LUND,
Gregor
Selmer
Greg LUND of Oakville, Ontario died peacefully on December 13,
2006. God graciously prevented Greg from lingering in a deteriorating
state. Greg's health, although failing in the past five years,
ended quickly, painlessly and almost abruptly. His wife Diana
and daughter Kathryn were at his side. Greg was born on August
5, 1921 in Arcadia, Wisconsin. While Greg enjoyed the tranquility
and peace of 'God's Country' and farming, he felt lead to follow
his heart. He met Diana
(McRAE) in New York City during World
War 2. She was employed doing security work for the British intelligence
service. Greg had been called up by the Navy from the Coast Guard
(New London, Connecticut) met Diana at a United Service Organizations
function. Greg crossed the Atlantic more than 40 times, during
the war, and also sailed in the Pacific. Following the war Greg
and Diana married in Toronto. They celebrated their 60th Anniversary
in November 2006. Greg is survived by his wife Diana, daughter
Kathryn (of Sacramento, California) and son Chris (of Wellandport,
Ontario). He was predeceased by his son Scott in August 1965.
He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren: Jennifer
and Julie (in California) and Gregor, Aaron and Danielle (in
Hamilton, Ontario). There are three Great-Grandchildren in California:
Austin, Ethan and Destiny. Trips to see his family in Wisconsin
were a time Greg touched the earth again and gained balance with
the stress filled work which filled his daily life. Greg developed
a company to service the Mobile Home industry across Canada.
Greg's faith was a beacon of his daily life. He participated
in many church committees, teams and related services. He enjoyed
wood working, gardening, sailing and walking the dog. Greg's
work and pleasure often called for travel. According to his wishes,
cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be
held in Oakville. In lieu of flowers, gifts to the Alzheimer's
Society 905-339-2140 would be appreciated by the family. We wish
to thank the caring staff at Harbour House at West Oaks facility.
Psalm 91 was one of his favourite passages. We can see him beneath
the wing of God. What amazing grace was given to him.
