MORRISON, Thelma (née PETERS)
A resident of Chatham and formerly of Tupperville, Thelma (PETERS) MORRISON died on Monday, November 6, 2006 at Copper Terrace Nursing Home at the age of 94. Born in Sombra Township, daughter of the late Arnold and Lily Mae (KENDALL) PETERS. Beloved wife of the late Angus MORRISON (August 2006.) Loving mother of Keith and Tricia MORRISON of British Columbia, and Burton and Diane MORRISON of Chatham. Grandmother of Jamie MORRISON of Merlin and Ken MORRISON of Chatham and 4 great-grandchildren. Sister of Erma FURTAH of Wallaceburg and predeceased by Donald PETERS. A memorial service for Thelma and Angus will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at 1: 00 p.m. at the Dresden Cemetery, with Rev. Linda MAW officiating. Reception to follow at Tupperville United Church. Memorial donations made by cheque to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation are welcomed. Suddenly on February 15, 2006 at the age of 69. Arthur MARCOVITCH the loving father and father-in-law of Bonnie HOLTZMAN, Jamie MARCOVITCH and Debra MAWAS. Dear brother of Edythe HERSON and Sylvia SHACTER and devoted grandfather of Russell and Dean. His Friends and family will miss him greatly. At Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Avenue West (3 lights west of Dufferin) for service on Friday, February 17, 2006 at 12: 00 noon. MAWER, Charles Needham (1917-2006)
Charles (Chuck) MAWER of Calgary passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Foothills Medical Center on Sunday, October 29, 2006, at the age of 89. Chuck was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was the eldest of one brother and two sisters who are all now deceased. His formative years were spent in Edmonton, Vancouver and Calgary. After High School in 1935 he joined Richardson Graves as a C.A. Student. In 1936 Chuck joined the Naval Reserve and served throughout the war in staff operations and at sea. His duty at sea was aboard the HMCS Haida where he was involved in actions in the English Channel and escorted troop convoys to France on D-Day, June 1944. He retired from the Navy in 1945 as Commander and received the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions at sea. Chuck then returned to Richardson Graves and in 1947 he joined the Mannix Company. In 1951 he entered the investment business with Tanner and Company. He joined McLeod Young Weir in 1953, and served as the Manager of the Calgary office and Alberta Director. In 1974, at the age of 57, Chuck started Mawer and Associates. Throughout his business life he was a member of the Calgary Petroleum Club, the Ranchmen's Club and the Calgary Golf and Country Club. He was an active fundraiser for the Naval Museum of Alberta and a board member of the Developmental Disabilities Resource Centre. He retired in 1995 when he was 78. Chuck was predeceased by "Nibs", his wife of 62 years. Chuck and Nibs' most memorable and happiest times together were spent at beautiful Premier Lake. Chuck is survived by his family Stephanie and Paul, Pam and Ken, Peter and Susan, Martha and Doug; grandchildren Jonathan and Rhonda, Jilla and Steve, Adam, Tim and Olivia, Mollie, Jenny and Stephanie; great-grandchildren Graycen, Isabelle, Eric, Clara and Gabriel. A private family memorial service has been arranged. Friends are invited to a celebration of Chuck's life to be held at the Calgary Golf and Country Club (one and one half blocks West of Elbow Drive on 50th Avenue S.W.) on Saturday, November 11, 2006, from 2: 00 to 4:00 p.m. If Friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. We would like to extend our thanks to the wonderful staff at the Fountains of Mission and to his many Friends who were so supportive of Dad during the last few years. Has gone home to meet her Lord, on Sunday, January 15, 2006 in her 72nd year. Beloved wife of Frank MAWROVIC for 50 years. Loving mother of Kathy (Bob) JOHNSON and Anna (Roy) OROSZ. Proud grandmother of Brad, Kyle, Brittany Johnson and Karl, Mark, Rachel OROSZ. Predeceased by her parents Kathleen and Harold HARNETT. Dear sister of Betty PURDY of Strathroy. Cherished sister-in-law of Ivan (Audrey) MAUROVIC, John (Zvonko) (Joan) MAVROVIC, Milka GASBARAC of Croatia. Minnie will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. The family will receive Friends and relatives at Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel, 1997 Dundas Street East (at Wavell), London, for visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at 1 p.m. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
