Patrick PAIBOMSAI
In memory of Patrick Paibomsai, July 26, 1931 to May 12, 2006. Patrick was a
humourous man, he was witty and a practical joker. He was passionate about
hockey, playing in younger days, and watching in later. He loved being on
the land, trapping, hunting, fishing and gardening. Known "Uncle" to the
Birch Island Community, he will be sadly missed by his surviving brother
Simon, many nieces and nephews, family and Friends. Predeceased by his
parents John and Mary Jane and other siblings Victoria, Theresa, Franklin,
Elizabeth, Margaret, Clara, Nicholas and Andrew. Visitation was from 3: 30
pm, Saturday. Funeral Service was at 11 am, Monday, May 15, 2006 at Birch
Island Community Centre. Burial at Birch Island Cemetery. Arrangements in
care of Island Funeral Home.

He started his career in the insurance business with Morgan Nicholson
which was interrupted by his service in the Royal Canadian Air
Force during the second world war. He was awarded simultaneously
the Silkworm Pin and membership in the Goldfish Club because
he parachuted into the North Sea. After the war, he operated
the insurance business Warren, Still and Johnstone Limited. He
was involved in the Wartime Pilots Observers Association, the
Masonic Lodge and the St. Andrew's Society. Cremation has taken
place. A Memorial Service was held on Friday, November 3 in Winnipeg.

was also an active member of Kent Lodge No. 274 Ancient, Free
and Accepted Masons and was originally a member of Victory Lodge
in Chatham, Scottish Rite, Rose Croix, the Blenheim Shrine Club,
Past Master of the Royal Arch in Blenheim, Past Patron of the
Eastern Star Blenheim, Past Watchman o'Shepherds of the White
Shrine, Past member of the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority,
Kent County Tourist Association, former owner of the old Del
Mar Restaurant, Past Director of the St. Clair Development Council,
Co-founder of Uncle Tom's Cabin museum, Past Director of the
Blenheim and District Chamber of Commerce, Past Reeve for the
Town of Blenheim, President of the Number 3 Highway Association
(later re-named the Talbot Trail), Past President of the Chatham
Restaurant Association, President of Del Mar Foods Ltd., Past
President of the Progressive Conservative Association for the
riding of Kent-Elgin, Past Director of the Kent County Children's
Aid Society, Past Chairman of the Talbot Trail Association, Past
President of the Essex-Kent Federal Conservative Party, Charter
President of the Blenheim Historical Society. At Peter's request,
cremation has taken place. A Cemetery Service celebrating Peter's
life will take place on Saturday, July 8, 2006, 10 a.m. at Evergreen
Cemetery, Blenheim. Friends are asked to meet at the Legion Memorial
Chapel prior to the service. Following the Cemetery Service,
Friends are invited to a reception at the Blenheim Masonic Lodge.
