Hal was a student at Vaughan Road Collegiate, and a proud old
boy of Upper Canada College. Following service in Iceland with
the Royal Canadian Air Force, Sonny entered University of Toronto
and was a member of the first graduating class of U of T's School
of Architecture. He loved buildings and boats, drawing and debate,
jazz and playing piano, golf and the cryptic crossword. He was
known to all his children's Friends for sleeping in the living
room and tap dancing in the kitchen, and was waiting for Carnegie
Hall to call about his debut. Hal was a life member of the National
Yacht Club, and a founding member of the Group of Twenty and
Studio 67. Hal will be deeply missed by family and Friends. His
sense of humour and love of a good pun live on in his children
and grandchildren. Visitation at Morley Bedford Funeral Home,
159 Eglinton Ave. W. (2 lights west of Yonge St.), Monday, June 19,
2-4 and 7-9. Funeral service at Morley Bedford, Tuesday, June 20,

Richard, 1943 -- Died This Day
Politician born at Perth in what is now Ontario on January 6,
An early homesteader in Saskatchewan, he went on in 1901 to co-found
the Territorial Grain Growers' Association to provide legislation
against the monopolistic practices of elevator companies and
Canadian Pacific Railway. In 1905, he was appointed Saskatchewan's
first minister of agriculture and he became a tireless advocate
of modern farming techniques and agrarian education. In 1918,
he resigned in opposition to provincial support of conscription
and, soon after, entered federal politics. From 1921 to 1930,
he served as minister of agriculture under Mackenzie King. He
died in Regina.

by her husband Frank, son Daniel, daughter Lesley and brother
Paul MOTSCHMAN of St. Catharines. After graduating from Saint Michael's
College, University of Toronto, Mitzi taught at Dennis Morris
High School in St. Catharines, then in Barrie at Central and
Eastview Secondary School. The family would like to thank the
many nurses, doctors, and health care professionals who have
cared for Mitzi during her years with cancer. Thanks also to
