MEULENDYK,
Peter
In loving memory of a dear husband, father, father-in-law, and
grandfather, Peter, who left us 25 years ago, January 21, 1981.
When thoughts go back as they often do,
We treasure the memories we have of you,
This day is remembered and quietly kept,
No words are needed as we will not forget,
For deep in our hearts you will always stay,
Loved and remembered each and every day.
-All our love, wife Riek and family.

CADARIO,
Dorothy
Died on June 18, 2006 at the age of 88. She was a wife, a mother,
and one of the longtime residents of Leaside, Toronto. She was
the widow of Harry
CADARIO,
Director of Engineering at Ontario
Hydro. Dorothy leaves behind her children, Paul of Washington, D.C.,
and Barbara of Vancouver, British Columbia, and her sister Corinne
HIGGINS of Brockville, Ontario. Dorothy was a beautiful, intelligent,
and very strong woman. She grew up on the St. Lawrence River
in Brockville, where she loved to canoe. Her happiest times as
an adult were spent raising her children and she retained a life-long
delight in young children. She regretted that she never went
to university, and after her retirement from the Borough of East
York, she was an avid participant and loyal volunteer in Later
Life Learning at the University of Toronto, as well as Living
and Learning in Retirement at Glendon College. Dorothy was as
devoted to her family, as they were to her. She never hurt a
fly. Dorothy died of old age at her home, after suffering for
several years from the uneven care provided by the professionals
of the Ontario healthcare system and by the private homecare
industry. Thanks go to Vicki
JOHNSTON of the East York Community
Care
Access
Centre, for her exemplary help, to Doctor Jamie
MEUSER
and his team at the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care,
to Lisa, and to those caregivers who were good to her. Barbara
and Paul will receive visitors at the Humphrey Funeral Home -
A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue
East) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, June 22nd. The Funeral
Mass in celebration of Dorothy's life will take place on Friday,
June 23rd at 10: 30 a.m. in St. Anselm's Church, 1 MacNaughton
Road (at Millwood). In lieu of flowers, please send a letter
to your provincial Minister of Health asking that increased funding
be devoted to affordable, quality homecare for the elderly, so
that they may spend their last days in peace and safety. Donations
may be made to the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care at
Mount Sinai Hospital, 600 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario

SCOTT,
Catherine
Catherine died peacefully at her home in the early hours of 2
November 2006, finally succumbing to the breast cancer that she
had defied so resolutely and for so long. She will be profoundly
missed by her husband Jamie
MEUSER; her children Anna, Charlie,
and Pippy; her mother Margaret
SCOTT; her sister Victoria
SCOTT
and her many, many Friends and admirers. Catherine was a loving
wife and mother, an engaged and engaging friend and colleague,
and a thoughtful, committed contributor to her community through
volunteer and board work. She will be remembered for her strength
and toughness, and for her kindness, her unerring design sense,
her generosity in all things, and her trademark sardonic rolling
of the eyes. Catherine truly earned the love and attention that
so many gave to her in her last months. Her final gift to all
of us was to accept our care so gracefully. A private family
service will be held. A memorial celebration will take place
at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations
to Rosedale United Church (Out of the Cold Program) and/or College-Montrose
Children's Place (486 Shaw Street, Toronto, M6G 3L3)
