Age 61. With great sadness we announce that as a result of traumatic
injuries from a bicycle accident, Doctor Ronald Eugene
BLACK died
in Vancouver on July 8th, 2006. Ron had recently retired as a
Psychologist (DePauw University, McMaster University) with
PCCCMHS,
and moved to Vancouver to enjoy what he loved doing most bicycling.
He died, near his home, when a car turned directly across his
path. He is remembered for his dedication to his patients in
the Schizophrenia Rehabilitation Program. Ron also greatly enjoyed
teaching at Queens University where he made contributions to
both the Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry. Ron also read
voraciously, solved crossword puzzles easily and as an avid birder
traveled throughout Canada, the U.S.A. and Australia. He was
born in Richmond, Virginia February 1, 1945 and is mourned by
extended family members in the United States and Canada. He is
survived by his loving wife

Linda, of The Woodlands,
Texas. In keeping with his wishes was cremated with no funeral
service. Donations in his memory should be mailed to the Nature
Conservancy of Canada at 400-110 Eglinton Ave. West, Toronto,
Ontario M4R 1A3. A commemoration of Ron's life by his Friends
and colleagues will be held at a later date to be determined.
With appreciation to the Vancouver Police Department, the Paramedics
and Fire Departments for their care in his final moments.
