World War 2 veteran, an amputee who served and was wounded in
Europe. He was a retiree of Canadian Arsenals, and a long-time
resident of Etobicoke-Lakeshore. He enjoyed golf until his recent
illnesses but remained an avid hockey fan. The Family wishes
to thank the medical staff at Norfolk-Haldimand Hospital for
their care and kindness. At his request there will be no funeral
service for Bill and he will be cremated.

Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound in his 83rd year. Peter

POWELL faithfully served his country for
31 years, including overseas for the entirety of World War 2,
and with the first United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Lebanon,
1958-1959. After retiring from the military, he designed and
constructed a home in the country and became a gentleman farmer.
He was a lover of nature and keenly interested in protection
of the environment. Friends may call at the Nicholls Funeral
Home, 330 Midland Ave., Midland on Sunday March 12th from 2-5
p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's
Church, Perkinsfield on Monday March 13th at 3 p.m. Spring interment
at Saint Margaret's Cemetery, Midland. If desired, memorial donations
to the Nature Conservancy of Canada. Special thanks for the empathy
and care shown by the staff of the Leacock Nursing Home.

from Grand River Hospital after 30 Years of service. Mom loved
to spend her summers at her cottage enjoying nature, and it was
there that she spent her final days. Friends are invited to share

Passed away peacefully on May 7, 2006 at the age of 85 years,
at Central Park Lodge in Toronto. Phyllis joins her beloved husband
Reg, predeceased in 1992, and her dear parents Bonnie and Ted.
Phyllis lived a full and active life that was deeply guided by
her faith. She had a love of music, nature, and animals, and
cherished the farm retreat at Acton that she and Reg tended lovingly
over the years. Phyllis was devoted to her immediate and extended
family. She was a steadfast and loyal friend who brought much
happiness into the lives of others, and in her quiet way helped
others less fortunate than herself through a variety of community,
volunteer, and church activities. Phyllis was predeceased by
her brothers Bill and Charlie, and her sisters Ruth and Adele.
She is sadly missed but fondly remembered by her children Cath,
Doug, and Grant; her beloved grandchildren Sarah, Christopher,
Stephanie, Allison, and Nicholas; sisters-in-law June and Marion
BRISLEY; nieces and nephews David (Judy,) Margaret, Paul (Carol,)
and Bonnie; cousin Trevor (Lolly)
PAWSON; her lifelong Friends
