BLACK, Dr. Ronald Eugene
Age 61. With great sadness we announce that as a result of traumatic injuries from a bicycle accident, Doctor Ronald Eugene BLACK died in Vancouver on July 8th, 2006. Ron had recently retired as a Psychologist (DePauw University, McMaster University) with PCCCMHS, and moved to Vancouver to enjoy what he loved doing most bicycling. He died, near his home, when a car turned directly across his path. He is remembered for his dedication to his patients in the Schizophrenia Rehabilitation Program. Ron also greatly enjoyed teaching at Queens University where he made contributions to both the Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry. Ron also read voraciously, solved crossword puzzles easily and as an avid birder traveled throughout Canada, the U.S.A. and Australia. He was born in Richmond, Virginia February 1, 1945 and is mourned by extended family members in the United States and Canada. He is survived by his loving wife April Lynn BLACK (née KENNEDY) and his brother Donald W. BLACK and his wife Linda, of The Woodlands, Texas. In keeping with his wishes was cremated with no funeral service. Donations in his memory should be mailed to the Nature Conservancy of Canada at 400-110 Eglinton Ave. West, Toronto, Ontario M4R 1A3. A commemoration of Ron's life by his Friends and colleagues will be held at a later date to be determined. With appreciation to the Vancouver Police Department, the Paramedics and Fire Departments for their care in his final moments.
