Priesthood on June 2, 1962 by Bishop Philip POCOCK at Saint Michael's Cathedral. He served at Saint Mary's, Barrie, Saint Margaret's, Midland, St. Brigid's, Toronto and Pastor at St. Patrick's, Staynor, and Guardian Angels, Orillia. Resting at Our Lady of Fatima Shrine (St. Clair Ave. E., east of Victoria Park) from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Concelebrated Mass on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery with his parents. Special thanks to the Scarborough General Hospital I.C. At Bluewater Health, Sarnia, on Friday, November 17, 2006. William M'Clean DAWSON, Q.C. of Sarnia. Beloved partner of Janet BREMNER. Much loved and loving father and grandfather of son Peter, his wife Anna, and children, Christopher and David; daughter Ann HOFFMAN, and children, Frances and James; son-in-law Jerry LALONDE, his children, Stephanie and Gregory, and wife Maggie LALONDE. Predeceased by beloved wife Catherine Weir DAWSON and much loved daughter Jane LALONDE. Survived by beloved sister Frances, her husband Allan WINTER, and children Kirk and Matthew; cousin Joseph POCOCK and his family; sister-in-law Jane Weir DANIC, her husband Jerry DANIC, and children Ian, Sue and Stephen. Predeceased by his parents Francis (Barney) DAWSON and Ann DAWSON of Sarnia. Bill was known for his kindness and gentlemanly ways, his cheerful nature and well developed sense of humour. His "mild little stories" as he called them, delighted us all. His was a life well-lived. He knew how to take delight in the myriad of small daily happenings. It was a wonderful instruction for all who came in contact with him. Bill enlisted in the Canadian Army at age seventeen, was shipped to England in 1944 and saw service in Holland. He was a graduate of the University of Toronto and of Osgoode Hall Law School, and began law practice in Sarnia in his father's law firm in 1952. Bill was devoted to his practice until he retired last March. He was an enthusiastic curler and golfer at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club where he was a long time member. Memorial donations may be made either to Lambton Wildlife Inc., P.O. Box 681, Sarnia, Ontario N7T 7J7, or to a charity of your choice.
