World War II Veteran, Bill SINTZEL passed away after a one year battle with cancer at Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound on Monday, March 13th, 2006. Bill SINTZEL of R.R.#1, Shallow Lake in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Donna (née THRUSH.) Father of Robert, Diana, Larry and Michael. Stepfather of Brian, Wayne and Deborah MEYER. Also survived by his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. In her 94th year went peacefully to be with her God and husband John on Sunday, March 5, 2006, at the Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care, London. The daughter of the late Catherine and Joseph KNOLL, is the last surviving member of her family. She is predeceased by her brothers Joe, Frank, August, Art and John and sisters Agnes and Rita. Bernice was predeceased by her beloved husband John (1983) and her son Gerard (1952). Loved mother of Carolyn ELLIOT/ELLIOTT (Dallas), Penticton, British Columbia, Mary CASHEN (Bob), London, Paul MEYER (Kathy), London, Ann MEDEMA (Paul) Ottawa and Jim MEYER (Lorie) Edmonton, Alberta. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Veronica KNOLL and Gertrude MURRAY and brother-in-law Hugh MEYER and leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Bernice is a life long member of the Catholic Women's League and the 3rd Order of St. Francis. She was an avid golfer into her early eighties and enjoyed a good game of bridge while residing at Mount Hope. She loved God and her Church and enjoyed being busy socializing and helping others. Harold MEYER, beloved husband of Mary Bernice MEYER of Kitchener, passed away peacefully at the Grand River Hospital on Monday November 20, at the age of 86. Harold will be lovingly remembered by his children Annette (Donald) McKINNON, Brian (Zinta) MEYER, Nancy (Michael TANNER) MEYER, Connie (Paul TIMMINS) MEYER from Toronto, Ontario and Lynn (Marcel) SAVOIE from Calgary, Alberta as well as six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Harold was born in Waterloo, Ontario to Theodore and Sarah (GEIS) MEYER and was brother to three sisters - Mary Ann (KENNEDY,) Charlotte (STOCKIE) and Leona (ZETTEL.) He is survived by his sister Mary Ann KENNEDY of Oakville, Ontario who will dearly miss him and their many conversations. Harold married Bernice DILLON on July 8th, 1944 in Elmira, Ontario. After the birth of their children they traveled extensively from 1966 until Bernice suffered a stroke in December of 1998. Harold worked tirelessly to give her as comfortable and full a life as possible since that time. They had celebrated 62 years of marriage. Harold was a salesman all his life and had two careers, one with The W.T. Rawleigh Company as his father had been, and the second in the investment business. As a stockbroker he had a long and productive career spanning 30 years. Harold worked for many companies before he retired from RBC Dominion Securities in 1993, although he never lost his passion for following the market. Harold was involved in several different Investment Clubs over the years and made many Friends. He also enjoyed playing cards, his favorites being bridge and solo. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus Kitchener Council since 1940 (the second longest member). Visitation will be held on Friday from 2: 00 until 4: 00 p.m. and from 7:00 until 9:00 at Henry Walser Funeral Home at 507 Fredrick Street, Kitchener, Ontario. Funeral Prayers will be held at 8: 15 during the Friday evening visitation. The Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, November 25th at 10: 00 a.m. at St. Francis Church, 49 Blueridge Avenue, Kitchener, Ontario. Interment will follow at Williamsburg Cemetery and the reception will follow interment in St. Francis Church, lower level. After a battle with cancer, God's choir of Angels have called home Gerardus VERMEEREN to join in his Heavenly chorus. Gerardus "Gerry" VERMEEREN of Tillsonburg on Friday, January 6, 2006, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, at the age of 69 years. Born in Holland, November 8, 1936, son of the late Gerard VERMEEREN and the later former Adriana STEVENS. He was a member of Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Tillsonburg; the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Reverend Father Joseph M. Burke Assembly, Ingersoll, and Saint Mary's Knights of Columbus Council #3212, and the Senior Centre Choir, Tillsonburg. He came to Ingersoll in 1951 and was an employee of the Ford Motor Company in Talbotville for 31 years, retiring in 1999. Dear husband and best friend of 41 years of Merna (ROVERS) VERMEEREN. Passed away at the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Palliative Care Unit, on Saturday, December 16th, 2006, in her 54th year. After battling a lengthy illness Carolyn passed away, surrounded by her loving family., The daughter of the late Calvin and Jean WATSON. Beloved wife of John BAINES. Loved mother of Melinda TOMBS, Heather TOMBS and Kelly BAINES. Dear sister of Ronald WATSON. Carolyn was the loved grandmother of Silver MEYERS. She had worked for a number of years with Laidlaw Transport and City Transit. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas where funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1: 00 p.m. Cremation to follow, with burial of the ashes with her parents in Elmdale Cemetery. Passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2006 at the age of 77 at York Central Hospital in Richmond Hill. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years Earl. Helen's most cherished achievement in life was to be the proud mother and grandmother of six children Doug (Nancy), Susan (Graham), Karen (Henry), Sandy (Lorne), Russell, Elizabeth (David), 13 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Helen will be dearly missed by her special canine friend Elmo who will miss their walks and her special treats. 81 years, peacefully, on March 18, 2006 surrounded by his loving family. Devoted husband of 55 years to Dorothy (née MEYNS.) Loving father of Karen and George GURTINS, of Kitimat, British Columbia Frank and Alice, of Toronto; Ken and Sue, of Tilbury; Mary Ann COOPER, of Exeter (the late Mike 1996;) Diane and Fernando DA SILVA, of Bradford; John and Kathy, of Windsor; and David, of Burlington. Adored 'Papa' to 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Dear son of the late Frank (1948) and Mary Agnes (née MULLIGAN) (1958) and dear brother of the late Frances LAROCQUE (1988,) and Bernard (1974.) Dear brother of James and Mel QUINN, of Windsor. Dear brother-in-law of Frank and Doris DAYUS of St. Clair Beach, Dorothy MARTIN, of La Salle, Maria REAUME, of Tillsonburg and loving uncle to 24 nieces and nephews. Frank retired with over 30 years of service as an executive of C.K.L.W. Television and later the C.B.C. He served his community in many ways. He was a recipient of the Canadian Centennial Medal (1967) and the Paul Lutzeier Memorial Award as co-chair of the International Freedom Festival. He was a 55 year member of the Knights of Columbus and was a director of the Glengarda Child and Family Services for many years. A special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of Metropolitan Hospital. Their compassion and care was greatly appreciated by Frank and his family. Visiting Tuesday, from 7: 00 to 9: 00 p.m. and Wednesday, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at The Marcotte Funeral Home and Chapel, 12105 Tecumseh Road, Tecumseh (735-2830). Holy Family Council #4386 K. of C. prayers Wednesday at 7: 00 p.m. and Parish prayers Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 9: 30 a.m. from The Marcotte Funeral Home to Our Lady of the Rosary Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10: 30 a.m. Fr.
