LAMACRAFT,
Audrey
Margret (née
OKE)
Born May 16, 1913 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Daughter of George Richardson
OKE and Betrice May
MILLS.
Longtime resident of Copper Cliff,
Ontario. Died peacefully in her 94th year October 4, 2006 at
Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto after a brief illness. Predeceased
by her beloved husband Jack
LAMACRAFT in 1991. She is survived
by her daughter Marie
TINCOMBE-
SHAW, her sons George, John and
Ralph, her daughters-in-law Anna (Cliffe), Linda (Burns), and
Anne (Karvanen), and by her 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother Lloyd
OKE and her other brothers
Orville and George having predeceased her. Audrey will be remembered
as a strong willed, independent, determined woman and a true
character. She set a high moral standard. Honesty, integrity,
the work ethic, thrift and the golden rule were herbasic rules.
The bedrock of her life was a strong and happy 58 year marriage
and everything else flowed from this. She was always intensely
absorbed in the welfare of all in her clan. As a young girl she
learned to 'read tea leaves' from a neighbour friend of her mother's.
Audrey had a gift or some kind of sixth sense for this and was
extremely prescient at reading people. She was a lifelong avid
bridge player and had her senior masters card. She loved party
games of all kind. She enjoyed travel and visited many different
countries and well into her eighties, after the death of her
husband, had several travel adventures on her own, one to Russia.
To Audrey everything and anything was possible. She had a natural
curiosity about people and things and despite some short term
memory problems in the last several years this trait remained
strong to the end. She had a full life. Audrey lived her last
six years at Fellowship Towers. She found it herself and she
loved the place. The family would like to express their gratitude
to the management and staff for providing a safe, secure, warm
and cheerful environment for senior citizen assisted living.
A private family celebration of her life was held at the Church
of St. Clements Eglinton on October 6, 2006. Funeral arrangements
entrusted to Trull 'North Toronto' Funeral Home and Cremation Centre.
The family requests that those who wish to remember Audrey can
make a gift in her name to the Alzheimer Society or a charity
of their choice.
